Quick question. I have the impression that, the more powerful your ship, the less useful the overboost becomes, giving you diminishing returns. I never manage to use it completely because either my hull cannot take it, or because I am so fast the track doesn't allow it. What's your opinion on that?

Dude Redout 2 looks incredible, mechanically it definitely looks superior to the first, and seems like a better game. But the thing I was MOST excited for, was the soundtrack, and I'm not gonna lie... It all sounds like the most generic club dance bassline possible, apart from the occasional cultural instruments mixed in. Whereas Redout 1's soundtrack had PROGRESSION, it didn't stay the same. You had those moments of calm, right before a drop into a sick electric guitar solo. Each expansion of tracks had their own theme that set them apart, like Neptune's literally sounded like an epic bossfight. Mars' had a vaguely Arabian feel but with the aforementioned sick guitar solos. Europa had the subtle tinging sound you'd associate with an ice level. But Redout 2? Track 1: THUMP THUMP THUMP THUMP THUMP THUMP THUMP, almost no variation or progression. Track 2: THUMP THUMP THUMP THUMP THUMP THUMP THUMP, almost no variation or progression. Track 3: THUMP THUMP THUMP THUMP THUMP THUMP THUMP, almost no variation or progression. Hell, I think some of it was already preexisting psytrance wasn't it? Am I the only one who thinks this, or am I just crazy?
@Joltout2 жыл бұрын
The soundtrack has been a point of subjective debate, yea. I personally love it more than 1s, but there are people on both sides of the fence.
@Vyporware2 жыл бұрын
@@Joltout Fair point to anyone who likes it more, but as someone who has been into Psytrance since the early 2010's, the only tracks that ever stood out to me were ones that actually had variation and progression. The exact same boring bassline for 5 minutes straight does not a quality track make. I was honestly rather surprised to not see either Aram Shahbazians or Nils Iver Holtar, considering how synonymous their names were with Redout, and Aram was even responsible for 34BigThings' other game's entire soundtrack.
@Joltout2 жыл бұрын
Best I can describe as to why I like the repetitive bassline, is that it pumps me up and fuels the feeling of speed to me. RO1s songs were good, but they felt like sections of them were ill suited to the racing imo, and if they repeated often enough, would kinda bore me to tears mid race. As for other peoples takes tho, I can't say. But I do enjoy the fun that bass brings.
@kujiko882 жыл бұрын
While I do have my own issues with this soundtrack, I will say that it definitely helps with the whole "flow state" side of things. It's really easy for me to get lost in the gameplay in this game.

Man, I see that nightmare AI is nothing to sneeze at! Have you stayed true to keyboard or are you rocking controller now? I definitely prefer keyboard as the number of buttons seems too much on a controller for me, even though controller seemed more I guess “native” to me, when I tried it. Also best feature of Redout 2?
