I still read Batman Adventures Vol 2 till this day. I was bumbed when it got canceled bc of the infamous "Bat-Embargo" that was put in place to prevent "brand confusion" I was a different person back then (More like a naive child) and got angry that The Batman took Batman Adventures Vol 2 away. That is until I watch the show. It was actually pretty decent. Then I did research and found the term "Bat-Embargo". I learned a lot that year. I shouldn't hate on a show blindly because it gets a show or comic canceled and to watch it first then make your own conclusion after.

Excited for the future Will It Canon's you teased at the end. Teen Titans is one I feel a lot of people have been confused about since there was some DVD Extra that said it was a part of DCAU. I even remember when I was young, I saw Batman Beyond Return of the Joker, and assumed it was the same Robin due to my dumb child brain thinking the models were the same. I now know that's definitely not the case, and while I enjoy Teen Titans as a show, it just doesn't fit to my knowledge. Interested to see the process of elimination!

Small timeline inconsistencies do not break canon. It just means that those details aren't entirely true. This literally happens all the time in various media. You just have to deal with it. The entire comic can be canon as intended, and those small details can be ignored.

I'm so upset batman adventures vol 2 got cancelled after only 17 issues but Gotham adventures got SIXTY years prior despite being worse. They clearly had a vision and great stories to tell. The Riddler plot(i love retired-from-crime-buzzcut-having riddler), The great character interactions and characterization, Eel O'brian appearance and possible explanations for stuff we never got to see in TNBA like Scarecrow's design and character change etc... It was all so interesting yet it got cancelled for no reason and now we'll never get it. After 14 years they came back with The Adventures Continue which in my opinion just... isn't good. Full of retcons and lacking what made the comics and shows good imo

A new Batman the Animated Series but every season is an adaptation of the "New Earth" comics. So Batman Year One, The Man Who Laughs, The Long Halloween, and Dark Victory is season one. Season two is Robin Year One, various Batman and Robin adventures, Daughter of the Demon, and Batgirl Year One. Season three is Nightwing Year One, the intro to Jason Todd, and then a Death in the Family. Season four is A Lonely Place of Dying, Knightfall, and Contagion. Season five is Cataclysm, No Man's Land, Batman/Superman Public Enemies. Six is Batman/Superman Apocalypse, Batman Hush, and War Games. And this goes on up until Flashpoint in which that animated movie kicks off the DCAMU that we have currently.

It must be quite a task to go through all of these comic book tie-ins and figuring out which ones can work, if there are any errors that can be reconciled, and to figure out when which issues take place. By the way, I have another idea for you to examine that you could stretch across multiple videos. That idea would be examining all the vehicles or transportation methods Batman has used. If I'm right, then the vehicles he has used would be the following: Batmobile Bat cycle Batwing Bat Boat Bat-glider Jet-wing (this is the flight pack that he uses when the art style was changed in the DCAU) Beyond era Batmobile Batsub (Terry McGinnis uses this in the episode Earth Mover)

Yep, am gonna try treating Issues 7-8 as fanon discontinuity so to keep myself sane. With that, the comic sure ends well as a 15-issue run with little or no painful loose ends to make you feel disappointed by it. By the way, BB should stay part of the prime canon. Once again, great timeline video! What timeline video are you going to do next? Batman and Mr. Freeze Sub Zero, Superman: The Animated Series or something else? I am curious because you remember when I commented my own timeline of Batman: The Animated Series, Superman: The Animated Series and Static Shock based on your timeline? Well, I knew I was forgetting some things, so I was watching (actually fast fowarding) the DCAU episodes again, just to hear how each episode sounds like on a big stereo with speakers, and I found some more stuff that might go right into your timeline. Since we know that the end B:TAS takes place in 1997 and Dick Grayson graduates from college in January of that year, then Batman and Mr. Freeze: Sub Zero has to take play in early January 1997, before Dick Grayson graduates. We also know that the episode "Unity," of S:TAS takes place in Spring Break of 2000, which spring break happens usually in March or April. I don't remember any mention of time passing in "The Demon Reborn," but in the beginning of "Legacy Part 1," Supergirl says that it has been a month since Superman disappeared, (getting brainwashed by Darkseid). With that I think the episode takes place in May of 2000. I know the end of S:TAS takes place somewhere in 2000 because of "Unity," taking place in Spring Break of that year and the beginning of Justice League taking place in October to December 2000. I hope I was some help. I am a fan of your timeline videos. I haven't finished fast fowarding through the DCAU episodes but if I find more mention of time passing by that we didn't mention yet, I will let you know.

I can't agree with the last issue being non-canon. We have plenty episodes of the show that are wonky with dates, and I also think we need to look at creator intentions here. Also, some inconsistencies have more potency than others. This is a very low potency inconsistency. Add in the fact that your guys' timeline stuff is often very fun, but unofficial, and I don't believe that is enough to disqualify issue 17. I know you guys have a rule where the episodes always trump the comics continuity-wise, but I think this needs to depend on the comic. Batman Adventures Vol 1, for example, should get lower tier placement than Vol 2 because of the nature of both these series. While general rules are fine, I think we need to use a certain degree of logic and judge some of them on a case-by-case basis. We cannot out-rule one issue of a series just based on timeline math that often doesn't add up anyway unless we really finagle things into place. Like I said, the timeline stuff is really fun, and great head-canon. And it works out more times than I ever would have thought possible. But with some things, we need to give a pass, I feel.

And I'll try to explain my point better (forgive me as I attempt to articulate this). I think that it's evident that Batman Adventures Vol 1 didn't try as hard to be canon with the show as Vol 2 did because the writers' ideas (and the DCAU itself) were not as established as they eventually would be in 2003. So while yes, plot-points were picked up by the different comic runs, I think that the series developed as they went on. I think while the Batman Adventures comic was originally meant to _enhance_ Batman TAS, by the time they got to Vol 2, it was meant to specifically flesh out/fill in the gaps of the DCAU. They went from using the show's assets for additional stories to deliberately and calculatingly contributing to the larger canon. There _is_ a fundamental difference there. That is why I think that Vol 2 has more continuity merit than Vol 1, even though when Vol 1 works, it still works. I'm not suggesting we throw it out of continuity. But Vol 2 had the advantage of working with an established universe. Vol 1 was working with a single show that was still in its infancy. Hell, the team behind it weren't even 100% sure of how they wanted to handle the comic at first. Additionally, I think that the awareness that these are ultimately fictional stories make it easy for me to ignore these pretty inconsequential date-errors (without needing to deal with the "something almost exactly like the events of that issue very likely occurred" aspect), knowing that the writers intended for everything to add up (even if it didn't). But I'm also aware that not everyone thinks about it that way. But I suppose whatever works, and if you guys think about it in that way to justify this story (or one almost just like it) happening in the DCAU, then I can respect that.
