Bass Fishing a Spillway on the West Fork Trinity River in Fort Worth, Texas!

In this video I went fishing at a super cool spillway that I found in Fort Worth, Texas! I know that fish love to hang around moving water, so I was excited to try out this spot. I love fly fishing the Trinity and catch most of my fish along the bank. Spring and Summer are definitely better times.

I got a nice 2+ pounder on Sunday between 183 and White Settlement, maybe a a little over a mile from where you were. Got it with a Texas rig with a PB&J Z-Man hula stick.

Enjoyed the video. That looks like a perfect spot to throw a rooster tail or road runner. I've done well with those this time of year below Ray Roberts and Lewisville. Especially if you have white bass and spots.

I want to go try the Lewisville spillway too. I’ve been itching to catch some white bass and spotted bass, so maybe I should try down sizing my lures. Thank you for the support Scott!

My only tip is slow down and find places where the current is broken! Looks beautiful!

Thank you! I move up and down the bank very easily at this spot so I didn’t get to try many spots that looked different. I’ll keep at it though

@@thesouthwes I'd maybe work those pilings really slow. Any little bit of rock that breaks the current ever so subtly will hold fish! I think a crankbait that's meant to dive deeper than you're fishing could really work well because you can kinda bang it into the rocks and then let it sit and repeat and really helps slow the retrieve down.

@@thesouthwes ya it's a little slower. I have better luck in rivers regardless. Stick to those banks. They tuck up underneath. Spillways are always biting. Drainages, the usual. Spinner baits and rattles work this time of year in river.

I’ve got a few videos fishing that spot up above that spillway 🤙🏽. Looks like you had fun. When you fish the trinity you have to cover ALOT of water. They are rarely bunched up. I’ve got a bunch of trinity videos if you wanna check em out. I do really well there.

Trinity is a hit or miss as big as it is. But I’ve heard of people catching Striper. 🎣
