Hey Hank, I noticed on the Zoom Super Chunk you rig the fat side up where as some pro's rig it fat side down. Randy Blaukat from Intuitive Angling did a whole video about the Zoom Super Chunk and how he rigs it fat side down. What are your thoughts?
@BassGeek2 жыл бұрын
I do it based on the time of year and the profile I want the bait to give. During the winter crawdads that are dying tend to keep appendages tight to the body and lay on the bottom. Not in the defensive potion. As it warms that changes. Or are we all just overthinking it and it doesn’t really matter? 😂
@BassDudeFishn2 жыл бұрын
@@BassGeek , yep, probably overthinking it. It shouldn't matter as long as it catches fish.

There just ain't nothing like the fluid action of a good PORK CHUNK in winter. Altough, these days, you gotta buy 3 bottles just to get one GOOD pork frog! Also, on any beaver style bait, I like to leave the tentacles together, especially in winter. My reasons for this are twofold. 1st, it gives less action, closer mimicking crawfish in cold water. More importantly, when left intact, it closer resembles a FLEEING craw's FOLDED UP claws, rather than it's fighting stance. I discovered this while cleaning a fish in Florida. This fish had eaten a shiner, a frog, and a crawfish. I put these aside as I cleaned 3 small bass (per the pond owner's request). As I looked at that (still intact) craw, I realized that he was folded up, as if fleeing. I started leaving my (hematoma, always!) beaver's tentacles together and, man, has that made all the difference! It works, especially in cold water. 👍🏼
@BassGeek2 жыл бұрын
Yeah I agree just depends on water this rodents when you take the extra appendage off even when ya separate the claws they come together when moved and over lap

Oh Yeah everything is going great. I should have it sometime around Feb. That is a great short. I do at times and I don't at others. Right now I don't trim them. Summer I do.
