That intro....so funny. Love the two of you reviewing together 😂

I'm not sure I agree with Mazda's environmental justification. That battery is going to be maxed out regularly, charged regularly and fully discharged more often too. That all adds up to the battery degrading much quicker than larger batteries therefore it will either need replacing or the car gets scrapped very early - doesn't sound that environmentally friendly...

I'm SO glad we got the MG! Roomy and accessible (you can get in and out so easily, try the hopeless Vauxhall Meriva with kids and a shopping trolley!), comfy with vegan leather and heated front seats, opening roof in MG tradition, good range, great to drive, and....saved THOUSANDS of euros!

I am proud owner of MX-30 and been using it for last 6 months now.I am in love with this car, interior, exterior quality everything is awesome. I am practical guy, my daily commute is 50KM and once in 6 months I use it for long range so 200KM range is more than enough for me, also I liked to idea of reason behind having lower battery ( environmental saving around metal extraction) why to keep 500 Km/ change range when you have daily uses less than 100 km/ day. And according to study average commute in Europe is 40 km. So please don’t talk about range and go with impractical reasons. About suicidal doors it’s again invocation and for me with height 172 cm , I do not find any issue at all, it has big leg space and person/kids can go in/out very easily so again practically it’s perfect. About interior MG is no where near to Mazda. One is Chinese and other is Japanese so can’t compare on this point. Mazda MX 30 has best interior, great plastic quality also Color combination is perfect so overall awesome experience. Guys go with practical mind, just do go with blindly like ants who just jump into race.

I share with you my experience after 6 months driving a MX30, and not just test-driving it for a few hours, MX30 is absolutely a very gorgeous car, inside-out with outstanding finishing quality and very comfortable and pleasant to drive. BUT WHAT A SHAME!!! Technically as an EV, MX30 is useless! When the temperature drops to freezing point or even near, driving range on the highway drops to 110KM (140KM off highway) and worst is the charging time, it takes over 3 hours (in cold weather) to recharge the battery on a CCS 50KW/h charging station and not 45 minutes as announced by Mazda! You need to stop 3 hours at a fast charging station to be able to drive less than one hour!

I have no doubt that Mazda's 'holistic' approach will change, and they'll start making larger / better technology batteries or their EV's will be impractical outside of Europe.

MG by far the winner around 250 kilos lighter than mazda even though bigger battery capacity (hence longer range)

More of these two handers please! Great fun having you both review via the medium of slagging. Serious question though, is it legal to retail a new car with the wrong units displayed? Of course that may be a UK spec press car, in which case, graaaaand. Love the Mazda, but it ain't a family car. A tall stylish city car for couples, yes.

Just ordered my MG ZS EV. I did look at the mazda as I could get them for more or less the same price. Range and rear leg room were deciders for me, my son is 6 foot (183cm) and I'm 6'2 (188) so rear leg room is a must. Range, while not a deal breaker is also a factor. The Mazda certainly looks better, inside and out. But with cars, its function over form rather than the other way around. Good review, and happy it confirms what I already thought. Nothing worse then spending £1000's on some thing to realize you got the wrong thing.... :-)

Love this video/format, the MG seems like a much better prospect as a family car in terms of, y'know, having real back doors whereas the cork trim on the Mazda looks manky, the scroll wheel is infuriating and the range isn't great. But a mph speedo would really put me off the MG
@brec58792 жыл бұрын
Are all the MGs in Ireland in miles? That’s mad. I’m driving a NI original car and is in miles and shows km in just a fig but dials in miles. I thought buying a new car you cud at least change in settings in a new modern car. My car is 10 yrs old.

I'm in Canada and I bought a 2023 Mazda MX-30 GS as a second vehicle and at the same time got into EV. I use it only from may 01 to october 31 (no winter). It was the best deal as Mazda was offering a 4000$ rebate + 12000$ rebate from the governments (provincial & federal). I use it for my daily commute for groceriy, shopping, meetings etc... All within 40 km from my house. If it was my only véhicle (EV), I would have ordered one with a range of around 400 km instead. 🧐

Fun, entertaining, bantering review. 😄 Because of the lower-level prices, the value-for-money verdict makes senes. I recently drove the MG ZS EV for a week and, as a Tesla owner, I was very impressed with it. For instance, the blindspot indicators on the wing mirrors, comfy seats, and great all-round visibility. There are obviously negative points, but the MG is still a great EV to have especially with the 7 year warranty (did you mention the warranty?).

I bought a Mazda MX-30 3 months ago and 100% no regrets picking it up over the MG. Especially with the recent major rust issues on MG’s after only a year of been on UK and Irish roads. Also they made the Mazda out to be more of a pain to live with than reality, both cables fit in the small back without issues. I’ve taken a trip from Drogheda to Newry on the motorway and it took 45% there and 40% back with 4 adults. And belting down the back roads are pretty fun. When I tested the MG it felt cheap, hollow plastic slow centre console, no app it didn’t feel like an upgrade from my Alfa Romeo Mito. Where the Mazda MX-30 it drove and felt like a smaller Alfa Romeo Stelvio.

the Mazda is perfect for us that have to have two cars anyway, as a second car. We will rearly drive more then 100km in one day, so the battery will not get totally empted or need to charge to 100%. If we need to to go longer or with all the kids, we use our Ford S-Max Diesel instead, but 80% of our weekly travel will be done with the Mazda. And the roads here are mostly 70 km/h roads, so the milage will be more then enough for us. We can also charge at home, so it will be very cheap to charge also, and allways acces to a charger. And this is exactly what Mazda has designed this car for, NOT for them who only have one car and need to do 200km+ journeys regulary

@aakeister3 жыл бұрын
Mazda have made two major failings into that car. Yes, suicide doors look snazzy, but are impractical enough for families and the size of the door makes it useless. People will not buy the car because of that. Secondly, they have it wrong with regards to the size of that battery. The figures quoted are the maximum and the battery at new. These batteries lose charge and storage over time. Yiu will need to charge it more and all that will reduce the life of it, so, over time you would have to swap the battery more than larger units. Another fail
