I learned how to play this song on mandolin cause I had to play it in a LZ cover band. The band broke up but the mandolin stayed with me, somehow! It's a very fun instrument to play. In the words of JPJ: "It's the perfect instrument to practice while watching TV or anything like that."
@bournphree75656 жыл бұрын
I've been playing mandolin for over 10 years now-I'm amazed at how many different genre of music it can do! Jimmy Buffet Son of a Sailor-(has 2 melodies blended together!)-Allman Bros Jessica (I play the piano parts as well!) Doc Watson Tennessee Stud-Grateful Dead Cassidy & Dire Wolf & China Cat Sunflower-Van Morrison Moondance (piano parts too!) Willie Nelson Georgia....Sweet Georgia Brown/Ain't Misbehavin/Johnny B Goode (yep-it's fun!) and many many more....When I die they can have everything I have...but the mandolin goes with ME!

@@BillCollinsGuitar now with this covid stuff here in my country (Portugal) we are going to have a second quarantine and im going to see if i can buy a mandolin to learn by myself because i know how to play guitar so the theory is there just need to work on technique and building the calluses haha lets see if i can buy one to learn songs from Led Zeppelin to traditional folk music from the United States and other places with cool mandolin parts

You don't hear stuff like this these days. A truly gifted musician playing an incredible instrument to play a masterpiece. Someone said hypnotic. It really is. I have so much to learn. This is one of the if not the best tutorial I've seen. Thankyou for sharing your gift with us.

As a non-musician, I never thought much about or recognized which instrument contributed which sound to the music I enjoyed. But just recently I became aware that mandolins were used in so many of the songs I love. I just ordered a cheap mandolin to monkey around with... I don't feel I have any natural aptitude for music (can't sing, poor sense of timing, poor memory, etc.) but hopefully I'll have fun playing with the thing and hopefully learn a couple tunes eventually.

I'm surprised this is not higher up on the KZbin search because it's one of the best covers of this song. Interesting fretting location for the intro, most use the D string for the bass accent notes at the 2nd, 1st, and open frets. Excellent job!
