I love how "mythical" Batman feels in this movie. Clearly there's nothing supernatural about him, but how he really puts the fear of Batman in people really makes him feel like some kind of living legend. He blends in with the shadows, he can shrug off gunshots, he makes people afraid of the dark because they think he might be there watching them. None of the other Batman movies make me feel like he's a monster, but this movie, oh does he actually make me afraid.

Respectfully did we watch the same film? Batman would disappear and appear like a ghost in the Dark Knight Trilogy. Remember Ra's al Ghul telling him he had to become an idea like a wraith. In those films, dudes got dragged off into the shadows screaming as they couldn't see what was taking them out. Batman in those films felt like the xenomorph from the Alien franchise. That scene at the docks does more to portray Batman as a scary creature more than anything from this film.

@@FriendlyBatDoom it's the small things that ruined the nolan trilogy for me. dude can't direct action. there isn't a single scene in all 3 films with a single piece of choreography in combat as good as Batman's opening volley in this movie. And on top of that even some of his camera shots are hokey looking. At the docks when batman yanks the guy into the sky, he kinda campily drapes his cape around him then in the next shot goes into the air with him...I dunno something didn't look right about it lol. I know I'm in the minority here but I found the nolan movies boring (aside from Heath Ledger's joker). Superhero movies need to bring their action choreography into the 21st century. Blade from 20 years ago had better action than the entire Marvel franchise and Dark Knight Trilogy. Action movies should always try to lead the way with innovative and well thought out action. Not a bunch of quick cut close up shots that just look confusing. When Blade dropped, it was competing with the Matrix action scene for action scene, both doing their best with their budgets to make it as dope as possible. Now it's just a bunch of CGI special powers in Marvel, and Nolan was doing the "Bourne" style of quick cut shaky cam action badly. How are John Wick and The Raid the best examples of action? Shouldn't their choreographers be the guys the big studios hire for these big superhero projects? TLDR: The Batman did both detective stuff and action better than Nolan's movies.

The action scenes were either quick cuts to hide the stuntman making Batman seem faster or stuntmen standing around waiting to get hit Ala The Dark Knight Rises. Respectfully with all that being said it did some things very well and that was the stealth, Alfred, Gordon, and the majority of the villains. Learning from Ra's Al Ghul was a perfect way for Batman to start his journey as it ties them together more in a way at that time they weren't at that time. 2005 to 2006 when Damian Wayne was created. Scarecrow was also well done in BB 2005. We all know about The Dark Knight so I will just leave that alone because it's simply one of the greatest films of all time. The Dark Knight Rises did some things well and that was everything with Alfred as Michael Caine is just spectacular. The other was redeeming Bane from Batman & Robin 1997 making him a truly fearsome warrior and an excellent quote machine. 🤣I'm sorry I had to add that last one with the quotes in. The Trilogy had its flaws like everything to do with Rachel Dawes, Batman killing Dent, and the Miranda Tate/Talia Al Ghul twist on top of what I mentioned earlier. With all that being said The Batman 2022 didn't do anything good in my opinion outside of the cinematography, Gotham looking dreary, and everything to do with Penguin. I don't care what anyone says Batman shouldn't EVER and I mean EVER get tagged by thugs with crowbars, knives, and baseball bats as he's a one-in-a-billion-level warrior. Day one or year twenty it doesn't matter. His getting hit by Penguin's thugs didn't help things either. If that was SOF operator mercenaries and legendary assassins it would make sense then. The fight scenes with Pattinson weren't good either. If he couldn't give me Daredevil Netflix fight scenes then give me live-action Himura Kenshin, Blade 1998-2004, and Jet Li Black Mask 1996 fight scenes but no we got a heavily armored MMA brawler instead of a quick and nimble nonlethal assassin. When he first confronted Penguin he should've been so stealthy that Penguin turned around just to be scared by Batman standing in front of him. This results in a scared Penguin calling in his goons just for Batman to absolutely clown them and then Penguin realizing he's lost cooperates with Batman. This plays into him coming across as a supernatural wraith who comes to punish evildoers. What we got instead is an idiot who knocked on the front door allowing everyone to see he’s just a man dressed up in a military tac suit with ears. The train gang should have been watching as their homeboys were getting snatched off into the darkness screaming causing the ones with guns to aimlessly start shooting into the darkness and for the others to run. Batman should come across like the Blair Witch to the teenagers in that found footage film. Notice how we never see the witch but here are people screaming? That's what Batman should be doing from DAY ONE. Another example is the the Yakuza clips on Ninja Assassin 2009 watch how the old man talks about the shinobi assassin before and after the shinobi kills all of the Yakuza Boss men. Look how he takes them out from the shadows and then aimlessly shoots into the shadows with the whooshing noises. This is how Batman should be without killing of course. Lastly, I was on the theater opening day watching him miss easy clues. Batman, there's an apartment complex across the street from the Iceberg Lounge where the various pictures of corrupt officials at high angles were taken. Batman, maybe you should investigate the UNIQUE MURDER WEAPON IN THE CARPET TUCKER. Batman knew that Falcone was virtually untouchable why didn't he look into this let me guess he was too angry and looking to beat people up. I shouldn't be ahead of Batman the super genius polymath scientist and detective. This isn't Batman, Arkham Origins is the best portrayal of a year two Batman with lessons to learn. I left the theater thinking there's a lot I didn't like about this film and then a year later after the film was released LUMOSHROOM here on KZbin released his review and I saw so much more problems with it. This also really bothered me if you aren't going to be bulky like Affleck's Batman then can he at least be has shredded like Bruce Lee? You are portraying the epitome of human potential the Paragon of Vigilantes in Batman himself shows us. The Batman 2022 not only bored me but greatly disappointed me it's a 4/10 film at best for me. Now I'm hoping for Gunn's DCU FANTASTICAL Batman to fix things because that's another problem with this film The grounded-in reality takes have now stagnated Batman as a character. It's because we have to watered-down his legendary intellectual and combative prowess for mob type and serial killer villains. Sorry for the rant but no live-action Batman film has ever been truly faithful to the character. Batman’s films truly suffer from the fact that they are piloted by people who aren't fans and by people too afraid of taking a genuine risk while staying faithful. They need to take more influences from Eastern Asian filmmakers with Batman because the Western style is stagnating him.

@@FriendlyBatDoom I can see your argument, but assuming The Batman hasn't joined the league of shadows or anything like that, there would be no explanation for him not to be learning from his mistakes in fights. It also heightens drama to make someone not invincible. If all Batman ever did was wipe the floor with everyone, there would be no tension in the outcome. Especially year one Batman. I get it's cool to see a super trained guy wipe out a room of people, but for me any good fight scene has back and fourth action. Again the Raid and John Wick are good examples. They're still one in a million fighters but get hit in every fight. I agree the fights in the Batman were nowhere near the Raid or John Wick, but I do think they were definitely superior to the Nolan ones. Just my taste, and like I said I already know I'm in the minority with preferring this movie to the Nolan ones.
