Jigs are one of the best lures because you can fish the super shallow super deep, in clear water and muddy water, fast and slow, on the bottom or swimming. You can do everything with a jig and it can mimic a bluegill, crawfish, shad or anything other object a bass eats.
In this video I want to go in depth when it comes to fishing a jig!
BassFishingHQ is dedicated to teaching people how to catch more and bigger bass. I will go over different bass fishing tips & techniques that will put more fish in the boat or on the shore. Whether you are just starting out or a seasoned tournament angler, my goal is to help you catch more bass.

Thank you Tyler! I have tried jigs occasionally over the past 40 years but never could figure them out. Truthfully I got frustrated and never gave them a chance. A few casts here and there and then tie something else on. After watching a couple of your previous jig videos a few months back I decided that I was going to catch bass on a jig, no matter what. I put 2 rods on the boat with a jig on both. Took a few spares and trailers with me and nothing else. Spent the day casting until I finally caught one. That was back in late August. I have been burning them up on jigs ever since, experimenting with different retrieves, yesterday was an awesome jig day. Mid October I topped 8 pounds (my PB) for the first time ever! I am now obsessed with them after being so frustrated for many years. Simply put, I had to MAKE myself do it! Now this video, the icing on the cake! Thanks again Tyler!!!

You nailed my fishing "type" right on the head when you mentioned a fisherman not having experience/confidence in a particular lure type. I have several hundred, if not a thousand, dollars of lures but when I get to my pond it's ALWAYS Booyah tandem spinners (yes only Booyah) or a swimbait like a Storm Wildeye Crappie. The only reason I do this is cause it's what I know and don't have the confidence to learn a new lure. You are 100% correct, I gotta get out of my comfort zone and expand my knowledge to raise my catch average. Thank you good sir, keep the educational videos comin!

This was undoubtedly the best video on bass fishing ever made. IMO. Perhaps it because I love jig fishing. I will add this, dead sticking catches a lot of big bass for me but it’s usually in really cold water with pork. I think in cold water that pork trailer matches the slow movement of other natural movements in the water. Great video!!! Thank you.

I bought 96 various Stanley jigs at a Niles, Illinois Sportmart 20 years ago on clearance for 13 cents apiece. I still have some today. I caught an 18" largemouth the other other day in my local river, flipping a brown 5/16 oz model with a Yum LBT Crawbug into pockets along a grassy cattail covered bank.

Thank you for all your jig videos. I had no confidence in a jig and thought they were a waist of time. However, after watching as many of your videos on jigs and Tyler Anderson's as well The Fluke Master I started going out on my kayak with no baits but jigs. The third time out I was disgusted that I had not caught any bass. I decided to change baits and left my jig dragging on the bottom while setting up another rod. I ended up catching an almost 3 lb bass by mistake and the light bulb went off, Now jig fishing is my favorite way to catch bass . Thank you so much!!!

Great quality Info Mr Sir !! Out here in the California Motherload LAkes last December I went out with a Guide ( Ryan Cook Fishing ) who is the GO TO GUY for putting you on the Fish !! I learned to throw a 1/2oz football jig in 35'-60' during fall/winter and watching this is like a great refresher course 😎👊 since then, I fish the Jig all year around !! it's my confidence Bait .... went out Monday and chased the birds spooning the suspended ones ,,jerk bait deep crankbait ⭕caught soon as I threw the Jig 17.75'' 16.5'' 1 break off in a tree and missed 3 others due to Operator Hook setting error LoL ... started swimming off with it and couldn't reel up the slack fast enough 😦 THanks for The In depth break-down of how you Get 'er Done with a Jig 🤠

I spent years being completely intimidated by jigs. Too many heads, too many trailers, didn’t know what to do with them…I just avoided them. Then one summer something clicked and I decided I was going to fish nothing but a jig until I caught something…bought a couple black and blue jigs (naturally…) and whatever trailer looked good. I don’t even remember. What I *do* remember, and quite vividly, is pulling up to a dock, lobbing it over, watching my slack line start to move off to the side, thinking “?” then swinging away on a nice little bass…on the very first cast. By the end of the first day I realized there was no magical voodoo mojo shtick. You could work it however you wanted (including swimming) and I went from not even wanting to try it to having a new confidence bait IMMEDIATELY. Fast forward to today…I’m tying my own jigs and I have entire boxes dedicated to them. Anybody who thinks jigs are too much…just buy a 1/2 or (my personal favorite) 3/8 oz jig that appeals to you…same with the trailer…then give it a try. My experience was a fluke…expecting to catch something immediately on any bait is unrealistic and I know that I got lucky. TLDR: Jigs aren’t intimidating at all. In some ways, they’re the easiest and most versatile baits ever devised.

@OveRated you will. Especially in the beginning. Buy cheap ones to start and just understand that is the learning curve till you start to understand the difference between a branch and a bite. If I lose one now it's usually hung up on someone's broken off line in the brush. Losing lures is part of fishing. But if you are not getting hung up your not fishing where the fish are

I love jigs and swim jigs. I love a t-rig too! The thing I’ve figured out with a t-rig is ( I don’t have issues with a hook up with a t-rig by doing this.) letting the bass have the bait longer than usual, but not to long maybe 5 seconds instead of 2 or 3 seconds. Exactly if your using a bigger soft plastic. I’ve hook so many small bass on a zoom ol monster worm by doing this. Let them swim a few more seconds with it and feeling the weight of the fish and then CRACK! Fish on!! Lol Hi I’m Jonathan and I have a channel Fishing With Faith Outdoors to help those in the middle/south Ga areas please give it a look! God bless.

Hey Tyler, I got on to Freedom Jigs just this spring. They had what I thought was the best-looking Bluegill jig, and I bought a couple. I started cracking em on that jig, so I went back and cleaned the peg off. I think I have about 10 of that one jig. After finding em, I bought a bunch of their heavier jigs for deep water and love em. I caught an 8 lber on the Bluegill jig and a bunch of nice smallmouth on those heavier deep water jigs.

From Pennsylvania and I fish mostly rivers. The Susquehanna and smallmouth bass are my 2 favorite things to do next to things I do with my girlfriend lol. But I have used tons of different types of lures to catch them . Hands down the jig catches more and bigger smallmouth than anything else I have tried. I use a 1/8 oz mushroom head and a 3" Fat Albert grub . This combo has out fished every single guy I have went out wadding with. I often have to give up a jig and bag if grubs to who ever I go with. The first time they go. The second time if they haven't bought them it's tuff luck . They can enjoy watching me put on a clinic all day 😂.

They seem to catch just as many fish as the jigs that are twice the price. I also use their spinner baits. For bladed jigs I use the Z-man weedless chatterbaits. They’re a couple bucks more than the regular chatterbaits but I think it’s worth it especially if you fish water with a lot of vegetation.

I have used the 1/4 ball head with a Yamamoto hula grub for years. When fish aren't biting, I throw them. Heck, it's the best way to fish IMO.

I've found this year up north throughout the fall transition, that no matter where I'm fishing, the bass always stick with structure. And any piece of vegetation that still has any green to it. But the bigger bass were on structure. Hope this helps some people.

Maybe you can explain the differences on each kind of bite and when to set the hook, no one ever talks in depth of this topic other then that amazing video very helpful

I never used to use a jig hardly at all but started using nothing but a jig and caught my PB on it, and then several over 5lbs after that
