Thanks for keeping these videos available. I have a 2019 Tacoma I've been upfitting for overlanding for the last three years. It feels live I've done a thousand upgrades with lots more still to go. In the last couple of months, I've been working on cleaning the electrical connections under the hood and cab. My next project will be to consolidate 3 bus bars near the battery. Thanks to this video, I'll will upgrade my messy battery terminals at the same time.

So i just received the SDHQ terminals, they are perfect for my beast. Your review was right on point, however, I would add one more comment, YOUR tutorial made this super easy to set up. No instructions provided in the package. Yes, one can figure it out, but a picture is worth a thousand words!

Hey M&M! I just now experienced the rattling of the exhaust pipe on the skid plate on my FJ. So I went back to your old video on this subject. I've got the old RCI skids. After looking at the new transfer case skid you install. I stole the idea. Cut a hole and welded up a drop pocket. Works great. But I didn't think about drilling holes in it for rocks and water to get out. So that helped too. Old videos are great to go back on. Thanks. Problem solved!!!

Perfect idea and very sharp looking. I only wish they made them in tinned copper. Aluminum doesn't conduct as well as copper and tinned copper is more resistant to corrosion and a better conductor especially at higher amperage. I haven't seen a single one in tinned copper so far though so maybe cost is a factor, I really dont know. Also 99% of the ones sold on amazon are Chinese Aluminum and never sold with a cover. Enlarging a battery terminal that big and not providing a cover or even an option to buy one is insane. Really dangerous. I'm glad you guys found a cover. Super smart.
@kencreel56602 жыл бұрын
I had aluminum supplying my rv sub panel - yeah it burned down cause the aluminum expands and contracts so much with temperature changes the connection became loose. Never will I use aluminum again
@extrememiami2 жыл бұрын
@@kencreel5660 oh yes I forgot about that also. Now your added more types of metal also and the odds that you'll be connecting to another aluminum connection are slim to none. Can't believe they only make these in aluminum with no intentions of even offering tin plated copper. Such a waste. I'm returning mine tomorrow I also had an issue that these are cut straight and they go on a flared terminal which loosens with vibration since it's not also flared.

subscribed! i also like the subtle grooves on the inside of the "post clamp" that help in preventing it from wiggling itself free over time. i wonder why they went with aluminum instead of stainless steel. there's probably a reason...... oh well, it still rocks!

I need this because my battery terminals are brutal mess. But wanna hear your long term review first. I’m a little worried about aluminum oxide increases the resistance. I know aluminum terminal/wires have been used in homes, but that’s quite different environment than car’s engine bay.

I have the same concern. Going to spray them with a battery terminal protectant, see how that works.

Unfortunately we don't. If you find a source please let us know. If you're only going to be doing a few large gauge connections these would be much easier, and probably cheaper, then buying a HD crimper.

Safer process, disconnect the negative, do all the work on the positive first, that way if you happen to hit a ground with a wrench you will not spark. then complete all the final work on the negative. I really do like the terminals, I think they are a great optioin.
Exactly what I've been looking for!! Will this work on a 2014 gmc sierra 1500? I only ask because you only mentioned Toyota

Your better off fitting a separate buss bar a few inches from the battery than one of these, ally is not a good material at all for a terminal, it heat stresses, doesn't conduct as well as a brass or tinned copper terminal AND it reacts with copper wire. I'm sorry but that bolt up compression terminal is the worst idea I've ever seen for a heavy load cable! Crimp or solder, you will never achieve a cold weld with that POS of a terminal. Sorry i guess you intend well but I'm afraid you missed the mark on this one, a truly awful piece of kit IMHO
