Basics How to Fix a Savage Gear Line Through Trout Lure

So Savage Gear, we need to talk. Why for you use substandard wire and hooks on your line through lures?
The lure itself is excellent I like the lure very much but why o why do you rig them with garbage wire and hooks?
Here I have swapped out the wire for solid 100lb titanium leader to some 3/0 BKK Spear hooks making it fit for purpose. Now the wire leader wont go to bits or the crimps fail this means you don’t lose your lure or leave it stuck in the Pikes face while you have a tantrum on the bank swearing that the wire trace let you down.

This Lure is the 3d model which has been discontinued years and years ago, You are giving tip on a lure that's not even being produced anymore and the new 4d ones don't have this problem, sorry but its a bit obvious your stuck for content

As much as I love gazing upon your wonderful face maybe have camera on the work you are doing with your dulcet voice in background. It would negate the sporatic lifting up of individual bits of terminal tackle and be much more informative visually. Obviously the climatic end of lesson would be the reveal and your comely smiling face. Inspired me to tinker with my tackle thank you.

I am open to any and all suggestions to make the videos better for you guys. It's hard to do with a gopro I'd love to have had a birds eye view camera pointing down so you'd all see the bits of tackle I'm using to fix the lure. Thanks for the comment buddy

Trolling them behind a boat is definitely the best way to fish those bad boys, casting those for any length of time will mess you and your gear up .

The smaller ones can be cast and fished like a normal swim swimbait the massive ones are for trolling because you'd need a brush shaft of a rod to cast the buggers and arms like the Hulk.

great hack mate, ive some of the stinger wires from sg and i wouldnt wana be using them on a water with any big fish, here mate its only trout men on certain waters, i cant help from anyone for sea-trout in the tide probably because its not visited by the tweed jacket bridgade thou 😂😂 you should mail s.g. about your upgrade thou dont hold your breath, im still waitin on them about my seatrout pattern, guess you need to be a paying rep for good ideas to count with them 😂😂 anywhom great video mate 👍👍

I think from talking to the savage gear rep for Ireland they know the wire is crap, but they got thousands and thousands of them made in China so they need to get those sold before they can go back and make upgrades. That's what the rep told me 2 years ago. Even if they sold them unrigged so you had to use your own wire that would be a step forward.

@@DavidScobie the worst bit is someones seem them and went aye thatll do get them out and as you say nothin happens then till theyve sold the back log, thou sayin all that mate i harped on at the to introduce eco friendly lure packs (for those tards that still can find a bin) and every video they posted i went on and on about it until they mailed me one day and said i was 100% right and there team was on it, and us being from n.i. mate i think they underestimate are whinge skills, at the heels of the hunt, your providing the company with invaluable market research and improving there product, thats win win for them us and the fish

Dude I regularly fill bin bags with rubbish that anglers left behind when I'm out fishing. One of the bigger Pike Angling Clubs here in NI has members that are great at leaving the Erne in a mess

I do agree. Savage gear stuff is super expensive 😳. They spend it on bright and garish coloured lure patterns to catch the angler. BUT forget the terminal tackle which is the most important bit. I do the same I take out the shit and replace it with my home made stuff. Aleast then I know what's mine made of. Plus it's peace of mind to.

Yep I've had them out the packet where the crimps haven't been compressed properly and the wire leader has fell apart. I tend to stick to natural colours myself but I know what you mean by trying to catch the angler not the fish.

I find that they can need a extra bit of weight in them as well. A small slice with small blade and you can push some extra in there and if ya want to seal it again just heat the knife and hold on the slice and it will seal it

You can buy tungsten push weights that I push into the bait behind the head to add weight they are usefull.
