Salute to Brg Devendar Singh who minimised the soldier casualty holding responsibility
@DeepakSharma-sp8cr4 ай бұрын
Brig Devinder Singh led 11 battalions and yet was not considered for promotion to Maj Gen . He should have been Lt. Gen at least. Fine officer who has practical fighting experience and defended well to attack tactically,

Battalik Sector 1. Max pakistani Prisoner of war. 2. Min Indian casualty. 3. Best tactics of attack. 4. Target was not visible to artillery like tiger hill or tololing. 5. But least gallantry awards given. 6. Brigadier reports screwed for corps commanders personal reasons. 7. Least media attention. 8. Worst mountain features in entire kargil war. A total neglect of martyrs of Battalik sector as there is only a war memorial in kargil sector which celebrates. India needs to look back and ask why the hardwork and blood of all these soldiers in Battalik was mismanaged.

Tough assignment. He did as well as one could expect. What a beautiful place. If there was complete Peace what a lovely place for people to visit and enjoy themselves if they were to build nice hotels, hiking paths, etc. India must hold on to every inch of the land.

Salute to him. But his recognition is very minimum and contribution is very high. I do not understand why such people are not promoted to gen ranks.

@Nitin - excellent series bringing war veterans to recount their exploits. Would be good to continue the series by speaking to retired NCOs and frontline soldiers as well. After all they were literally at the pointy end of the spear so to speak. They faced unspeakably harsh conditions and ultimately prevailed…their indomitable courage and sacrifice must be recognized. Finally, were any of the senior officers responsible for intelligence failures and mismanagement during the initial days sanctioned in any way? Brig. Devinder Singh is a worthy hero - glad he leads this series. He too alluded to his Corps. Commander being out of touch with reality! This war was won entirely on the sacrifices of young officers (then) such as Brig. Singh and others, and simple, hardy, village-based frontline troops! Hats off to them and deep gratitude for their sacrifice. 🙏

Kishan pal,budhwar, HM khanna, NC Vij etc.= culprit of 587 brave soldiers of my country…. Brig. Davinder singh = saviour of 10000 soldiers…..he was under immense pressure but he denied to attack on first instance and he was sacked and his promotion delayed or not made….

Thank you very much to all those who were involved in the direct defense of the Nation. Soldiers of course. But also, the politicians and the media. A victory that can make us all proud. Another lesson is not to trust anyone. Verify everything all the time.

Thanks for the maps. They made these events come alive. Maps in the past have been in black and white drawings that have not been as clear for me. Perhaps for the rest of the area that was occupied by the Pakistani Army infiltrators should also be explained just as well.

For all the people reading the comments..... Let me tell you that this brave officer - brigediar devinder singh was chastised by senior genrals, action was taken against him for not fighting and false cases were put on him. He had to fight in courts against the unworthy generals to restore his honor.

Also, for me it is confusing to me. We have a million-man army. Yet one company/division was needed by another and so on. Why was this so? In this million-man army, how big is the tip of the spear that does the actual fighting? Seems it is very small. I think give the threats we need a million-man fighting force that does the actual fighting! And others who support them. Whatever the cost, to bring complete Peace to the region.
@mithunkartha4 ай бұрын
Mn is not the fighting force, there is a substantial support component as well.
@anwarsadat68254 ай бұрын
Hmmm. That is what I want to know. How big is the actual fighting force?

Kargil was a great operation by Pak army however it was not handled well politicly. Let me give you some fact checks about the area in question. 1) we are still sitting at the highest point overlooking Thang and Taksi to the East. 2) Still dominate Bilargu and Tangal heights along glacier 3) Chorbat La heights 4) Silmo heights overlooking Lalung 5) Heights over looking Phuro Dear Sir, all of those and others are well beyong LOC. Please note that we are still occupying those heights since 1999 to date. PAKISTAN ZINDABAD. For a tester, please see my you tube community post.
@UCs8iLZnBS-BnCz3Fi65 ай бұрын
The locations you have listed lie on the Pakistani side of the LoC. Try fooling your fellow Pakistanis with these theories. Chorbat La is no longer in Pakistani control. Use Google Earth, you can see Indian permanent fortification right on top of it. Every peak pakis occupied on our side of the LoC was either vacated or was cleared by us. For more details, you can refer to the books of Pakistani writers who have written extensively on this. 1. Witness to Blunder by Col Ashfaq Hussain 2. 50 days that shook Pakistan by Nasim Zehra 3. Ye khamoshi Kahan Tak by Gen Shahid Aziz. Will help to remove your delusions and bring you back to reality.
