Well at the time it was a rather new thing for them: coming to terms with the possibility of becoming villains. The late 80s and 90s brought a lot of hard moral questions and realities to comics and it grew popular with audiences who had these thoughts for *years.* Sure they had "evil" counterparts and alternates before, but no one ever addressed the realities of how possible it is for them to become them: no mind-control or anything. Batman brought all this to the forefront since no one was willing to even discuss it. Only Plastic Man, who was in the original comic (the movie is following the DC Animated run since it was more widely known and seen by younger audiences) took Batman's worries seriously *because* he was the only Justice League member who crook before he became a hero. Plastic Man's experience was the reason he was able to convince the League to bring Batman back in and take his worries seriously, although as it turns out Superman *was* taking him seriously since he had so much experience with "Feeling the call of darkness." But since Plastic Man's not here in the movie, it's just showing Superman.

He should have brought the team in to plan contingencies but exclude the relevant person obviously (i.e. keep Superman out of the plan to take down Superman). No one knows about them to retrieve them.

I wouldn't agree with telling them because no doubt SOME of them would gossip to each other in their off time and the info may get into the wrong hands unintentionally as a result. But definitely some sort of clue by batman where the plans are stored should they need it. But let's face it. The justice league weren't focused on the specifics they were more upset about being told that there needed to be back up plans on all of them. That they were so self-centred and overconfident to think 'I will never go over to the dark side. So this guy is betraying me by doing this.' But they're not thinking about the bigger picture as a result. It actually makes me upset. Because as abrasive and rude Batman is, he still has a very valid point that they're ignoring.

The only reaction that made sense to me about the JL learning that the plans were Batman's was Green Lantern. He seemed more concerned about Batman's security around the plans being broken than the plans themselves. Which makes sense in Canon as the first betrayal Hal ever suffered was his mentor in the GL Corp - Sinestro.

The entire movie is pretty much a defense of Batman's plan. Through his plans being compromised and stolen, Wonder Woman beating the crap out of people after being drugged, Hal succumbing to fear toxin through illusions and manipulation, Flash's altruism leading to a bomb being strapped to his wrist, basically everything Batman assumed was proven corrupt. Forget the alternate universes and evil Justice League, the movie ITSELF wholly vindicates Batman's position. That's why when Wonder Woman tells him they'd never do something like that to him, his immediate response is, "Then you're damn fools". Batman had literally proven first hand that it was an entirely possible scenario for each of them yet they were still sitting there acting like he was crazy, Wonder Woman especially having no grounds to lay into him considering you had just finished beating up dozens of civilians and ripping Cyborg's arm off all because she thought everyone was Cheetah. The insinuation that his fears were unfounded is, frankly, idiotic.

Something I’ve never seen anyone bring up about this movie is that Batman mentions his plans are in case the League turns evil or gets brainwashed, but most of his plans rely on the members’ morals. All he needs to do is discuss with the League why he needs to make plans and I'm sure most of them would agree it would be necessary. Would Batman still make the plans if they said no? Ngl after watching this, I feel like GL was the only one who’s the next smartest person in the room at the moment. He said he didn’t have a problem with the contingency plans, just that Batman didn’t have them secure enough. Which is the problem here, not that Batman had contingencies, he just wasn’t able to prevent this from happening.

But all contingencies Batman was to neutralize not kill. Batman maybe held responsible for creating the plans but for executing it it was savage. But think of batman's plan as alternative or just in case emergency (like in comics the injustice or joker gassed the entire league except Batman) its not the type of villain only its the threat to. If one leaguer succumbs to Darkseid (like supergirl) or starro or Maxwell lord (controlled Wonder woman) how will you add stop them?

I agree with Batman and everything, but I do think the league has a right to be pissed at him because they all almost died earlier that night because of Bruce. Yes, originally his plans weren't lethal, but they still almost helped the villains take out the league, and learning that your friend secretly went behind your back and made a super complicated plan to take you down if you ever went bad and studying your weaknesses would violate your trust in him regardless of circumstances, even if he's right or not. I like that Green Lantern and Superman don't really have a problem with the plans, but only that Batman was careless enough to let them get stolen, and Clark even challenges Bruce to see if he made a plan to stop himself to which he did, and it shows that Batman actually does trust the league enough to be able to stop him if he, himself ever went rogue.

As much as I love this story for giving a genuine good reason why Batman is on the same level as the rest of the JL, it is funny how the villains needed his information to come up with diabolical plans as "use a kryptonite bullet on Superman"'

Yeah... 😏 Thinking about the variables, it's funny when considering all the variables in play; It's about getting close enough to use it because he is hypersensitive to even a small sliver of the Kryptonite radiation from a few feet away. And don't forget he's faster than a speeding bullet which would make odds of hitting him from a distance nigh impossible. Plus Kryptonite is not a common resource to be mass produced for ammunition purposes. The Kill Shot needed to be at point blank range before he could react to the threat, that's why Metallo disguised himself as a Jumper to appear unassuming and lure in "Mr. Goody Two shoes" while using his cybernetic arm most likely modified with a lead shielding to hide the gun. Simple, yet complicated and highly effective.. 😅

The Villains went through all the trouble of stealing Batman’s plans. Alerting them, then using them. Yet all of Hero’s were left alone to be cured or saved. Not to mention the villains explaining everything the hero’s needed to hear 😅

As if that wasn't bad enough, don't forget that Flash can simply go back in time and say, "nope, you didn't steal the plans" and then there is no problem. Seriously, the Flash's mere existence in DC is basically like writing a comic where God himself is the hero and we're somehow supposed to feel tension and drama.

The way I see it, there were two huge flaws in the plan: 1) the way Batman was taken out gave him too much of a chance to escape, because this was not one of his own contingency plans, but one Vandal Savage thought of himself. Batman's plans > Savage's plans. 2) Savage didn't account for outside help. Without Cyborg the League would've been screwed even with Batman escaping his shallow grave. Cyborg saved Diana, who in turn saved the Martian Manhunter, who in turn saved Superman, again with Cyborg's help. Also Cyborg was essential to save the day from the solar flare.

I love how almost all of the plans aren't even special enough to put the blame of Batman for creating. Like wow guys, the bad guys figured out Martin Manhunter is hurt by fire and Superman is hurt by Kyrptonite, but only Batman could give them the plans necessary to...alter his plans to make the attacks fail to be fatal to any of them. Truly this raises a complex moral question for any 12 year old upset that Batman thought his friends could be mind controlled like they've all been in every run of the Justice League.

You have to get the Blue Ray copy of this film. In the extra, Batman explain his plans to stop each member of the JLA including himself. As for the plans you stated they were change by the Legion of Doom to kill the JLA. A bullet for Superman. Bury a live for Batman, ect.

@@maybetoby For example, in Superman’s case he wouldn’t give a lethal wound with Kryptonite and would just use it to subdue and imprison him. He’d probably switch over to red sun radiation once Superman is rendered unconscious or not a threat so he wouldn’t be in constant pain. He’d just exploit their weaknesses to imprison them or render them powerless.

Apparently Flash can move fast but that doesn’t mean his consciousness is always fast alongside the actions, because they way he got stabbed by that piercing bomb was literally just reacting as slow as a human. Even if the robot moved a million times faster, would that have been something he couldn’t have seen coming? If he couldn’t “see it” from the angle, couldn’t he have stopped as he felt the pain of it entering his arm and breaking his skin?

keep in mind he has to "turn on" his power. He has to actively use the force to be able to use that level of ability, at least usually. It's not always depicted as things like spider-sense. A thing that "just happens". Usually when his powers are in effect, there's lightning.

It’s honestly wierd that none of the other justice leaguers considered the possibility of any turns when their regular villains include clones, doppelgängers, mind controllers, evil relatives (or just anyone with the same power set), and people fighting under duress or hallucinations. The whole ‘we would never betray the team’ is actually a less likely one of several options, all of which demand the need for contingencies.
