For the money, the Sigma is an unbelievable value. But, if you have the funds, the Sony is objectively the better lens.

In my country with cashback, Sony is $700 and Sigma $500. Can't decide, obviously preffer lighter, smaller lens but 16mm + sharpness is important too 😂😅

Price is certainly a consideration. If you are on a tight budget, the Sigma is the clear favorite. But keep in mind that Sony lenses do hold their value so even though it is more expensive, you will be able to sell it for more if you switch systems or no longer need it.

I have this lens and yes, it is good enough and more. It is excellent. For those times I need a wider view, I pull out my 11mm Sony. As one who shoots stills mainly, the Sigma is my choice. The close up focusing is the deal.

The minimum focus distance is a HUGE plus for the Sigma. The Sigma zoom with the 11mm is a great simple 2 lens travel kit!

If you shoot primarily stills, then there is probably no need to upgrade. Unless you need the 16mm wide end or plan on using it mostly for video work, then the Sigma is more than good enough.

7min 36 sec you show resolution charts. They are all parallel line. Consider using a chart with converging lines. With converging lines you can get a better idea of where the limit of the resolution is.

I suppose you could add that to the mix, but it's a little bigger and heavier than the Sony, so probably not one I'd be interested in. But, if you want the extra reach on the long end, it's a great option! We are so lucky to have so many choices with the e-mount.
