Is it common to only need to replace the driver side bearing or do you do both sides? If both sides, are there the same size bushing and oil seal? Thank you. Very good video

So I could wire this sucker into my fuse box for my starter, with a killswitch in series along the control wire, yes ?

My original greaseable ball joints lasted about 5 years. I never greased them. Lol. Replaced it last week with newly designed black top ball joints ($140 from Summit), which now require 200 ft lbs torque. Let's see if these new joints are real deal.

We just did the alpine loop (without mineral creek) on a four wheeler this year and on the way hiked up to the top of Uncompahgre peak! The whole area is just spectacular. I will definitely be back for Handies peak, sunshine, Redcloud peak, and many others. The alpine loop area is incredible.

Still the most informative video there is on this. I see your guys rigs driving down I90 on occasion! I was wondering if it’s possible for the red filter used as the breather to allow water inclusion? Possibly during a car wash when water gets blasted from underneath? Not sure if there’s anything from stopping small amounts of water that would happen to get in the engine bay to penetrate through and into the lines. Thanks!
@WanderlostOverland
@WanderlostOverland 7 күн бұрын
The tiny amount of water that may get past the filter element would be insignificant.

This is a great instructional video! I bought all the stuff and starting pulling mine apart. It’s a 2011 4Runner Limited. But when I pulled the CV axle out, there is no needle bearing in the housing. It’s a bushing with a larger OD than the ECGS bushing. I can’t find that part number anywhere! Any ideas?

Been camping out of vehicles since the late mid-1970s, done it ground camping, sleep platform camping, RTT camping and finally in an Alu Cab Canopy Camper. I have done so from the Arctic, down Baja, the Everglades, and pretty much everywhere in between. As for the awning, I have been in howling winds on the shores of Lake Superior in late fall and no issues with my 280 awning, didn't even put down the pole. I have the tie downs, but never used them. As for vehicles, in the past year or so, I am seeing more and more signs on FS roads/trails requiring high clearance and 4 Wheel drive. I am actually seeing people say they are getting cited now by FS Rangers on certain roads, due to having to recover a lot of vehicles lately that were not suitable for the particular trail or FS Road. I am 63 yo now, and like I said I have been doing this since I could drive. I drove from south Georgia to Alaska when I was 18 to camp, fish, prospect, stayed some of the winter and trapped fur living out of my vehicle. To be honest all you need for camping/"overlanding" is a capable vehicle, a sleeping bag and food and drink along with a way to prepare the food if you don't feel like cooking it in a can over an open fire (which I have done that). I would not trade my Alu Cab Canopy Camper on a built up Gladiator Rubicon for any vehicle out there, it is perfect for what I do.

You gotta pee, carry a "pee bottle", just roll over pee, close the top and empty it in the morning. For women, go to any surplus store in a military town and they have devices for women to basically do the same thing. I got a large REI water bottle that is wide mouthed and use it. Got it labelled with a piece of tape saying what it is for so nobody makes a mistake.

A deep cycle marine battery and a suitable charger would work great and would cost a lot less than that power pack thingy you have. An exhaust pipe extension would help you get the muffler away from the aur intake. 👍

Nice video. Just don't compress all those pistons without making sure there isn't too much brake fluid in the reservoir. It could be messy!!!

Why are we pulling the rca cable into the engine compartment? It’s seems that the only thing needed is the back cable extension to the camera. I have the harness plugged up and good yo go. What’s confusing is the rca that is supposed to be the head unit. It’s pretty maddening that we buy a pricy mod that has absolutely no support from the manufacturer.

Y’all did a great job using all the space in the bug! I like the way you put stuff where it makes sense to go, and be accessible when you need it-nothing worse than knowing you have something but can’t find it. Good reminder to keep the tool very low, and in between the wheels.

Great video Sir 👍 I know very little about automotive wiring but I thought I knew enough to extend the ground wire from the relay 6 inches using the same gage wire but after doing this seemingly simple thing the lights don't work yet the red and green lights on the switch work and fuse is still good so I have no clue what happened or how to fix it ?
