Olympus seems to reproduce better natural colors. In some sequences on Panasonic you look a bit ill. I now Panasonic have more advance colour settings but in this example i prefer Olympus colours and sharpness. Regards

IT really depended on the lighting. But the Olympus is definitely warmer than the Panasonic. I'm sure changing color settings would enable one to get the appearance they desire. In some shots, hit face was too red on the Oly or too pale on the Panasonic.

Some points: -You could have used the flat picture profile on the EM5 to get an unsaturated look. -Who cares about 1080p when the em5 mkiii has a brilliant 4k image? -The hiss is only a problem under those exact conditions, notice how it is not there when you are speaking? If it were as bad as you suggest you would also notic the hiss then. The EM5 has a compressor that like all compressors raise volume when is low or no sound. Try it again in an ambient environment or test it while you are talking. it will be similar to the Panasonic. -If you use digital stabilisation + IBIS on the EM5 there is nothing better in mirrorless cameras.

Admittedly, the castle camera walk was no Derek Forss type video,, but then again,, I stayed awake,,so ...there you have it. Just for fun,,if given the chance try a Panasonic GX-8, compact body with 20 mp sensor,,, weatherproof,, fully articulated screen,, rugged magnesium construction and a mic jack. I have been able to edit G9 footage with my GX-8 B-roll (both having Rode micros) and have not had to really tweek the audio much to match. ..just a thought. I'd love to see you do walk around reviews with GX80/85 vs GX9, EM5ii, EM5iii. I love your walk around two cameras at a time review style/methods. You're very entertaining and informative. I especially appreciate your usuability comments, such as G9 being so heavy your shoulder ached; and I especially like your sound comparisons and reviewing. AFAIK no other reviewers do thorough sound comparisons. Most other reviewers are all about still photos. Some are about video, but only the visual aspects. Very few evaluate sound, and none do it as well as you.

Yeah! I missed camera gear vids (tbh, that's what got me following you; the shenanigans with Panasonic!). I've got the GH5, because it's insane. Between the anamorphic mode, 4K60p, 10-bit, HLG, waveforms and vectorscope overlay and such, there's just about nothing you can't throw at it. So super versatile. Then I have the G9, because it's the stills flagship with its own plusses. I had the Olympus E-M1 and it was cool and all, but they only really do the basics right, nothing more, nothing less. Kinda lacks the bells and whistles. However, it's still cringe Panasonic still puts faith in DfD AF. Meanwhile Olympus E-M1 Mark II & III really nail it!

@@BenFox01 What was her name again, the Panny representative? 'Carrol'? I had the small premium compact LX100 before and it was amazing, one of the first larger sensor compacts (4/3" - 1.33") with a bright sensitive lens (f/1.7-2.8)! But since that was their first attempt and would learn its child diseases/flaws over the years, I thought they'd address that in the LX100 Mark II. But the Mark II hardly saw ever change over the original. So now, it can't keep up with the Sony RX100 series. Which have their own demons. After the RX100VA, they shifted to a bigger range less sensitive lens setup, which doesn't do it for me. Canon in meanwhile released the G7 X Mark III and G5 X Mark II. Now that's something to behold. I just wish the G5 X Mark II kept the formfactor of the previous iteration, along with its EVF hump and hotshoe. I like the new 24-120mm lens on it, it offers 20mm more on the tele end, but keeps the f/1.8-2.8 and has a closer minimum focus distance! If they would've paired that with the G7 X Mark III's livestreaming and microphone input, that would've been a killer vlogging camera! The G7 X Mark III still is great though, 24-100mm f/1.8-2.8 with that 1" sensor does pretty well. It got butchered in early reviews for not only wasn't it's C-AF worse than Sony, it was worse than it's very own predecessor, the G7 X Mark II that's still to many the go-to KZbinr's choice. Also, it was so weird for Canon to leave out 24p. They had to include it through firmware (much like Olympus did to the original E-M1) after the crowd revolted! They addressed C-AF with a new algorithm as well... which is half decent, but nothing to write home about. There's still space for Panasonic to shine in this category... if you can pull any strings over at Panasonic! Please let them give us the dream vlogging/allround little camera! I also had the GX80 and GX9. You pair it with the Leica 15mm f/1.7 and it's a beautiful little compact setup with similar footprint to a LX100. But, there's issues there as well that don't make them ideal for vlogging. It's kind of frustrating! It's like they don't want to appeal to vloggers, lol. xD Anyways, enough ranting. :P Cheers mate, take it easy! I'm learning some new skills out here, keeping myself busy! Stay safe!

I am with you Ben. I would have stayed with the Panasonic. I think you probably already have an investment in Panasonic lenses which would be another deal breaker for me. I haven't used a DSLR for a very long time and never vlogged. My last DSLR is a Nikon D5100 which has sat for a very long time. I do like the feel of DSLR cameras because it reminds me of my photography days in college when I still developed my own film. My phone cameras have just been superior in many ways and are the ultimate in portability. Have you tried the Sony A6600 or Sony A7 cameras? I never considered a Sony camera before but they seem to be getting more popular with more professionals. Are you looking at getting the new DJI Mavic Air 2? The improved video and photo quality on it is pretty amazing. The follow me feature is also now vastly improved and I could see that being useful for chasing you around on scooters. You can lighten up your backpack by reducing your drone weight :)
@BenFox014 жыл бұрын
Soooo...Honestly, phones are incredible, tried the Google Pixel the other day and was blown away! Happy to use those for everyday pics. And yes I have tried the Sonys, im just a sucker for stabilisation and the Sony's just cant match Panasonic or Olympus (albeit with their smaller sensors). And with regard to the Mavic 2, I originally had the Mavic Pro and sold it for the Air to 'downsize' but was such a let down because signal and range was so weak - so currently thinking of selling my Mavic Air either for the Air 2 or Pro 2... But Tbh I rarely use a drone these days 🤔✈️
@RCDevotee4 жыл бұрын
@@BenFox01 Thank you for reminding me of stabilization. I forgot that was the Sony achilles heel. The new Air 2 is an amazing drone especially at that pricepoint. The move to Ocusync 2.0 will make the Air 2 range problems go away. I haven't had a videography drone for many years now. I like making my own race and freestyle drones :)

I'm scared of the words professional vlogging most are boring . Most don't do anything interesting about where they're from or what life is like where they live. They seem to be just about ego and narcissism and not interesting. I think most people are not using it to any real type of integrity. Most are just in it to help Amazon make extra money and transfer of wealth. It gets almost as bad as video Gamers that think they're going to be the next big thing. Fight you're a lockdowns and support independent camera stores. Amazon ,Costco, and Target , can all go where the sun don't shine. And remember you have a choice Ivermetcin.
