I owe so much to this event. I met Scott Snyder at the midnight launch for METAL #6. There, I asked Snyder how to break into the industry and write compelling stories. He told me to write stories that I want to tell. I will never forget that advice. It now applies to everything I do. PS: Scott came to Fourth World Comics with a cake with the cover of Metal #6 (the one with the Joker dragon) on it in excruciating detail. We each got a slice.

Batfreeze I’ve met Scott and Greg twice. Literally the nicest and most humble creative duo in comics today. And both are always excited to be working in the Industry and so excited to meet fans. My brother, an artist, once asked Greg that same question and Greg encouraged him to look into a career as a “commercial artist” instead of focusing strictly on comics because it will allow him to hone his craft while also making an income while simultaneously making efforts to land a gig in comics. My brother was so inspired by the advice.

Batman is a black lantern and Supe's is more 90s than he was in the actual 90s. It's glorious and incredibly stupid in the best way. Freaking Doctor Manhattan is somehow dragged into this tomfoolery. If I'm remembering correct WW become a golden kaiju goddess and has a cosmic scale fight with The Dr. Bathatten who laughs. It's a trip.

Like, the absolute state of comic-writing is most most the time underwhelming/some groundwork but no payoff, but if there is, it's only followed in X years in a mini-series or it just complicates things even more with other established events...

I like the Batman, Joker vs BWL fight because to me anyway it’s to show that BWL isn’t a fusion of Batman and joker but is just a crazy Bruce Wayne, and even as a crazy Bruce Wayne he can’t copy the Joker. Like Joker cuts the dude’s fingers off and BWL freaks out about it, but then the whole thing was ruined because he has been shoved into every story since where he not only somehow has hands but is also the Ultra plot armor cliche “because I’m Batman” Batman except evil and cosmic and I hate it.

I read this book all together as a trade when that came out, and Sal's right, while you're reading the story it's actually really entertaining but man, do I wish they'd delved into the Dark Multiverse stuff more. I like the idea of a "story garbage pile" where all of the extreme timelines of the multiverse end up to be destroyed, and to a lesser extent the Batmen tie-ins (where they give the origin stories of the evil Batmen) kinda gave a window into that but also don't do much more with it

I think of the World Forger more like a glassblower. When he makes a world it's fragile and made of glass, but if it is flawed (like a bubble in the glass) it's thrown to Barbatos to destroy and melt back down. If it is good enough, stable enough, it gets hung up onto his wall of Universes.

Just a small note about the note at the end when you discuss the proper phrase "eat your cake and have it to", I recently finished up Manhunt: The Unabomber where that particular phrase was the lynchpin to arresting the Unabomber, because he's like a perfectionist who would make the effort to say it the "right" way, instead of how language and that particular phrase has evolved
