Lets test out the power snow shovel and the snow blower from Greenworks with 40v GMax batteries. I get a wet 3in snow to clear and put these two tools to the test to see which one I like the most and can they replace my big gasoline snow blower and hand shovel? These have virtually no maintenance; no oil, no gas, no spark plugs or carbs to clog up.

If Ego made a snow shovel, I would certainly have one. This is the first time I’ve thought I should have gone with Greenworks. That thing looks perfect for my driveway and sidewalk.

I just grabbed one up here in Canada and it has a ton of power. I fractured my shoulder and ankle snowboarding so the Greenworks shovel has been a great tool.

I am a BIG fan of Greenworks products! I have a leaf blower from them that rocks and allowed me to get rid of my under-powered extension cord model (ugh) and not have to up upgrade to a noisy gas model. Their batteries charge fast, have good duration under load and as you note, are inter-changeable. Looking at their drills, now. Thanks for the video; I live in Texas, now, but old-Midwesterner wondered how their blowers performed.

Yeah I've had mine for years, batteries still hold a good charge and the tools "start" at the first press of a button everytime (unlike my gas tools).

Great video. I just bought the 16" snowblower version for a corner lot in the burb in Illinois. We did all last year's snow by shovel so this will be a nice upgrade since my Toro Gas snowblower only likes to run in the summertime. :)

@@jonnyunited 😆 thats why I ended up getting both. I bought tool only and "open box" on amazon so was reasonable price. Both together were half what I got for my now sold gas snowblower!

So the shovel you cannot guide where the snow goes, which could cause problems if you're blowing sidewalk snow onto your neighbors sidewalk instead of onto the lawn. That could be a real pain in the fanny

Just to confirm.... Which versions did you use for both? 40v or 80v? How long does one charge last for both the shovel and plow? Great video. Keep up the good work.
@NaterTater
@NaterTater 2 жыл бұрын
Both of mine featured in this video are the 40v but it looks like they are harder to find in stock and perhaps the 80v lineup is replacing them. In this video I shared a single 4ah battery and it showed 50% charge when done. They say roughly 45min on a charge, seems right.

@@NaterTater Seems like a great run time for that battery. Significant price difference between these and a regular corded electric version. The cordless is tempting, however my property isn't as spread out as yours. Might go for the corded version. Thank you again.

@@flyin18t either way my gas one was $950 new so I can have a fleet of these battery ones for that cost! I agree though if you have easy 110v access its the cheapest way to go.

Nice video my man I have the same type but mines is toro Toro snow shovel Toro Electric snow blower but they're roughly the same I just wish they figured out a way to build an attachment so that we can use the snow shovel where we can direct the Snow either to the left or to the right I have some thoughts in mind of how to build my own

Just got the Greenworks 60 volt shovel, trying to find the sweet spot as the snow launches over a huge snow pile and lands on my neighbour's driveway. Any tips on shovel patterns for medium detached household in a suburban area within the Greater Toronto Area since I can't adjust the height of the snow being thrown? I have two cars parked at the top or the driveway next to each other and no sidewalk. The walkway to my backyard and to the backyard rink works great for the electric shovel because it is a straightaway. Thanks for uploading this video 😁

Interesting problem! You could try something simple like taping a cardboard or plastic sheet on the exit to deflect the snow lower.
@BWT599
@BWT599 2 жыл бұрын
@Nater Tater awesome, I was just thinking of cardboard. The shovel is awesome, especially with packed down snow. Unfortunately I spent more time shoveling my neighbour's driveway covered in snow pellets from the packed snow on my driveway.

I might add that the main reason the horsepower unit came to be is to fairly and honestly convince people still using living horses of the advantaged of fueled engines. So why is this not the case here?
@NaterTater
@NaterTater Жыл бұрын
Maybe because not many people use living horses to do work anymore (in the US)? The more common method to report power in electric tools is kW. 1 HP is about 0.75 kW.
@feegureeetout
@feegureeetout Жыл бұрын
@@NaterTater yep, and .75 hp ain't a lot of hp. It is, however, a fairly huge output for a battery at 40 volts. Usually outside even the amp hour rating. The point of my hp/kwatt comment was about truth in advertising.
@NaterTater
@NaterTater Жыл бұрын
@Thomas Harris I'm not following you. These aren't rated at 0.75kW, that's the unit coversion for 1HP. Also Ah is a measurement capacity, not a power. So Ah is like fuel tank size. I dont see where there is an issue with truth in advertising.
@feegureeetout
@feegureeetout Жыл бұрын
@@NaterTater well i live in north country and most ads imply i should replace my gas unit with these types. My 12.5 hp takes an hour or more to clear my drive. What kwatt hour capacity electric unit would do that? And yes, they do rate electric motors in hp. And anything over 10hp is enormous and runs on three phase, prolly at 30 amps or more, 208 volts at least. Most of these units are still fractional hp rated motors. Did you know they even rate electrical boxes in hp?

I think the Greenworks 40V and 60V are 1000 watts, the 80V 1200 watts. The 40V and 60V can throw up to 20 feet; the 80V up to 25 feet.
