I once played a neutral evil orc cleric of Gruumsh, who was on a quest to win his favor. The dm had him roll religion to figure out the right ritual and he nat 1d. So he made it up on the spot. He took a dwarf that had bee. Convinced to follow the party, covered it in goblin blood, set a "sacred" skull on its chest and then smashed that skull with a warhammer, simultaneously crushing the chest beneath. This actually won Gruumsh's favor somehow.

That is clearly defined, since the universe work on that basis of gods and demons and what not. When i play my paladin, i try to play it by example instead of "John Crusader". A lord being a tyrant deserve smites as much as an asshole of an elf. The same goes for demons or angels who commit evil acts

Eberron is a *_really_* well-designed and intricate yet accessible setting- the lack of moral objectivism and scientific racism may be one part of a magnificent world, but the reimagined Orcs are still one of the best things to come out of it. I read an interesting au about Orcs, saying that in Orc culture dying from infection/disease is shameful death. As a result Orcs have developed a need to bathe themselves often and have some of the best medical care out of all the races.

Huh, I actually have a character named OrK the orc.

He listens to a voice in his head. This voice has a hard name to say so OrK just calls him Jon. Jon tells orcs to do things because OrK has amnesia and doesn't remember much of his former life. He just knows that he likes pretty things and since elf's are pretty, he doesn't want to hurt them. For this he was beaten up and left to die. That's why he had amnesia. Jon yells at OrK to wake up by shouting the word "Orc" so OrK just thinks this is his name. He basically works of of what Jon says and his own impulse. Unfortunately, this has gotten him into alot of trouble. Jon claims to be a god and when OrK sees a cleric of a different god, he tells OrK to punch him in the face and then run. And he does! If OrK is running and sees a food he likes, he still runs...but he takes the food with him while eating it. I really love this character.

Had an idea to make lore that connected each of the orcs from the base game, explorer's guide to wildemount, and the orcs from ebberon. Basically it boils down to Gruumsh created the basic orcs to be his people, the lore there is basically the same. The wildemount orcs were the result of him battling the elven god, probably for the second time, the wildemount orcs were elves that came into contact with the blood of Gruumsh, so he doesn't like them vary much but he takes joy in the fact that they were the creation of the elven god that have become corrupted by his will. The ebberon orcs were the result of Gruumsh and the other orc gods coming to the conclusion that the orcs as they were would never actually forge a place for themselves in the world, so he created the ebberon orcs to essentially be his magnum opus, suffering none of the negatives that normal orcs did.

I'm working on a homebrew setting and one of the changes is that it's not really clear how the world and its races were created because the only ones who were around back then are the gods and they all just tell the version of the story that makes them look coolest. Another change is that a lot of the traditionally Evil races are more complex and fleshed out In the orcs' case, what I'm thinking of going with is that the orcs' homeland got invaded by aberrations and a lot of the orcs got killed or enslaved but the ones who managed to survive were united by Gruumsh's worshippers. The reason why orcs go to war all the time is that they believe that if they kill enough stuff, Gruumsh will be impressed and lead them in battle to take back their home

I have 3 types of orcs in my world. 1. Ooruks, the traditional savage orc, looks like the 3.0 orc, and they come from the not australia part of my world, and there was a big war to push them back, at least most of them. 2. Orcs, your more modern "you cant have an evil race!" type of orc that is "not ugly" but still brutish looking. These guys and gals were made by some gods who saw the invading orcs and went, there's some neat things about them, let's make a version that's smarter and less blood thirsty. 3. Half orcs, which come from the Orcs and Not Ooruks, and tend to look like your prettified orcs you see a lot of artists make these days. They are generally mixed with human or elf, which leads to a lot of variants since there's a lot of different types of elves.

I play a chaotic good orc ranger in a party that has a half elf and full blood elf, let me explain. He had fled from a goblin horde attacking his tribe. Normally he would have been executed, but since he had only become old enough to fight a couple days prior and it was his very first battle they gave him the "mercy" of branding his cheek with the insignia of an axe with the blade cracked down the middle, this world's universal orc symbol of cowardice, and exiled him permanently from his tribe. During his time in exile escaping the mostly barren desert, attacked by other orcs who saw his coward's brand, he chose to disavow his orc god and his tribe and secretly planned to grow strong enough and gather enough allies to take on the orc gods. Currently the party is watching and keeping hidden away the infant reincarnation of Bahamut for the metallic dragons after they were decimated by the BBEG's army and my character was already resurrected by the warforged cleric's god once. He already fulfilled the request the god demanded for said resurrection so he's got the god of all metallic dragons and a powerful good alignment god on his side already and he's only level 5.
