Super lucky to have gotten into MT early in my training . Was in the early 90's , my Kenpo school was near AMC KIckboxing (Matt Humes , Eric Paulson, Maurice Smith and more recent Mighty Mouse ). A few of their students would drop by on our open sparring nights and I'd get them to teach me . We had a school jerk/bully that nobody liked . He fought in that classic sideways point fighting style , had no clue what MT was about . I finally got paired up with him. I had shin pads on under my long GI pants but I acted like I was adjusting them when reallly I just turned them backwards . First leg kick landed flush , with that deep "thunk" every MT guy knows . So did the second . He looked confused and said " Why are you kicking my legs??" I just said "You'll see..". By number 3 he indeed saw. I think the clinch work is more suited for self defense but there can be great value in some full power leg kicks especially against the untrained if you ever get forced into a squared up situation with a dumb dumb . The DBL or Drunk Brother in Law scenario .

@@BradYaeger yes!! Leg kicks served me well against a drunk young man who wanted to fight me years ago. One hard leg kick, head twist take down… then a stern talking to.

Philly shell, for coolness, is my favorite. Too bad I'm a southpaw.

Me too, but my head movement isn’t good enough to use it well. 😂😂 But… I do land a lot of jabs from that position. I don’t know why it works so well from there. Maybe because of the angle or I have less tells from there.
