Maybe for fish health? Bass stomachs can’t process soft plastics so that might be a reason but I’m not a %100 sure why… good question for Taku!

Just to protect fish and the environment. Back in Japan in the late 90s, bass fishing was booming and there were so many people fishing there, like bank fisherman every 10 feet around the lake, made the lake full of snugged plastic worms. There was a concern that other species eat these snagged soft plastics and die from it. So yes, it's for protection (while pork lures go back to the nature,,,, ).
