Some of the most metal songs they’ve ever made were on this album.

Great to see some more Muse! They were the band that inspired me to pick up my first bass. I know on the last video you mentioned being familiar with their Absolution-Blackholes-Resistance era stuff. I could recommend so many songs from them but I think it would be cool to check out Hyper Music or New Born from Origins of Symmetry for another older song and Reapers or The Handler from Drones for some newer(ish) stuff.

You either get Muse and what they do sonically from Album to album or you don’t. They don’t have a bad Album really if you know them. May not be the sound you like but they know their craft well
@smb15222 күн бұрын
Agree except Simulation Theory. It was well crafted but it was to clean for me. On every other Muse album i discovered more and more details the more i listened to it. But not on Simulations Theory. Heard it once, discovered almost no details later. But still a good Album to listen to from time to time.

A Muse song with a similar funky style off of 2nd Law is Panic Station, which has an excellent bass line you'd definitely enjoy if you haven't already heard it.

Watching clips of Chris play this live I can confirm he is definitely playing a 5 string tuned to standard however there are some interesting points to his playing on this song that seem to get overlooked. In the verses he’s playing the same line but an octave higher with some finger tapping and in the final chorus he plays some slap notes between the normal lines.
@LowEndUniversityАй бұрын
Oh wow, that's interesting and wouldn't have thought it to be played that way. I'll have to look it up!

The end of the verse vocal line sounds like Make Me Smile by Chicago

You mention that he might have an alternate tuning, there were a couple (very few) shots in the video where you can see him playing.

Another banger video. But dude, if you’re in the holiday spirit, now’s the PERFECT time to check out Alkaline Trio. Dan Andriano’s a big personal influence, finds a place in the power trio in a very similar way to Mike Dirnt in Green Day. Recommended songs: Jaked On Green Beers, Armageddon, Hell Yes, Mr. Chainsaw, Continental, Clavicle, ‘97 (you’ll see Radio as a top song, and it’s great, but not best example for your purposes).

It's not poppy. Its years of production experience. It's 100% self produced and was a project designed to be fun. They tried to hit a bunch of different styles. We are f n' f'd is a good example.

@AtomizedSoundАй бұрын
They aren’t for everyone in their stylistic and sonic variations they do from Album to album but to me that’s what makes them great and sets them apart from their peers so to speak. They push their own boundaries in their songwriting and for me and my music tastes they hit the nail on the head. If you prefer one sound they had on one album all the way through then you are mostly out of luck. Can’t please everyone but Muse is Muse
