This is a Bat book that sticks out in a market saturated by Batman. I'm a huge Batman fan who has been feeling Bat fatigue, and this felt fresh. Also excited to see a similar tone in the upcoming movie. Highly recommend people pick up the hardcover this week!

It’s actually phenomenal, it reminds me of the heartbreak and tragedy of Mask Of The Phantasm, the grounded, truthful, realistic and gritty themes of The Batman Matt Reeves movie, the absolute action of what seems like a choreographed ballad of contrasting emotions battling for power. The way the art exemplifies the struggles and opposing philosophy through pallets with the use of comparative and parallel artwork just creates such a perfect atmosphere but in such an unbalanced the way, the way it should be. This story really ripped Batman’s armour away and killed him leaving a weak Bruce Wayne with a vulnerable persona, forcing him to make choices only devised through a vow he made mentality, to be a hero. It shows how circumstance, condition and experience not only shapes who you are, but how you react and how your relationships with others are also impacted. A true batman story, a true Bruce Wayne story, A true Gotham story. Don’t let this pass, it’s seriously good.
