Not sure I've ever come across a song that's better suited for Home Free to knock out the park -- brilliant job to all them, and a big shoutout to Tim for raking in another Pit Viper status 🐍 What are some of your favorite moments from this cover?

The vocals are spot on, for sure! But I loved how they kept the video production simple, yet fun with the details. As you pointed out, their heights... pretty sure Adam Chance is taller than 4'8". Add in Tim's playful smirk when he drops, so funny. I love when they drop in subtle hints of humor. Great reaction from you.

I like trying to figure out what they're "in" for. I think Adam Chance for con man (it's the Spock eyebrow thing), Rob for embezzling, Austin for grand theft auto, Tim's the sociopathic killer, and Adam Rupp is just full Section 8 psycho.

As an older person, I recognize that all of the sounds that the group are producing in the background are sounds that are associated with trains, both the percussion and the vocal sounds. Austins' wail, is reminiscent of a train whistle of old, the percussion is reminiscent of the wheels on the train track, Tims' low hum could be a throwback to the electric train diesel tractor motor. Listen again and notice these train analogies. Whomever wrote this arraignment obviously grew up in a time of trains, or lived near trains growing up.

I was a choir director in a former life, and working with not-quite-so-gifted amateurs. You had to keep it fresh, otherwise nobody would care. I'd do it by changing up the time signatures and changing up who sang what section. It was a challenge. And, I learned something here. Maybe I'll be in that position again, and you gave me some ideas for doing it better. Thanks!

I've said it before, and I'll say it again... Home Free are all GREAT singers, but you will have to admin that good singers are pretty much a dime-a-dozen. Just look at KZbin. They're all over the place... some really phenomenal singers (which of course, each Home Free member is). Where Home Free REALLY shines is when they sing together. As a group, I think they are unbeatable. The arrangements they are able to put together are so good.

WOW!!! Okay, I grew up playing alto sax, moved on. to Bari sax in high school and started learning guitar in middle school. I also picked up pretty much anything else that has strings and reeds. So at 42, I can confidently say I am familiar with music, a little! But I've never really explored traditional vocals or my own range until recently and until now... I HAD NO IDEA that chest fry existed!! I mean I learned Tuvan throat singing techniques( and actually hear some interesting similarities!) but just straight up chest fry...*mind completely freakin blown* Thank you so much for opening my eyes(and range!!) to this technique and to all of these bands/ vocalists!!! I love this. One of my favorites of theirs. You break it down so well and can hear some parts I have a hard time hearing but then you’re a trained singer. I just love their version. Love Adam’s harmonica and Austin’s train like sounds. Rob has soul and Tim and Chance kill their low notes. You’re right, that is not their real heights but they’re fairly tall, all between 6’1” to 6’4”. Tim is supposedly 6’ 3”, that’s what some fans have said. Enjoyed your reaction.

I've seen some behind scenes of them and it is some lip sync because they've pre-recorded in the studio, but they also do some live singing during the shoot to make it match up and seem real with expressionism, etc. They are all 6'1 to 6'4" tall. They were in quarantine and had to hang up their own backgrounds in their home studio closet or wherever they set up and plus they have a sense of humor.

That's awesome man! It was so nice to hear you talk about E2 being a relatively low note, I now consider myself a baritone because of my comfortable place in the 3rd- 4th octave, but knowing that my low E to Db are significant makes me feel good!

I like that Tim lowers his head when he sings "I hang my head and cry." I wonder if that changes the difficulty of producing the note. Also, as a recommendation you should look at The HU, a Mongolian rock band that has become popular in the US. I'm interested in your take on their throat singing. 'Yuve Yuve Yu' is the first one the I heard. They also have songs with Lzzy Hale and Jacoby Shaddix.

I'm sure you noticed, too, that Adam cocks and shoots an invisible shotgun at (their)1:05. I thought that was hilarious. This song was obviously recorded during the covid lockdowns; each of them was alone in his space. I'm just guessing here, but I think they may sing (if not record) during the video and not just lip-sync. That is my impression from their video about the making of "How Great Thou Art." And, for the record, you do add a lot of informative insights, one of the reasons I keep coming back here. Thank you.

Peter, your voice is awesome. You have that resonance in your voice like Tim Foust does. The Chiaroscuro light and dark sound. Makes it sound you are frying no matter what note. Other bases sound muddied or sort of flat- not note wise but like turning the treble all the way off. To me not as pleasant to the ears. Tim's part in Man of Constant Sorrow is a perfect example of how your voice sounds like his. Nice.

I've enjoyed your past analysis. I see how it brought back memories for you. Somethings I picked out & possibly listening to the arrangements wasn't focused on: Regarding Folsom: - Height Yeah, the height charts, they are all over the place & changing throughout. (Are any of them really 4'6"?) -Appearance Rob & Austin seemed to be in for a 'misdemeanor' crime as they're dancing, freer & more relaxed Tim & Chance seem to be more serious maybe lifers? Adam Rupp seems to be crazy - Jumpsuits Some loose, others tight (Adam's looks like it's for a baby) - Tim AND Chance BOTH sound a lot like Johnny Cash in this video - Tim Lighting, makeup & hair dyed drastic to give older ghoulish hollowed evil look (Cash stated in an interview that he tried to think of the craziest thing to put in this song, "But I shot a man in Reno, Just to watch him die") *Low Note While Tim is hitting the low note, he puts on a devilish grin (surprised didn't mention as discussed Austin's ability to make his high notes effortlessly). - Rupp He was acting like a crazy man throughout (walking all over the pic while everyone else is staying relatively in place) ---Percussion NOTE: IT'S NOT 90% STANDARD PERCUSSION! WHY? Johnny Cash was known for 'prison/railroad songs'. Railroad songs? Cash stated growing up hearing the trains meant ability to go wherever & follow dreams. Same reasoning those in prison could hear the trains & daydreaming could take them away from prison. Hence term railroad songs. Adam's doing sounds of a train riding on railroad tracks plus periodically the clinking noise going over the metal connectors PLEASE: PLAY THIS LINK!!! kzbin.info/www/bejne/l5bYfXSod6acfKs Then, go back & replay the song with your eyes closed (no visual distractions). You'll hear Adam's part coming through. I think he nails this sound. *A few commented about this, there's even a sound of him prepping a shotgun! (You looked at him, but didn't realizeg he was making the noise of actual shotgun sound. Those of us that handled guns know he came if not it to the sound) -Arrangement Only Tim & Chance are sounding 'country' during entire song. (You even mentioned Tim's twang) In other songs, Robb & Austin change up their 'twangs'/stylings to differentiate between them, here it's Tim & Chance. The rest are doing more of a jazz style arrangement (ala Manhattan Transfer style). The tenor duo is the one putting a modern response twist as well as jazz chords.

I absolutely love watching your reaction videos. I love the in depth analysis you provide, it's more than just a "reaction" and I love that. Also, love hearing you sing along, would definitely love to hear you do a country cover for sure. Would be interesting to see what you could do with King of the Road. That would be amazing to be honest. Another great video though, can't wait for the next one 😁 And I must say, THANK YOU so much for explaining how some vocal pieces work, the chest fry and subharmonics, I greatly appreciate how you really break things down

I belong to Patreon and asked Home Free how tall the guys actually are because of the back drop showing Chance just over 5 feet tall. The answer was that Tim, Chance, Adam and Austin are 6'2" tall and Rob is 6'3" tall. These are some tall and talented men!

I personally have never liked "music reaction" videos Because most of the creators don't really react and just sit there not doing anything. I've actually enjoyed watching a number of your videos as you really deeply analyze it and really add alot to the videos and songs, keep up the good work man! I'll be sure to check some more videos out :)

I love your analysis, it makes me so interested in music despite a lack of knowledge. So many people just react. You and the charismatic voice are my two favorites for true breakdowns

You have opened Pandora's box when you asked for information regarding Home Free. As for songs to review, there are a bunch. My favorites are Auld Lang Syne, In the Blood, and Helplessly Hoping. Oh, and Country Roads.

I love that they do Helplessly Hoping and Brothers in Arms. It shows their pure singing ability without acting or beatbox from Rupp.

Really enjoy your reactions! First time tonight I've seen you believe it or not! My dad was a true deep bass in a barbershop quartet when I was young and how I loved that. And you have a really awesome bass voice. Makes me happy! Thanks and keep on the HF journey. Tim goes nice and low in Down to the Honky Tonk too. That's fun. Love everything they do! Take are.

I heard average height of the group is 6’2,” and is interesting when fans go for a portrait with anyone or all of them. They tower over folks.

This song is written in the Dorian mode, which is fun... since you can play with the minor and Major 3rds. Plus, you can shift the 6th to nearly sound diminished.

Know what I love about your reaction vids? The facial expressions! You get so into it! Seeing somebody that knows their stuff really enjoy a performance really then makes that song better somehow. Keep it up! (and thanks for explaining subs! adding to my music knowledge every day!) 😍
