Once went 70 in a 225 mercury powered 21ft ASTRO. Plenty fast enough on water, couldn't focus on anything ahead of us, we were on Wixom lake in michigan probably 20 years ago now. It's drained now since the dam broke. Hope it gets rebuilt soon.

Thank you for sharing this informative video of blow out and what it could mean in serious speeds. I don't have owned boat faster than 40,5 knots but that was small boat what was overpowered 2,5x of rating, and I don't even have been abroad with a boat faster than 45 knots. But 102 MPH is another world.

What is a blow out? Like the boat decided to become an airplane kinda thing? I mean excuse my naivety but the water was practically glass so I’m making assumptions about what went wrong here. I’m a new bass boater and I keep it under 60mph (which is sketchy enough for me) but I’m trying to gain as much knowledge as possible. Thanks. Glad everyone was okay. Boats can be fixed or replaced.
@rooster15533 жыл бұрын
A "blow out" can happen when the prop gets to high in the water and sucks air into it, loosing all the forward thrust.
@whattheflock89233 жыл бұрын

@whattheflock89233 жыл бұрын
@@rooster1553 is that similar to cavitation?
@rooster15533 жыл бұрын
@@whattheflock8923 Yes and no...........cavitation is caused from the prop loosing "grip" in the water for anyone of a number of reasons and increasing the amount of slipping in your prop. What happens in the video is ventilation where air is sucked into the prop for whatever reason, possibly just to high on the jackplate or trim. Not judging the driver because he was the one driving the boat not me and I have no way of knowing what he was feeling in the boat. People who have never been in a boat capable of these kind of speeds don't really understand how close to the edge you are. I'm just glad nobody was hurt
@walterandreis50833 жыл бұрын
@@rooster1553 That's it! I've lifted the jackplate too high and too fast, but what really caused the crash is that I was looking to the phone on the hand of my buddy on the exact split second that i've lost forward thrust (blowout), and over steered to adjust, causing the lost of control... I had already recovered that boat from blowout's over 90ish mph more than 20 times at that moment during the setup process. but the self confidence almost killed me...
