➡️ BRR BRR DENG! "Dig" by ‪@mudvayne‬ was such a unique song to drop in the year 2000 and the ferocious bass grooves from bassist Ryan Martinie absolutely drove the sound on their debut release L.D. 50. I truly loved the resurgence of this track with the 'Brbr Deng' memes years ago, as it really highlighted what an incredible bass player Ryan is to younger audiences. In this video, I analyze the amazing "Ryan's Angle" version of their official music video which allows me to really dissect his technique and playing style. I focus on his incredibly seasoned showmanship, his mastery of fast technique switching, his slap & pop technique, chordal strumming, and his constant use of the floating-thumb technique when resetting as he transitions from slapping to fingerstyle. Last but not least, his signature Warwick Thumb bass tone adds an incredibly intense texture to Mudvayne's heavy riffs, so I had to break mine out, too...

Ryan on this album was the first time i felt like i had "heard" bass on a metal album! I remember hearing severed for the first time and being hooked on bass ever since! Prod and death blooms are also super top tier bangers too 🔥🤘😄🤘🔥

Ryan is an icon. No one was playing bass like him in the metal scene. Another rad bass player you should check out is Dan Briggs from between the buried and me. He's a monster too.
