Crystal Myracle they can eat fruit but not a lot as it’s meant to be a treat for them also blueberry is a good fruits but only once a week. Also if you are going to get a Russian tortoise that is the tortoise I have and they love digging so make sure they have lots of hides and quite deep flooring so they can dig your welcome x

Hey Lori! I’m going to get an Apulia western hermanns from garden state tortoise in June or August! I’m so excited and can not wait. In the mean time I’ve been doing a ton of research and was wondering how you maintain humidity and at what percent?

Drew Fisher I keep blues humidity st around 30% bc he’s an adult but babies may need a bit higher to prevent pyramiding. Don’t keep them drenched bc they can get RIs but they do need humid substrate or a nice humid hide and shallow water dish to prevent pyramiding!

My tortise has the same slight pyramiding on his shell. His old owners didn't have a uv light and they had him for a year! He did go outside a few times a week thankfully.

I recently just got a Hermanns tortoise his name is Charlie. He is about 3 years old, he is smaller than Blue, I LOVE HIM SO MUCH. I built him a 2x4 foot tortoise box. It fits him now but when he gets bigger I will build a huge one. Charlie was abandoned at a reptile expo and we happened to be there so I took him in! I can’t seem to find ANY spring mix in the store so we have beef feeding him red tail lettuce and mustard greens. He is starting to get tired of it so we HAVE to find different greens now lol.

Try soaking Blue in a bathtub. Our desert tortoise becomes a submarine and swims underwater. She really enjoys swimming around rather than being stuck in a small bowl.

Hey Lori. How are you and Blue doing with the repti bark? I use toil soil and eco earth just like you used to and completely agree regarding the dust. Wondering if I should switch over to the bark.

I love the repti bark but I am keepit it sprayed once a day bc it still dries a bit, so far I love it and won’t go back to soil/EE. Also he can walk much easier on the bark!

Hello Lori!!😀🖐 I recently did a cage extension for my Syrian hamster Evie and I connected the 2 bins together using pvc pipe and zip ties. My hamster has been chewing the plastic connecting to the pvc pipe non stop... like every single night.... can u please give me some tips on how to stop her from chewing the plastic?? Some hamsters chew plastic sadly! The bins may be a temp solution you may need to upgrade to a glass tank, also I wouldn’t use biting deterrent sprays, I can’t say they are safe for sure. 💗

Heyy My tortoise, which is a horsefield doesnt wake up on his own very often and doesn't open his eyes when he moves around sometimes. He opens them eventually but i'm just a little worried. He is being fed and kept fine is it because its hibernation season?? My tortoise deffo isnt as active as yours and i am not aure if I should be waking him up everyday, he doesnt seem to eat much either.

lilly may tortoises can go into brumation around winter time, if the house is colder than normal and their heat spot isnr warm enough or on enough. It isn’t a bad thing, if the enclosure is set up perfectly then he should come out of it in a month or so. But make sure to keep him hydrated and fed when he’s awake & make sure he’s actually brumating and not sick :)

Sorry this isn’t about reptiles, but what happens if a hamster gets into mud and can’t sand bathe itself, I have to wash him with water but there’s no tips online of how to bathe a hamster if it really needs one, any advice? Also he’s not my hamster I found him outside, I think he was a let becaus I’m pretty sure there’s no wild hamsters in Missouri

Omg that’s crazy! I would gently wash him with a warm wet cloth the best you can, let him walk in it too. Keep his ears and face as dry as you can and make sure to gently dry him and keep him warm.

Great video he is so cute! i just wanted to let you know that cabbage is not very good for tortoises and i would recommend not feeding it, if it comes in the spring mix i would just take it out. Cabbage contains goitrogens that interfere with thyroid activity and could damage the liver and kidneys. Therefore i do not advise feeding Cabbage to your tortoise. TheTortoiseTable.org is a really great place that i find information about food like what to feed and what not to feed i would highly recommend using that if you our ever un sure. But if Cabbage is the only thing you can get your hands on during the winter just be very carefull! good luck with Blue he looks so happy!

EE's AnimalHut he doesn’t get it often! There’s maybe 3 pcs per box of spring mix and I don’t buy cabbage in general at all. I know they shouldn’t eat it regularly but it’s ok in small moderation as part of a varied diet. :)
