Sad part is that he was a pretty good wrestler in the territories and from accounts I've heard, a nice guy. He just became a victim of Vince's 'bad gimmick' thing, and his weight got out of control.

IKR!? I had tears of laughter this entire episode at the sheer lunacy of Bastion Booger with his little dance before ass pinning opponents, topped off by the Hawk's ultra-dry sarcasm. There's good wrestling but I have to admit Booger was hilarious at just how disgusting and over-the-top his gimmick was. I miss 80's, early 90's WF.

- Allegedly (this goes for everything in wrestling), Vince wanted him to be in a tag team with Bam Bam but he wanted him to lose some weight. He failed so Vince threatened him with the Bastion Booger gimmick and he accepted. He said he did it for the free food he could suff his face with (wrestlers didn't make a lot of money back then).

according to Jim Cornette thats exactly what happened, apparently initially vince wanted shaw to tag with bam bam but told shaw he'd have to loose some weight otherwise hed stick him with the booger gimmick and shaw just went with it, i live in skandia mi. the town mike shaw was born in and many of his relatives still reside, i think his older brother lives down the rd and after learning of him i'm going to knock on some doors/do a lil research and see what cool stuff i can dig up on this fella, i heard he opened up a "wrestleing school" in or near skandia here so hopefully i can locate that even though its probably been closed by now....

I mean he definitely filled the role of the journeyman jobber that companies like WWF & WCW required in the 1980s & 1990s and did that job well enough, but the man had absolutely *NO* business operating a wrestling school & training future pro wrestlers. I'm sorry, but I've seen his work in The WWF. There's no way he had *ANYTHING* of genuine value to teach others. Best I can see for him is working at someone else's training school HELPING to teach newbies the absolute BARE-BONES BASICS of pro wrestling. Like how to run the ropes and take a proper back-bump MAYBE. Anything more advanced than that, and this dude was NOWHERE NEAR qualified to be teaching lololol!

The character of Bastian Booger is actually very believable ! We all had some people on our high school or college teams like him. On our powerlifting team, we had this guy who didn't wash his lifting uniform for weeks, chomped on dessicated liver tablets, ate lots of food, farted a lot, and wore dirty clothes. We also had a heavyweight who was built like him who went around with his shirt off! And then there was that big Russian Alexeyev with his small singlet. The character of Booger portrays that and more. When I see his matches, I am remember of the good old days! Mike Shaw did a good job as Booger! They should have played a loud fart for his entrance, Yes, those liver tablets made me fart !
