grabitz - solid state battery are a pipe dream. Tesla 2170 Battery packs are the most Advanced Battery technology today, Tesla even offering the battery technology to ICE cars makers, but they turned it down, stupid. Today Tesla EXCEEDS the world wide production of LION battery in just one Gigafactory, and Shanghai coming online in 2 years. And by 2020 we may see another Advanced in Tesla Battery technology for the 2020 Roadster and Semi.

C4V, an American Company recently demonstrated a working Semi Solid State battery that will be in production in Q2 this year from the Imperium 3 Battery Gigafactory being constructed in NY State . First years production of 1 GWh is presold. C4V is a partner along with Magnis Technologies (who have a high quality Graphite mine in Tanzania) in the Imperium 3 Consortium. Energy density is 400W/Kg (a 70% improvement), fast charging, lighter, cheaper, NO Cobalt

Many companies are near market-ready with solid-state Li-on batteries, they're relatively simple to make and deliver exactly what Fisker said here but need extensive testing and manufacturing set up, which is happening now. Say bye bye to oil!

Charge 1 min to get 700 miles ... you will need a charger with a diameter of an extra large pizza to provide enough surface area to drive that much electricity into the super capacitor to hold 100kWh of energy in 1 min. The battery will take a bit of time to charge while the super capacitor holds the electric charge. Just think of super capacitor as RAM and battery as HDD. RAM is 1,000 times faster than HDD but it does not hold memory it system gets rebooted.
