I know the other Clayfaces are iconic for being full on clay people, but I feel that the Preston Payne Clayface is underrated. He's just so 'weird', but in a way that would make for a great horror comic. Also, RIP Alan Grant. We lost another giant.

One of my favourite versions of Clayface is from The Batman 2004 series whose name is Ethan Bennett and is an old friend of Bruce Wayne's and is an entirely original character for the show. Are you guys familiar with it? While not as good as the Animated Series, some characters like Catwoman, Hugo Strange, Batgirl and surprisingly Firefly are actually much better handled than in the animated series.

Thank you, I also thought the animated series never really got the best handle on Catwoman. The “ Batman for the animals“ was always a weird concept, and by the time they got around to telling better Catwoman stories, it was around the fourth season with that weird redesigned… The Batman cartoon had a pretty cool Catwoman

Alan Grant (R.I.P.) and Norm Breyfogle are definitely one of my favorite duos to work on Batman, with this definitely being a highlight of their tenure on the character. However, my favorite Batman story of theirs is probably the first appearance of the Ratcatcher. That is one seriously underrated tale and character.

Okay Sal, I completely love your best way to get into comics tangents. That is exactly how I got into comics. This is the second time you brought it up recently. I think we need a full comic pop returns video or CBR article devoted to this topic. I actually sent the last one to my mom who taught for 20 years, has become a private tutor, and teaches English and writing. One of her elementary students loves graphic novels. So I made a clip of you talking about single issues sparking the imagination and sent it to her because it sounds like a great learning and writing activity for her student.

The Mud Pack all share a collective brain cell, and that brain cell's coming from Matt Hagen. I only know of them because they were mentioned in my "Batman: The Ultimate Guide to the DC Comics Superhero" and Batman: Arkham Asylum. Even then, DC were so proud of the idea.

Nice to see some love for the other Clayfaces. I keep forgetting there's been so many of them, since Basil's probably the most well-known of the bunch. I did enjoy Basil's semi-redemption arc in the pages of Tynion's Tec run and Ram V's Catwoman run, but I do wish Matt Hagen, Lady Clayface, or even Preston Payne could share the spotlight every once in a while.
