your my favorite channel. My mom won't let me get battle boxes or knife mystery boxes. she doesn't think its a good idea because I won't use it even though I collect knives. So I come here and watch your videos and I like how you tell the truth even though its not always pretty. keep up the good work Doc!

Concerning the snake gaiters: I've worn them in Tennessee, Texas, and Arizona. They work as advertised. I've been bitten by copperheads, rattlesnakes, and cottonmouths. The gaiters took all the damage. The kukri: I agree about cold steel. I've had a folding tanto that I abused for 7-8 years before it broke beyond repair. And I've had a clip point that didn't last 6 months.

in my 10 years in the ARMY, I spent more than I wanted to time in jungles and swamps. I was never issued anything like those gators, but I did buy my own, and wear them, both in the service and after I got out. the reason I got my own while I was still in is during swamp phase of a school I went through, I actually was bitten by a cottonmouth. ( lucky for me, it was after the course was completed, so I was not recycled) they are amazing. I did have a snake try and bite my leg after I started wearing them, and they do work. no puncture on that second bite.

Old military stuff is some of the best stuff you can get...I have an old swiss army lamp from 1939 and it still works like a charm and I also got it with a replacement bulb woch can sometimes be rare...Also big plus is that I got it for like 10 swiss franks...Also some of these things, from like the 60s, are still used in the army today...

I wouldn't sharpen the blade tip. This is a demolition tool. The tip is made for piercing through metal not for skinning animals. By making the point of the knife razor sharp you make it prone to chipping when hacking through metal or brick Etc. I have worked in the demolition construction business most of my life and for the same reason we do not use carbide-tipped circular saw blades for demolition because these things will chip. It's the same when I see people buying a fireman's axe on Amazon and they complain that the blade is not Sharp that's because it's made for cutting through things like metal and brick where as a sharp blade would instantly chip and break off. With your knife the serrated part close to the handle is all that is needed for doing all your rope and material cutting and the teeth on the back do the rough work.

Iowan midsummers yield crap tons of mosquitos. I remember I went camping one time and you could see the swarms of mosquitos from quite a distance. Everyone came out of that campsite looking like they had chicken pox. Could definitely use mosquito nets and repellents.

With that "sniper netting", you're right. You can use any kind of flexible netting and just spritz the camo pattern on with spray paint. Some hardware or hunting/fishing supply places you can get netting for 99¢ a yard.

new favorite channel, hahaha. also sucks that people tried to cheat the system for your giveaway. One thing that I like to carry in my first aid kits is actually chamomile and/or mint tea; it's a psychological boost and it helps a lot with indigestion and gas. I suppose you could drench the netting with repellent and use it keep out the horseflies, but then they also gave you a mosquito head net, so that that completely makes the mesh useless other than some kinda cargo mesh/carrying bag. Also, between the cat and your kid, you have the best co-hosts.

Impressive box. BB has always out done themselves each month ( I really liked their water box) in my opinion. I wish I had the money to throw at it each month & maybe one day I will, but for now I do dig it. I think its one of the very few SUB box's that are actually worth the money each month and they actually do put some thought in these and make sure you are getting great items for a better deal than you usually would by yourself.
@DocP91B6 жыл бұрын
+Survival of the Fittest Battlbox is still, and has always been my favorite one of the bunch. There are some months that just don't pack the wow factor for me, but I think you have accaept and expect that with any monthly subscription. No one is going to love every theme, or every item in every box. But I really feel like the quality of the items that come in BB is better than most other boxes out there.

With that rubberized handle on the Ontario Knife it's probably not a Full Tang because on the lmf 2 buy Gerber they put a spacer between the both metal parts in the handle so that way it is in conduct electricity in kill you so you could cut out of a fuselage in a plane

That airsoft joke cracked me up. The snake gaiters is something i've never seen as well. I mean, i've always thought of having some sorta protection for when you accidentally enter snake territory but i've never seen such product actually existing. Literally no "i don't like it"'s on this box too, which is something crazy when an honest person like you reviews stuff like this. The knife of the month looks really sick as well. I like this box too, but it's a sad thing i can't really subscribe to this box, because the shipping + cost of the box itself is gonna be around 300 BGN (Bulgarian currency) which is almost as much as the most minimum wage you can get paid once per month. Thanks for this cool video again though! Looking forward to the other boxes for the month to get delivered.

I like the Ontario knives, however i find fixed blades that are not full tang will rattle over time, and my opinion if the fixed blade knife is not full tang should only be considered a "fighting knife" however a full tang can be considered both, a fighting knife and bush craft/survival knife . What is your opinion on full tang and not full tang ?

That is one of the big parts of getting boxes like this. There is a fun element to not knowing what is coming. There have also been time when I have discovered new products that I might not have tried out otherwise. So I see the argument that IF you know exactly what you want, and you are putting together for a specific purpose, you could save money by shopping around for those items. But like you said, to me I'm paying for the fun of the box as well as what is inside.

Some pretty good stuff in there,surprised to see that old pattern webbing pouch,and a scrim,they make pretty effective scarves those scrim nets (sniper veils), also quite useful for a sling for a fractured arm too,push comes to shove you could use the scrim or the skeeter net for catching baitfish.

When you say "old" airforce survival knife, what era? Just curious because I have a 60's model actually in my hand as I type this. Ok, so yea, looking later in the video, I noticed it is literally the exact same knife, although mine is not nearly as clean, and it's been more than put through its paces. Lost the sheath, but the blade is still relatively sharp, and it has the original (leather?) handle on it.

I have two of those same kukri one is way over ten years old and the other only five. I beat the hell out of them and they are both still great and solid. The old one has a harder handle and no africa stamp and the new one has a soft/hard rubber handle in comparison. Also has the africa stamp. I think they are great for being cheap and how much shit they can take. If you somehow break one they are cheap enough to get over.
