In Senegal’s where presidential elections were held over the weekend, a new figure has emerged, igniting flames of passion and stirring the hearts of the nation's people with promises of change and renewal. A victory in the first round appears likely for the opposition candidate, 44 year old Bassirou Diomaye Faye.
Pitching himself as part of a new generation of politicians, Bassirou Diomaye Faye believes in national sovereignty, a fairer distribution of wealth, and reform of what he sees as a corrupt justice system.
His party also says that it wants to do away with the French "economic stranglehold" on Senegal. Sonko proposes to leave the CFA franc… While we are waiting for official confirmations, now is the right time to profile Bassirou Diomaye Faye, the 44 year old who looks set to be the next president of Senegal and also become West Africa’s youngest democratically elected president.
