Yeah. That’s what about he is supposed to be about. A smart guy with ninja training and gadgets who fights the mob and street crime to clean up his city. Nothing more. bm ww I completely agree with your statement. We prefer Batman as a detective who specializes not only in physical combat, but also in mental challenges to solve high-level puzzles & cases and demonstrates leadership skills, which shows that he’s above “street-level.” We also like that he is a badged protector of the city, instead of being viewed as a mere vigilante(one whose sole objective is personal gratification). Kevin Conroy’s versions of Batman are the ideal ones, and they closely resemble Michael Keaton’s. I agree with you on that.
@joshuagavile47754 жыл бұрын
billyboyjennings I wholeheartedly agree with you. We’re not opposed to the general concept of Batman being in conflict or association with heroes that possess special powers. The issue we have with those stories is the execution. The reason we don’t like some storylines in which Batman is capable of overcoming powered adversaries is because they are poorly executed by the creators. The only crossover stories involving Batman we accept are those where Kevin Conroy voices the character because his Batman is typically well-written. I agree with you on that.

Man how can you not absolutely love this classic old-school fight scene, not to mention good cinematography from Burton who wasn't exactly known for filming fight choreo. The shot zoom-in on Batman's fists when he goes en garde is quick and sets the mood perfectly, showing that the threat is stepped up, only for him to show nothing when the swordsman comes at him again since now Batman has his weakness calculated. Later Batman portrayals have made him intimidating by amping up his brutality, but the theatric calm and brooding demeanour of Keaton's Batman does it better IMO, you don't know what he'll do or what he's capable of.

I was like, really? He is playing the caped crusader? But now, 30 plus years later, after looking back at all the actors that played Bruce Wayne/Batman after him, I'd have to say he was the best. What many thought would be a disastrous miscast turned out to be one of the best casting decisions in movie making history.

Batman is kind of a masked , costumed , superheroed , gadgeted , martial artistic and gunless version of a wild West story , in which the rich kid orphaned by the bandits grows up to be a top notch cowboy who takes on the goons all by himself. Only in Batman's case , he has no guns but gadgets and guts. I recall Zorro too was an inspiration for Batman. And the most amazing fact is that Batman was first inspired by a movie in which the villain was dressed as a Bat. Talk about a dark origin. Who knew what Bob Kane was creating. Looking now , quite surely a masterpiece. Batman forever.

The choreography in that scene is abysmal. So many cuts and camera shaking that you can't even see what's going on. When you compare it to fight scenes in other movies in that time such as Revenge of The Sith, Batman Begins was mediocre in that aspect.

At the time of Nolan trilogy, everyone felt like the '89 Batman was more silly and cartoony than they remembered. Especially this fight scene in particular felt outdated and awkward to me at the time. But now in the age of highly choreographed, over the top action scenes, it feels more satisfying and real than ever. I mean, I can see this fight happening in real life. If Elon Musk decide to dress like a bat and start beating people up in an alley, it would look exactly like this! It's crazy how Batman '89 went from a live action cartoon to something that almost feels like a realistic take on Batman within the last 5 years.

Not sure who felt the 1989 Batman was silly. The 1960's Batman TV show was definitely silly with the "Pow!" & "Zapp!" captions along with Joel Schumacher's abominations that were Batman Forever (1995) and Batman & Robin (1997). This 1989 Batman and its 1992 sequel was directed by Tim Burton who has a very dark vision as a director (which is consistent with the original tone of the 1939 Batman comics) and it definitely modernized how we see Batman today.

Most of the Nolan films came out in the 2000's era when nihilism and edginess was cool especially among the younger crowd. The Nolan films represented the grittiness and realism of that era. I can see why a lot of teens and young adults thought the 1989 Batman film was too "campy" and "optimistic" for their taste in the 00's.

Yes most spider man villains are lame in terms of their powers. Vulture being a prime example. He can fly. That’s it. Spider man has heightened senses, super strength, can withstand pain more than average, webs that he made & can stick to all surfaces. All of that versus a dude that can fly. I thought Keaton was all wrong. Turns out I was wrong. The whole movie I though Vulture was a legit threat.

Back when Batman fought like a natural badass in his movies. Both Bale and Pattinson couldn't last long without struggling and constantly taking a beating. Keaton's Batman however was almost untouchable. Was able to hit bad guys or dodge/counter their attacks without even having to look at them. Definitely made his fighting style cooler. And keep in mind that he also wore the heaviest and most restricted Batman suit to limit his movements. He couldn't even turn his head and yet he was still able to fight entire gangs naturally which is pretty impressive. I also like how could knock them out with just one hit like it was nothing, something you that barely see since the Bale films.

When I watch Michael Keaton’s Batman I see mystery, darkness, sadness, fear and a little insanity. None of the other actors who played Batman was able to do ALL that. Val K. was like a model version of Bruce, couldn’t really see Batman in him. But he was a cool Bruce. Now, George C. was a disaster, made Batman and Bruce ridiculous. Christian B. was a cool Bruce but his Batman was too damn normal and don’t get me started on his deep voice 🤦🏻♀️ Anyways, Ben A. played a tough/scary Batman for sure, and he was a cool Bruce but he was missing that craziness that Michael K. had. So My all time fave is Keaton for sure. Yes he didn’t have Ben’s muscles but he was a little loony and that’s what I loved about him. I don’t know how Rob P. is gonna do as Bruce or Batman, he won’t be intimidating but I think he will bring sadness, darkness and a little crazy into the character just because he has that look, it’s like natural for him 😂
