Thank you for sharing vast passion and knowledge for history with us but I’m sorry this video was just a bit too negative and dragging on for my liking.

I appreciate you watching and commenting. It's unfortunate that you felt this way. I disagree that this is overly negative and drawn out. Have a good rest of your day. 🙂

@@AnExtrovertPaintssorry for been a bit of a party pooper. On the upside it was very informative and honest. I think I learnt more about the Italian attire by watching this video than I have in the few months of KZbin researching them. Hopefully the manufactures out there can take something away from this as well.

@@lukeshirley8496 Thanks! That means a lot! I didn't want to spend a whole lot of extra time editing this, so it's definitely not one of my most exciting. But I didn't want to leave out details which might prove useful for those with questions. If you want to know something, feel free to ask and I'll answer you if I can.

Stop apologizing for 20 minutes and get to the point of the vid (and half it's duration) 🙄😅

Here's the thing...if I didn't spend all that time setting up the video, people would just assume I've got an axe to grind rather than going over real, serious issues with the plastic set. I know it's annoying and a bother, but think of it from a creator's perspective. You're not the only one watching this video. Fans of WGA will also watch it; I don't want them to think I'm just attacking WGA because I have some sort of grudge. I do appreciate the feedback. I may revisit the video in the future and do a 'cut-down' version which will be half the time. We'll see. What parts of the video did you like the best so I know what to focus on?

Definitely agree with your final thoughts. The Warlord ones look much better to my eyes. I don't know who is doing the sculpting for Atlantic but I have a feeling that person isn't putting any of his own miniatures together.

Glad I found this video. Everyone else online seemed to be gushing over the WA kit. Any book recommendations aside from Osprey that would be useful building and painting the warlord kit ?
@AnExtrovertPaints2 жыл бұрын
Glad you found the video helpful! There are a few Osprey books to check out! You can pick up any of the Italian Army books, just give some consideration to the time period and theatre you’re looking to build your force around.

Just curious - what's your opinion of the Perry Miniatures Italian range of metal miniatures?
@AnExtrovertPaints2 жыл бұрын
They have similar issues with some incorrect kit (helmets are a bit stubby), but overall still great quality! I wish that they also did a bit more research into their Italians; it's evident as their Italian LMG teams don't come with the Breda 30 loader backpack with the spare barrels. And it isn't like you can just say that they weren't used; every image of an LMG team in combat and out utilized these backpacks because without them the Breda 30 can quickly become ineffective. But their sculpts are still amazing as are nearly all Perry stuff. I use them in my armies as well. Similarly, I also really like Empress Miniatures' Italian range, though again they suffer from the same issues discussed above. It's strange how many companies have done Italians 'slightly wrong'--that is, they get most things right, but seem to just fall off where it really makes a difference. For example--helmets. Helmets are so easy these days to sort out. You can create them in a virtual sculpting program using actual pictures of real helmets from the war, then 3D print them and use them on your hand-sculpted minis. But it seems like companies are just...fine, I guess...fabricating the look of the helmets without actually caring what they looked like in real life. No company so far except for Warlord has gotten the helmets correct. So yeah...long story short, Perry's are great. But still fall short of Warlord's plastics in a lot of ways. If they ever get to making a new Italian plastic kit, however, that might change my mind.

Wonderful comparison. I, too, like the Italians in WWII and think they are much better than the way history has portrayed them.

Thanks! Agreed; they were shafted by history and propaganda. Keep spreading the word about how great they were! ;-)

Are the Great Escape Alpini any better? I was hoping for some cheap plastic Alpini but I don't think I wanna buy them after learning this
@AnExtrovertPaints Жыл бұрын
I am fairly certain Warlord is dropping Alpini plastics next. They are releasing a whole metal range to go along with them as well. Given how soon the Bersaglieri followed the regular army and black shirts, maybe wait a bit and see how you find them? That said, I do think the Great Escape minis are really well done, historically speaking, though not as big a fan of their sculpts (I'm spoilt for detail these days). But they do the job!

I had looked at the Wargames Atlantic figures when they first put them up and they just didn’t look good to me but didn’t really analyse why. I bought their plastic 95th rifles spru and was underwhelmed with the poses and fit of the arms. It put me off their boxes.

They did, but I'm not sure what is your point? Warlord acquired lots of assets from lots of companies, but we can agree that what they produce is of an entirely different quality than what they sometimes acquire. ;-)

@@AnExtrovertPaints I heard they sometimes mass with the moulds. Like the Project Z Spec Ops minis. Instead of 4 minis with lots of extra poses, you 8 minis, 4 of the in weird poses. To give 8, they took limbs from the original 4.

Ok so you bring a lot of knowledge and passion and that's great. Please write a script for yourself and read through it. You don't have to go word for word from your script but an outline and points you want to emphasize can reduce the repetitive rambling that makes this video so long and kinda hard to watch despite the knowledge you clearly have and want to give to us (and we want to get!)
