On point and a LeBron fanboy's nightmare. What I've always said is that LeBron fanboys have to give excuses why LeBron lost so much while coming up with excuses on why MJ won so much. Also, as far as I'm concerned, you've just touched the tip of the iceberg. When anybody, who has any sense, begins to explore deeper, the differences between MJ and LeBron then, the chasm becomes much wider. There really is, nor should there ever have been, any comparison between the two.

It's hilarious because when you really look, this was all a marketing ploy. Lebron is not a top 5 best player of all time. If we wanted to win a finals game and we were down by 1, there are 5 guys we would say we would rather have the ball. What other person in the GOAT conversation has a losing record in the finals. And it isn't a "barely losing" type record. Kobe (62%), Bill Russell (64%), Tim Duncan (67%), and MJ (68%) have won the vast majority of their finals games (over 60%). Lebron has won just 40% of his finals games. Wilt (45%), Magic (48% and that is after getting swept twice), Kareem (51%), Larry Bird (51%) are all MUCH better! Wilt gets dropped on people's rankings because he lost more than won, yet he won more of his finals games than Lebron. And Lebron put himself in the best position to win more often (he is the only one who left teams to play with better teams to chase rings, yet he didn't win as much as we want to act like he did, which is why the "he made 8 straight finals argument is senseless, especially when Bill Russell WON EIGHT STRAIGHT RINGS!!!).

Lebron only Averaged 20 in his rookie year. I'm not saying that's not great because I'm not a hater but in my mind Lebron is so far away from MJ and no one is touching his records. Jordan won More in Less time with way less talent and Jordan was facing juggernaut's. Shaq and Penny, Hakeem(won when Jordan Retired then Jordan takes it right back with a 72 win season and a chip), Reggie, Ewing when Jordan was playing I can go on but so many hall of famers that never won a Ring all because of 1 guy if we are truly being honest the goat, Michael Jordan.

Pippen started regressing in 96. He's NOT an alpha, he's an assistant. I don't think he's the greatest #2 of all-time, but to demonstrate how great Jordan was, all he needed was a guy that he could rely on to help. Play some defense, give all out effort, that's all Jordan asked for and needed. He didn't need another MVP candidate to pair with, just somebody to help with maximum effort and play decent defense. Magic had TWO #1 overall picks. LeBron has played with two #1 overall picks.

MJ declined as well from what he was late 80s early 90s so a decline is no excuse MJ himself heavily disagrees and expects his fans to have caught up in enough IQ to understand that he needed pippen and what a player like pippen would bring “probably long after we both retire, people will understand how great he is” But of course here y’all are still unable to see his impact on both ends and facilitation and not distorting offense or defense but creating more flow opportunity and intangibles that only players his level and above can bring. It takes nothing away from MJ to admit pippens greatness What y’all want to force in reality is a narrative that MJ overcame the hardest odds of any player ever and that will always be far from the truth as that’s what Gods will was and how it unfolded.
@Serching4JerryGarcia
@Serching4JerryGarcia 7 ай бұрын
The Scottie Pippen argument against Jordan was always dumb and you can tell they were just trying to find excuses. Pippen became an All-Star level player in his prime but was never the driving force of those championships. Right before Jordan came back in the 95 season, the Bulls were barely above .500 and there were many reports that they wanted to trade Pippen. And after 96, Pippen was on the decline especially when it came to defense.
@julzcdg4880
@julzcdg4880 7 ай бұрын
What majority of people don't know is that Pippen only averaged 16ppg in his career and a peak of 22ppg in just 1 season. "Oh coz he focused on defense" so did MJ being in multiple 1st all defensive teams while scoring while being the main gunner of the team. MJ made Pippen and Pippen owes his career to MJ. MJ is just too kind of a human being for someone who's a brutal leader in practice. There is no comparison.

@jcb4826 1987-88 featured at least 29 Hall of Fame players: Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, James Worthy, Kevin McHale, Robert Parish, Dennis Johnson, Moses Malone, Charles Barkley, Isiah Thomas, Joe Dumars, Dennis Rodman, Karl Malone, John Stockton, Hakeem Olajuwon, Ralph Sampson, Clyde Drexler, Maurice Cheeks, Sidney Moncrief, Adrian Dantley, Alex English, Bernard King, Dominique Wilkins, Patrick Ewing, Chris Mullin, Scottie Pippen, Reggie Miller, Artis Gilmore (very limited minutes). Still plenty of candidates such as DPOY legends Alvin Robertson & Mark Eaton. It was one of the greatest seasons in NBA history as well: MVP race between MJ, Bird, & Magic; MJ as the first MVP to also win the DPOY, the first DPOY to win the scoring title, and the first player to accumulate 200+ steals with 100+ blocks in a season twice; Bird becoming the first player to be in the 50-40-90 club twice; MJ vs 'Nique iconic dunk contest; Bird's legendary 3pt contest threepeat; Bird vs 'Nique Game 7 duel; Isiah's sprained ankle game; Lakers fulfilling Riley's repeat guarantee (ending the league's drought since 1969); Worthy recording the first ever Game 7 triple-double; Stockton finally unleashed from the bench to begin his nine consecutive assists titles along with racing MJ & A. Robertson (all-time spg leader) for the steals title; and so on and so forth. Basketball in general was also a phenomenon in 1992: The Dream Team, Jordan's shrug game, Magic's last ASG, Bird's epic final triple-double, Rodman's 1530 rebounds, Pat Riley's Knicks vs Phil Jackson's Bulls rivalry begins, Laettner's perfect game with famous buzzer beater, Michael Jackson's "Jam" music video, etc...

I love this video, great points, sorry for the long comment but really if I had a basketball youtube channel this would be one of the video I'd make to make young generation to understand how great MJ was, I'd love to talk to you about your videos, you are great! You very wittily pointed out the fact that the Bulls during MJ's rookie season lost against a title contender nobody remembers that as the 80s were dominated by Lakers Celtics and in the early years 76ers, but the Bucks had the 3rd best record in the league that season behind only the teams who ended up to face in the finals Lakers and Boston, the Bucks had one of the best offence in the league and had the second best defense in the league, also they were 50+ win team from season 80-81 to season 86-87, so we are talking about hands down one of the best team of the 80s!!! Moreover the Bulls in the 13 season with MJ (and taking in acount his second season and the 94-95 season, he lost 81 games so it's more 12 season that 13, but whatever...) they lost only against either title contenders or teams who went to the finals: Buck, Lakers, Celtics, Pistons and Magic. In any other case every other team who faced the Bulls between mid 80s to 1998 lost against the Bulls with MJ. I loved also that you talked about the low value of some of MJ's teammates, not to say they were always thrash but still just by watching some games in the 80s one can see that countless times MJ passed the ball even under the rim even to 6.10 ft or 7 ft players and they were missing badly very easy layups, ok in those years the paint was crowded, but I saw games with Bulls centers missing under the rim in ways that are almost unreal, so the myth MJ was not a team player is untrue is just that at a certain point you see that most of the times you try to have you team involved but they miss, so you rather attempt for yourself at least the chance the ball gets into the rim is higher and since the goal of the game is to score more than the opponent, that was only one option...as a matter of fact the triangle offence was implemented to releave MJ of the offensive burden as prior to Jackson other teams knew the Bulls were not good on the offence and they also knew once you brought down MJ they had close to zero other offensive options, they didn't succeed much but still that was the tactic! Great point also about other teams during MJ era, nobody has a problem with other teams leader but when it comes to MJ they either say he was a selfish and that's why LeBron is greater as he is preceived as unselfish or they say the exact opposite so that MJ needed other players to win and that shows MJ was not as good, both statements are contraddictory at best and that alone shows another feeble and goofy attempt of many to discredit MJ; but why the same logic is never applyed for instance to Kareem or Kobe or LeBron? If one does that it's pretty easy to discredit other players but so if one says that "against" LeBron or Kareem is an hater, if said to MJ is facts? It's just childish and overall silly to think that way so kudos on you as you very clearly explained it! Your last point about number of wins per season it's pretty simple to me: the average superstars in today's NBA don't play as many games as they did in the 90s so the teams can't win as much! The reality to me is that most stars play as little as possible to secure being included in the rankings for the awards and to secure a place into the playoffs for the team, but no more than that, some of them load manage even during the playoff, if any star in the 90s would have done that, they would have been crushed by the media, young generations can't even understand the scope of it! In the decade 90s every top 10 play in the major stat categories missed games only for real injuries not to rest and very few games per seasons, and 4 or 5 players in the top 10 of each cathegory played at least 80 games and most of them 2500+ minutes and some even 3000 minutes or more per season. This season alone it's embarrassing to say the least as the only players in the top 10 including all major stats categories (pts, rebs, assists, steals and blocks) to play 80 or more games are Donte DiVincenzo, Sabonis and Holgrem period, nobody else!!!! In the top 20 is one or two more players, no more!!! But the superstars...none of them cracked 80 games, NONE! The closest are Anthony Edwards and Nikola Jokić and DeMar DeRozan all with 79 games, in contrast with the 90s were players like Hakeem Olajuwon, Mutombo, Malone, MJ, Reggie Miller, Payton, Stockton and many many others played at least 80 games and most of the times all 82 games, the last time a superstar player played all 82 games (besides Nikola Jokić in 20-21 who played all 72 games in the Covid season!) is LeBron James in 17-18 and he was 33 years old!!! The media are bombarding us about how much more efficient the training is and how much more athletic today's players are, are they? 'Cause 30 years ago at least 140 players per season played at least 75 games, this season only 75 players in total played more than 75 games and about minutes the difference is staggering in the 90s at least 70 players each season played 2,500 minutes or more per season, this season just 31 players!!!! And people are weary about old heads can't watch today's NBA, that's why!!!

Exactly, in the beginning, was basically MJ by himself... MJ and ? vs Magic Kareem Worthy Cooper Green.... MJ and ? vs Bird Parish McHale DJ Ainge... MJ and ? vs Isaiah Dumars Laimbeer Rodman It was never the Bulls vs any of those teams, it was MJ by himself vs those great teams (Bird even said so)...even scoring 60 he lost cuz it was basically just him..also MJ got swept by teams that made it to the finals and/or won the finals....put any one of those other players with that dru#*ed up mid 80s Bulls team and they don't win either...when MJ finally got a better team around him they were unstoppable but even with a better team make no mistake, he was still the best player on all those Bulls teams and carried the lions share... MJ played in a tough conference...hard to get past Celtics, Pistons, and more...for instance if Lebron was in the same conference as the Warriors, Spurs or mavs he would have only made half the finals he did since they would have put him out before the finals... Let's look at MJ's 84/85 teammates: Orlando Woolridge, Quintin Dailey, Dave Corzine, Dave Greenwood, Steve Johnson, Caldwell Jones, Ennis Whatley, Wes Matthews, Jawann Oldham, Sidney Green, Rod Higgins, Charles Jones, Chris Engler Orlando is the only recognizable name but still just an average player…how is that group supposed to compete against the already championship caliber Celtics/Pistons/Lakers? 85/86 MJ was out with a foot injury Let's look at MJ's 86/87 teammates: Charles Oakley, John Paxson, Gene Banks, Dave Corzine, Earl Cureton, Brad Sellers, Sedale Threatt, Steve Colter, Elston Turner, Mike Brown, Granville Waiters, Ben Poquette, Darren Daye, Fred Cofield, Pete Myers, Perry Young ...getting a little better…at least Oakley and Paxon are recognizable names lost to the Celtics 0-3 (was best of 5) Let's look at MJ's 87/88 teammates: now we finally add Pippen and Grant but they weren't the players yet that they would later become…they only avg'd 7pts a game at this time lost to Pistons 1-4 Let's look at MJ's 88/89 teammates: Pippen and Grant are starting to produce at 12 to 14ppg…added Cartwright, Hodges lost to the Pistons 2-4 Let's look at MJ's 89/90 teammates: NOW Pippen Grant Cartwright and even Paxon were starting to click and turn into the players the Bulls needed them to be lost to the Pistons 3-4 NOW the 90/91 team Jordan, Pippen, Grant, Cartwright, Paxon, Armstrong could finally match/beat/sweep the Pistons Isaiah, Dumars, Rodman, Laimbeer, Salley… See the progression? 1 to 4, then 2 to 4, then 3 to 4, then 4 to 0 sweep…THAT is how you build a team to get over the hump…not teamhopping to join up with already established stars..

I think the reason LeBron James is playing this long is so that these records of scoring 40k points and so on will cover up the weak links in his career when people look back at it years from now. How he always team hopped and played with many all-stars but never had a dynasty. No 3peat or 4 titles in 6 years, best he could do was 2 in Miami, one in Cleveland, and the bubble in 2020.

A 22-23 ft shot was equivalent to a 10-15 ft shot. Guys who were athletic were always taught to get to the rim or dribble into a mid range pull up. As the 3 point shot became more prevalent in the late 80’s - 90’s, u could see MJ adjust to taking those shots, & like u said the more he took, the better his %; but, again, ppl hardly do research or even give context. Objectively speaking, there are only two candidates who qualify. Picture a long, comprehensive list based on the first question: if titles are at/near the top of the list, Russell is it. It was a different time, a different era." Each generation has their own version of a GOAT. HOWEVER... Like him or hate him, LBJ has surpassed many people statistically, but humility is one stat he needs to learn to embrace. The craziest thing I ever heard come out of LBJ's mouth was when he said, "I'm taking my talents to Long Beach", and then promised the fans that, "we're gonna win championships !!! I think Jordan’s the Goat but on ur last point I have to admit that using 50 win teams as ur metric for competition is flawed. This is due to their being expansion teams added into the league, these teams essentially gave free wins to the more dominant teams. Obviously some expansion teams developed over time such as the magic and the heat but initially they were weak teams that led to inflated team records.

I think it's valid. The season before the expansion season in 1996, there were 8 teams that won over 50 games. Teams took the regular season seriously and weren't softies like now. Pippen’s FG% and that of all his teammates went up the season when Jordan first retired in 1994. The team went down from 57 wins to 55 wins, only a 2 game loss. Jordan is the all time leader in PPG by being the all time leader in Usage% and the 2nd highest ever in shots per game.

Very nice job. Thanks. Gotta' remember that Jordan was also double- and even triple-teamed far more than most any other player. Talk about playing handicapped? And he still averaged 34+ pts per game.

Point One: no one should expect a single rookie, however talented, to rescue an entire team. But given his talent, for Chicago to win 11 more games, is not saying a whole lot. Compare that to Bird and his first year; the Celtics won 31 more games and ended with the division's best record. (or, so I just read online).

Point One...I appreciate the dichotomy, however, as a Celtics fan since 1969 Larry Bird already had good players on his team...Michael Jordan had nothing accept Charles Oakley. The Bulls winning 11 more games his rookie year was remarkable and validates how much of his high level of play night in and night out outperforms LBJ any day of the week.

People don’t hate Jordan, majority of people still say he’s the goat. There’s just a generation of people with phones now that have never seen him play lol. So of course they’re only gonna judge him based on how deep his bag is in KZbin highlights. People that have seen Jordan and Bron typically say MJ.

Jordan got drafted in 1984. Scored more points in the 80s. Pippen came in 87. Played more than 6 for 6. Hes was a phenomenon. But started winning rings in 91. And the 90s were outstanding. But it wasn't the 80s

Jordan is my favorite player ever, easily. I thought he was the goat by far for a long time--until I saw the remastered footage of Wilt Chamberlain. Oh Lord.

The problem I saw with Wilt is that he was a ball hog and only started winning when he started passing. Also, he declined in the playoffs. The average height back then was 6ft 4in-5in. Bill Russell contained him at times. Jordan was blocking and stealing from guys 3 times his size.

The only players that should be allowed to be argued with His Airness are The Captain Kareem , the Big Dipper Wilt , and Bill Russell! Period. Outside of 🎩 and 🐦 those men changed the game in some form. Rules where made to eliminate their dominance and elevated if not saved the game, and made it global. Lebron, Shaq, and whomsoever you want to claim as a goat has to get past those 5 first to reach Billy status. Allen iverson and Magic are the only 2 players I love Outside of the 🐐 Michael Jeffrey Jordan

Desperate people come up with desperate arguments like saying Jordan as a rookie didn't win in the playoffs until Pippen arrived. Well, Lebron didn't even make the playoffs in his rookie years and needed 2 All stars on his team to win a championship, unlike Jordan with just one.

Jordans 87-88 season was insane. No player has ever came close to putting a season up like that season. He took home almost every award there is. Jordan has more awards in his career than LeBron and Durant combined. Until a player can put up that kind of season MJ will STAY the GOAT. Lebron isn't the goat, he is great and is a one of a kind player who's longevity at such a high level is something very special but he didn't have the impact that MJ did and most importantly was no where near as dominant as MJ. LeBron coming back against the Warriors to win a chip was insane

I was looking into it. It seems that is the best season he ever had. Not even his championship seasons were better than that. Despite winning MVP, All defense award, scoring title, and finals mvp in his championship years, the 88 season was his best. Thats freakin crazy. Lebron ain't no GOAT at all. Not even close.

I think the main reason Jordan is dissed is because of a strong desire among many to think that the present is always better than the past. If GOAT always privileges Greatest of MY Time, it becomes a silly and misleading label.

Fun fact, since Jordan rookie year, he has taken the Bulls to the playoffs. Yes Jordan got swept twice by a HOF team but what did Jordan do, he learned from his losses, stood with the team, never went to join/start a Super Team, & dominated. Jordan has always praised Pippen cause with Pippen, there wouldn’t be no Jordan but in reality, Jordan was being humble cause the Bulls had the opportunity to get a better superstar than Pippen. If it wasn’t for Jordan, the Bulls wouldn’t be the team it was cause of him. Jordan made everyone great around him.
