Totally agree! I love artists which can make their own music, but are also able to take another song and do it so well that they make it their own. A good example from Bastille is "No Angels", which is a cover of No Scrubs with the background music from a song called Angels (if you didn't know or hadn't heard of it).

Oh, Dan. I know thousands of other women are in love with you, but when you sing "Someone You Loved" my heart melts. I am feelings things deep down that I haven't felt in a very long time. Then you transition into Somebody Told Me and I just dissolve. (The Killers are my other favourite band). And then Use Somebody. Something lurched inside my chest. (Kings of Leon was my ex's favourite band... feeling many, many things....) And now I'm just sitting here on my floor weeping because this is so beautiful.

I actually really loved this. I'd love to hear him do full covers of all of these (but especially Someone You Loved, Use Somebody, and Somebody Told Me) But honestly I'd be happy to hear him do a full cover of Somebody to Love and Someone Like You, too, though. I'm going to do a deep dive of KZbin tomorrow to see if he has done full versions of any of them...but right now it's 5am and I need sleep! lol I love the way Bastille mashed up all these songs (and I love the theme of this medley). I love that they're all songs that you wouldn't immediately think of weaving together, melodically speaking, but once you stop to think about all the titles for a second it makes perfect sense.

I absolutely love this. Such an exquisite voice. Having been in a very dark place mentally for many years, I hadn't heard of Bastille. The other night I saw Dan singing on the Earthshot Prize 2023, and fell in love with his voice, and the Hans Zimmer Pompeii. I've been listening to it everyday, and searching their songs/covers. What an absolute pleasure it's been, and to be able to 'feel' the songs rather than be numb 😊
