i bought a squier paranormal jazz bass in blonde butterscotch (i named it Blondie) and its a DREAM to play, it has that classic j bass growl to it and with faltwounds it's even better! I can see myself going to hundreds of gigs with it and it'll still play brand new! I will take it (and a rickenbacker 4003 in ruby red when i get one) to the grave, it's my most prized possession!

I didn't buy any new basses this year, but instead went the DIY route and built one myself. PJ in Telebody with Tele headstock. Just need to shim the neck still to get it playable. If I were to buy a new bass at the moment though I'd really be looking at a headless one.

Yes, Julia, I bought a new bass this year. It's the shorty version of the Sterling MM Ray in Daphne blue; it's remarkably true to the celebrated MM sound. (I'm also converting a Fender players J-bass neck into a fretless--that's kinda like buying a new bass, yes, no?)
