Sikh weddings should go back to the basics like they did in the past. A simple marriage ceremony and a small celebration gathering afterwards. Too much of this nonsense of showing off nowadays. Who has the better wedding hall or the better limousine or the better DJ. This is coming from a young person. People are caring less about the marriage itself and more about the party

I'm a born practising Sikh. When I got married 14yrs ago I was Mona as I still am. I know myself for someone like me the Anand Karaj is a NO for as I'm not Amritdhari I'm not into doing beadbi at the Gurudwara so I had a register office wedding with my wife as she's European. We only had 7 people there and the after party celebrated was a picnic on the beach with the 7 people that attended. If I and my wife were someone who would follow what the Anand Karaj explains and were Amritdhari then yes I would of gone forward with the Anand Karaj But being who I am I would never disrespectful my Guru. I had offers from some amritdharis that they will do my Anand Karaj at there house but for me thats beadbi and I said sorry I aint ready for the Anand Karaj

This has happened at my local gurdwara sahib. On multiple occasions the gyani ji’s have refused to do the ceremony when they saw the bride’s outfit. The brides have had to cover up for the ceremony to start, and did so. Where the committee will get a mob of angry family members, there is more respect or fear for the people actually performing the ceremony like the gyani ji’s.

A lot of katha vachak and every sikh pracharak says it's not allowed. Like every time there's katha about anand karaj they say filthy songs and dancers are not a part of sikh wedding. But people don't like to follow.

Our Guru tried to free us from materialistic things but people are not ready for this conversation. What used be a sacred ceremony for the husband and wife to connect is now so corrupted. Its so sad that people call themselves Sikh while doing everything a sikh isn't supposed to be do. Is following Gurus hukam is so hard. Seriously so embarrassing.

This is deeply pathetic on Akal Takht's watch. GOD IS EVERYWHERE AND IN EVERYTHING. Guru Ji is not exclusively tied to those man made buildings we call Gurdwaras. Plenty of corruption, misuse of afforded charitable status and maya-centric business practice takes place in committee run Gurdwaras.

Isn't it clicking that they just want to always make more money off of bookings and using this as a sin tactic? Everyone has a choice. As for egos, literally instead of relaying what should be right and wrong for Anand Karaj's, it's ego this and that when doing an outdoor wedding.

@@emperorvader1310 but there are strict rules for anand karaj. If people don't like to take guru granth sahib ji seriously. It's best that anand karaj should be performed in gurudware rather than unknown place where people have no idea what they are doing.

yep - these guys idolise a jagraj guy who advocated having a human guru in your life.. Sikhi vichar forum is real Sikhi. anyone doing research will see that what ppl practice from nihang to this is not the real Sikhi. It's the Vedic form. The original Anand Karaj does not have a lama ritual of 7 times circulation. Just vows on the SGGS. It's actually very unreal and deep how the Sikh religion got hijacked a long time ago. It's almost fully lost. Wearing an over sized turban and scarf dont make you a Sikh. خالص خالصہ, khalseh and khalis is what makes a Sikh. Yes they even changed Khalseh to Khalsa.
