This module is great when combined with the digitakt 2 euclidean sequencers sending triggers through a midi to cv converter. You can generate a trigger pattern then commit it to the track and edit it which you can't do with eurorack sequencers like the turing machine or marbles.

As he was disabling steps in his mini sequencer I was wondering how this would play with a Torso T-1...
@eurotiumАй бұрын
Can't you do this by sending triggers to marbles ? I´m almost sure you can. Marbles will only advance if you send a trigger to its clock, I dont think it has to be a clock sent in, but any trigger. So, the way I see it, this can be mimetized (pun intended) with marbles.Marbles adds a few things, has less cv outs but on the other hand has more triggers.Even stuff as the uGrids is great to send trigger streams to these sort of modules (gamut included) and you can use grids to send either preset phrases, as well as euclidian stuff (alternate mode) and you have a chaos factor that you can dial so it varies the trigger stream a little bit. Modular is such an immense world it hurts :)
@eurotiumАй бұрын
also, there is an alternate firmware for Marbles that allows a sh1tload of new stuff, namely up to 128 steps (infinity was always there if you unlock x or y) and there is one option in that firmware that allows you to reset marbles by sending a trigger to the right clock (x). if you have a marbles unit you are losing a lot by not using the alternate firmware, especially since you can opt in or out of each particular alternative function (so you can have clock reset on X while keeping the remaining functions unaltered).

it's okay, you'll get where you're going then find ways to work these random sources in. i just added a opp ned after using exclusively deterministic step sequencers for years. it's even better to add those flavours once you have dialed in your own distinct sound w/those core building blocks.

@martebar67004 ай бұрын
If you want to lock the note just use a sample & hold ! Honestly, you could emulate what this module does by sending a turing machine to a quantizer through an attenuator and a scaler to change the "height" and the "amplitude" of the sequence and then sample the signal with an S&H. But with modular the possibilities are so vast, mix an lfo or noise to the sequence, or another sequence with a different clock and number of steps. If you quantize and S&H, you will always get something musically and rhythmically relevant (sampling a sequence with a rhythmical gate is kinda like a rhythm quantizer if you think about it) Anyway, that's probably my favourite thing to do with modular !
@festuswilliams6543 ай бұрын

Ricky, I watched another video that was talking about the inputs being sound sources (pitch?)... But yours is the sequence or trig - from Steppy.... and that makes more sense... I still don't quite understand the whole thing....
@RickyTinez2 ай бұрын
TL:DR when you send it a trigger, it moves forward one step in its randomized sequence. When you lock in a sequence, it will still move forward one step within that locked in sequence. If you use audio at its inputs it'd probably be moving forward really fast haha. I like using Steppy to move the randomized sequence forward because it allows me to add breaks or new rhythmic patterns instead of having a steady 16th note clock. And if I like/lock in a pattern, I can keep those notes but explore the rate at which they play by adding or removing steps from steppy
