I am going to straight up copy your barrel plug idea for my office chair - bass shaker :) thanks heaps for putting this out here

I really like the design, I'll actually be making one myself using your first video. My only question is why did you not decide to go with a bluetooth adapter if the cord was the problem they'll relatively cheap and pretty easy to hook up usually just RCA or a 3.5mm connection. Did you avoid on because of the quality(wether it's loss of information or interference) of the signal or hardware restrictions, or did you just not think of it?

Good question, it was avoided for a couple reasons, the cable isn't only providing signal but also power. So to go wireless you'll need a battery solution, and one which has enough amps to drive the transducers. Also bluetooth latency isn't great, I found a couple 2.4ghz transmitters which would do the job but yeah that put me back to the battery issue. I'm really happy with the plug, it's sooooo simple, and I've been playing more games with my bass shaker chair than ever. I know it's such a simple thing but the coiled cable with plug has really made it enjoyable to use :)

@@camshand that's a good point I think the latency may be the biggest issue to get around, I wonder if there's a type of Bluetooth battery powered amplifier that would work that's compact enough to fit in the original spot you mounted the transducer. Then again it'd probably be pretty expensive, have worse latency and you'd have remember to charge it. I guess the simpler and more practical solution seems to be a better fix in this case especially cause it still looks super clean. Keep up the videos, I really enjoy your style and it's super easy to follow and understand. The first video I watched of yours I was shocked to see you don't have more subscribers, you definitely deserve more attention.

I’ve heard filming things can make it twice as long to do. Thanks!

Considering a project like this to help with mixing sub bass in an apartment, and I've got some questions: How loud are the bass shakers in the same room? Would someone next to me get annoyed? Is some kind of carpet/mat necessary to reduce transmission through the floor?
@camshand3 жыл бұрын
There's a point in the video where I'm talking and say "They're running right now" the only sound you'll hear is vibrations of loose things on the chair or if you clip the transducers as they then make a metal against plastic tap. But if you keep them within a general range it's probably no worse than normal sound leakage from headphones. The original SubPac was designed for that purpose, to mix sub frequencies in an apartment late at night so this project is what you're after :)

Instead of the DC plugs will the RCA plugs work too? Or they may not be able to handle 50watts?
@camshand Жыл бұрын
Good question! RCA is usually a low watt signal and the wires by default are quite thin. You could possibly use the connector and just soldier larger cables. I originally was going to use 1/4" jacks but a guy at the local electronics store said using DC will also ensure a low watt device isn't accidentally plugged in. Given it's in my setup I know what it does, but I get the idea of using a plug that's associated with the power level 🤙 Thanks for watching, can see you saw the bass shaker vid, very good questions!

@@camshand Yeah I thought DC connectors were for... well powering stuff up, not for audio.. well it's transfering both power and audio so it may be the best fit, other than some female/male banana plugs.

nice, I have 4 bass shakers on my simracing rig and would like to use them for music and games like you did, I'm really struggling to understand how you get the bass shakers to work along with the speakers correctly. Can anyone help?

Look into Voicemeeter Banana if you have windows, this will let you send audio output to two seperate output devices. e.g. 3.5mm headphone jack for a sub amp, and a USB DAC for headphones/speakers at the same time 👍
