But as you mentioned hip power at the end, the way i learned the blocks I learned to actually step in and pivot your ankle and knee inward, your arm lands the block the same time your foot lands. Just like in boxing when your punch in accordance with your footwork and pivot your leg as you punch to put bodyweight into it.
@taekwondoshawn2 жыл бұрын
Yes combining that with the hip as well is good! Trying to keep the basics blocks video a little ‘basic’ haha… Thanks for the comment!🙏🏻

Not the TKD I teach or was taught.... SO much Not being mentioned I don't even know where to start. I just wish you guys would take the time to invest into the 15 vol set of TKD by Gen Choi, the Founder of TKD. Too much like Karate but whatever

@larry b I encourage you to make your own video explaining what he didn't cover. It's easy for you to sit behind your keyboard and berate this guy for giving a brief explanation of more than one blocking technique. I would say "with all due respect" but I find it hard to respect anyone who goes into a comments section to tell someone who had enough guts and love for his art to give a brief instructional on his hobby that he is leaving out too much. You remind me of the old joke: "How many black belts does it take to change a lightbulb? Answer: 100. 1 to actually change the lightbulb and 99 to gripe about how the 1 guy who actually changed the lightbulb "did it wrong" or "didn't have the right technique" or "didn't do it the way some other master does it".
@larryb59863 жыл бұрын
@@jkdbuck7670 As I said It's NOT the TKD I was taught or teach. As far as a video.... Just stepping and punching is a VERY complex move. SO Many moving parts to do it right. Eyes, hands, feet, breath, hips, sing wave, action reaction, back before forward, knee spring action, NO TENSION until impact. ALL of that done together AND Stopping together. But I'll see what I can do

Man, look... I like taekwondo, I am not a hater, I am a fan and admirer. But, I have to ask, why does for instance, Shotokan Karate look so much better doing basically the same movement? I think it has to do with the uniform. The GI just makes you look better doing it than the Dobok? It just does... Anyone???

@taekwondoshawn2 жыл бұрын
Starting at the hip, and pulling back to the hip while practicing allows you to generate your 100% power with no shortcuts. Pulling back to your hip allows you to put all your power into the other hand for the strike or block. In a practical sense, you wouldn’t do this! But we practice the full technique enough so we can still generate power with a shortened version in a pinch. 😉
@corkystorky Жыл бұрын
Useless. All I see in all competitions, including olympics, is they use their heads to block all kicks my oh my, their arms are all down, they do foot fencing 100% And those arm blocks, they're just for tuition fees.
