Been bass fishing for 40 years. This is first I have heard of trimming up a bit for reverse. Tried it recently and it put a big smile on my face. Doing it all the time now. Thank you.

I'm a little older (retired Navy) but never had a chance to get a bassboat. I've been putting my boating partners boats on the trailer, but still haven't actually driven a bassboat out on the open water. Looking on buying a bassboat real soon, but still a little nervous. Thank you for this video and looking forward to any more or these you share in the future. Cheers!

KILL SWITCH AND PFD......ABSOLUTE MUST. Thank you for emphasizing both of these. Too many videos out there of boat drivers getting tossed and the boat continues running. The kill switch must always be attached when running and everyone should be wearing a PFD. Always plan for the worst thing to happen. If it never does, no harm done. But......if it does happen these two things can save your life.

Thank you. I just bought a Bass Boat last week and I really liked your tip for reverse. One thing I noticed was how hard the steering is when the motor is trimmed down on a slow plane. Is that normal? The stearing really lightens up alot when I trim it up once the boat is up on plane, but I can't imagine why it is so stiff while I'm trying to maneuver at slow speeds like around the dock. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to make this video. I just found your channel and plan on watching all your videos.

Good video, I have been driving my boat now for over 3 years. When I drive it I'm not driving it to full speed. I'm looking at the tach and I'm not going over 5400. I read in a manual that the Mercury Optimax rpm is like 5460. My question is the engine governed so I could drive it wide open or should I be looking at the tech?

I’ve wondered why kill switches are really important on modern-day boats with hot foots? If you get ejected wouldn’t the boat just idle?
@goMerXxV2
@goMerXxV2 4 жыл бұрын
Hunter Bull always nice to have as many fail safes as possible, in the event your hot foot doesn’t return to idle during ejection, like somthing jammed, or malfunction, etc, you have that peice of mind knowing 100% the engine will be killed. Better to have it and never need it, than to need it and not have it.
