I was born and grew up in a republic from Soviet Union. Since I was a child I have loved America. But so happened by fate that I live in America from 2001, and love this country, but my heart is broken when I see some things that are fighting against prosperity of this country. O lord God please intervene in behalf of this country.

Very few people realize this was a suicide pact, that’s why it’s a hymn. That’s also why this whole is considered sacred as is Dixieland in the south. If you’ve never noticed nobody messes with the songs. Not even the national anthem gets this level of respect.

My dad spent 30 years of his life serving under water on submarines for our great country. Thank you First Baptist Dallas Choir for honoring all men and women who have served in our military and especially those who gave their life for our freedoms. May God continue to watch over the United States of America and bless those who have gone before us to keep us FREE. May we never, ever forget the bombing of Pearl Harbor. God Bless the United States of America where Freedom is never, ever free.
And thanks for the service both your father and mine lovingly gave this wonderful country . We shall never see their likeness again. As for me, I shall go to my grave unrepentantly proud of America and all who love and respect her. God bless America!!

Songs and singing praises to God are everywhere in the Bible. The desire to sing praises to Him comes at regeneration (John 1:12-13, 3:3-8, Romans 8:9, Titus 3:5, 1 Peter 1:23 etc) when JOY and gratitude fill our hearts (Galatians 5:22-24). That's why there are hymns and modern worship songs (eg Hillsong) with altogether billions of views on KZbin but almost zero from "other religions". Christianity is unique but it takes reading the New Testament (and, ideally and especially, being born again/born of the Spirit) to realize that.

The first time I heard that song was in a Baptist church in Rosewood Heights Illinois. My dad was a Green Beret. He was away when a young man from our church was killed in Vietnam. My dad brought his body back. I remember my dad standing in the aisle of the church larger than life, as he always was to me, crying. It was a first for me to see that. It was also my first experience with death. I could never listen to the song without crying after that. After my dad passed away in March of 2016. I heard the song for the first time without crying. Much anyway. Someone told me I was carrying his pain. When he passed there was no more pain for him. My Grandpa was the pastor of our church and the service. I guess I knew he met my dad at the gates of Heaven. I try to live my life the right way so that in time I can see everyone again. Thanks for stirring my soul.

We had the version from Bill and Gloria Gaither played at my dad's memorial service (in 2006 before this FBC-Dallas video was available). It can seem a somewhat unusual piece for a funeral, but my dad was an American patriot and we knew there would be like-minded military people attending who might not know other Christian songs that would be played and hoped they would connect with this one, which MUST include that magnificent last verse: "In the beauty of the lilies, Christ was born across the sea, with a glory in His bosom that transfigures you and me, as He died to make men holy, let us live to make men free, while GOD IS MARCHING ON!"

I know I will see Garrett one day not because he was a good but because when he was a younger guy it was by faith he asked Jesus to be his Lord and Saviour.....just as I have done! Garrett was known to share verses of Scripture with his fellow Marines. He was very fond of quoting John 15:13 "Greater love has no man than this that he lay down his life for his friends." Several of his fellow Marines had t-shirts made up with that scripture verse on those shirts when we met them later that same year.

Darn straight pal.... Our Nation is now in a civil war that needs to be won for the sake of mankind. Arrogant? Nope, the USA, us Yanks, is one Nation amongst three to four that still offers and protects FREEDOM. However, if the Harris-Biden bunch gets in, this will not be the case.

His truth continues to march forward. The day is soon approaching when he will command his angels to lift the bowls of his wrath. At his command, each will pour what can not be stopped. Nothing in heaven or on earth can withstand him. Woe unto those inhabitants on the earth on whom his wrath is poured on! Even now, Maranatha! Come Lord Jesus, come!
@ruthj.48457 ай бұрын
Even so, Lord Jesus, quickly come. He will right all the wrongs and make all things new. Then He will dwell with His people who have repented of their sins and put their faith and trust in Him. We must pray for those who are still lost and held in bondage to sin. Open their eyes Lord!

I sang this version as a top tenor with a large choir and orchestra in Canberra in 1976. I still can remember those top notes at the end. In the repeat concert the big bass drum started to bang and my pregnant wifes water broke (six weeks early) and our son was born soon after. Thanks for bringing back that wonderful night of memories. 200 years of American music.
