We could go thru whole debate how actually Electric cars are clean (if the process of building them is bad), but I do not believe it makes sense with this kinds of manufacturer. Also it does not need to be labeled as "bad" as it meets several criteria that gives them good excuse - their cars are in limited numbers and not driven a lot (probably one A class pollutes far more in its lifetime), they are being build with different purposes and methodology (in many ways Electric supercars are still not performing nearly as ICE), it's price and beauty makes them almost like jewelry. Maybe there are other attributes you could assign to this manufacturer. Secondary, nothing they develop (except engine) is a waste. Aero, suspension, chasis, tires... that all will be of benefit to e-cars. So instead of looking it very black and white, I am trying to see it as evolution step. For daily comute - bring ecars on, but for joy of driving (racing) ICE is still way to go...

Fire Blade In what way? If one were shining on that stage its was Christian. When it comes to choice of clothing, smiling and a more open body language. Story wise they both did okay though I thought Mate did some wierd sudden switch of subject like when he said his car accelerates faster than the LaFerrari out of nowhere when he was talking about something else. Mate overall looked nervous from his body language and sounded nervous from talking a bit too fast. But equal respect to them both, two geniuses that makes the world much more fun and green :)

Kim V Dude Mate is new so yea i agree that he was a little nervous as he isnt used to this, but the thing he hjas created is a beast and koenigsegg actually took Rimac's help in Regera's Electric Assist.

I think both are amazing in their own way. As much as I am a Christian fan I have to admit that Mate is pushing the envelope more than Christian is at this point. Like you said, Christian getting help from Mate on his new car speaks volumes.

they are both fantastic, what Koenigsegg did with Ragera is next level for petrol cars and Rimac is doing next level electic. Personally I like Ragera more but Mate has bigger potential,right now his car is a bit to clinical, while Ragera packs big emotional punch.

That's the point of Rimac, when you push technologies, you explore and find new things and ways, this new things and ways will find a way into the affordable products, but the research and development is initially paid by the rich guys that want the latest stuff. Don't worry, you will see a 'nice cool practical car for the masses' either from RIMAC (they are already a big ass player in the automotive market, they even supply Koenigsegg with batteries for the Regera), or other companies that will use RIMAC parts for their cars.

What Rimac did is very impressive, but Königsegg is superior. The Concept one is a 2 ton heavy monster with extremely impressive acceleration. Königsegg on the other Hand - 700 kg lighter. There is no way the rimac will keep up on winding roads. Same for the LaFerrari which accelerates slower but... this thing is just too heavy. Chiristian said it too - he doesnt like elctric cars, they are too heavy. The other thing is: The Rimac got only this annoying electric sound - i would miss a proper engine sound in a car like that badly. Yet, i am super impressed what mate build up there and of course he will easily sell every car he and his Team build for whatever price he calls for it.

The thing with electric cars is the batteries, Mate said it himself, the batteries are crap, but once those improve, the electric cars will be way ahead of combustion cars

Really the greatest improvement in concept one is torque vectoring system, controling each wheel with its own motor. And by that it is waaay ahead of any combustion engine car, not to talk about corners and drifting. This car is literally from the future. Wach some videos about concept one and you will get it. Of course Königsegg is pushing boundaries, but concept one is out of this world. Just imagine Rimac and his new car for like 10 years. Also, the Rimac produced a racing car with 1500 HP, and it was an sensation on Pikes Peak, that proves what Mate said, concept one is just the beginning, the car could go much much faster and it could have much more power but its restricted by the system. And in the end, tell me the difference in speed by these two? Königsegg slightly better but, lets say it weights like concept one, you think it would beat him? Of course not, because electric motor is waaaay more efficient :)

You fool. Combustion engine is primitive technology of the past. Electric car engines are the future. Mate is ten times the brain od that bald swede or whatever he is. Mate started in a post war Balkan country with all the challenges and made gold out of rock. It was way easier for Koenigsegg.

Electric cars will continue to outpace the ICE cars but they still have a lot of drawbacks. Out right performance really isn't that important, especially at these figures. I'd rather have a boot, space for my arms, nicely trimmed interior and bad ass engine noise. Electric cars are for sure the way things are going but ICE are so much cooler an experience. When you add weight you lose a lot of enjoyment, Christians philosophy is much more akin to the purist drivers which imo is correct. The Tesla S for instance has a very cheap nasty interior, if I was spending this amount on a luxury family car I would have to be a modern technical geek or eco warrior, even then I would have to argue the environmental benefits. Electric cars still have a long way to go although they are killing everything on the drag strip.

But Nikola Tesla had not only electric motors, he also invented, or tried to invent, things that can transport electricity without a cable, through air. And he had things like the induction where you don't need any cable, and this could be the future. Or the Tesla coil which could be also transport electricity and its really working, i have seen it in real life but only for neon-lamps on 3 meters, but it could be. Or a new battery, which can have a lot of power inside of it. You never know what the future is, but i think there will be something new. But you are right that there is a long way to this future.

I can tell you've never driven an electric car. I have both and I don't like my ice car anymore. There is NO substitute for the instant torque, it will always feel faster than your ice car. I prefer the electric motor noise now to any motor, after driving an electric car for a while you will feel like you stepped back in time as you step back into your ice car. I have a full size boot, arm space, everything I have in my ice car. Oh and 4000 km of driving costs me less than 1 fill up in my ice suv that gets 600km per tank. My EV is a Leaf, it's faster than my turbocharged suv, up to almost 80km per hour, yeah a Leaf.

even in drag racing EVs aren't new and they do have limitations to what they can do on a track as well... EVs still need more development that is why all of the big car companies like GM, Toyota, Ford, MB, BMW, Honda is still making cars that use gas engines (its more expensive to make a gas car because there is much more parts to produce)... @steve green yeah instant torque is good and all but on the highway or stuck in traffic that instant torque doesn't matter... also you have a turbo SUV and a Leaf??? talk about jackal and hyde you have going on...

I've driven a Lexus rh450 hybrid, to be honest I wasn't overly impressed, I'm not a big suv fan anyhow but it was a nice enough car . I sat in both a Tesla S and roadster. The roadster was actually not much different to my Lotus Elise, apart from the lack of luggage space. I also have an integrale evo2 chipped and running 1.2 bar, neither of my cars are particularly fast but quick enough to out pace most everyday cars, for me it's all about driving pleasure firstly. I wish I had driven the tesla roadster to get a feeling for an EV sports car, but after driving a friends supercharged elise I was left a little disappointed. in a sports car the addition of weight, even with more power can really take away a lot of balance and driving enjoyment. With regards to the Tesla S, it was nothing short of diabolical for interior comfort and design. the trim was cheap and tacky, seats not up to luxury car standard and dashboard dominated by a horrible huge tablet. On top of this the range is not that great if you want to drive a long distance and theyve introduced charging money at charging points, which works out expensive, as much as if not more than petrol. like I said, benifits for me would be linear superior acceleration, drawbacks lack of refinement, weight, driver envolvement.

Any Koenigsegg will absolutely flog a La Ferrari. Add to that even the slowest ones go over 400Km/h. And the Agera RS is the current fastest limited production car in the world.

Koenigsegg is the winner. If you take a piece of paper and write down what did, the fact is...Koenigsegg is a true pioneer by creating, and inventing new concepts. Combining electric motors with a gas engine and transmission, with insane power, speed, and space for occupants and storage, and added luxury. That's putting your whole life into it. Its everything to one man, and totally new to the world. Rimac, built a car with battery power, and designed software in collaboration with each wheel. Does that make him an supercar/hypercar bulder? I don't want to knock his accomplishments, at the same time it just doesn't put him in the same category with Koenigsegg. If this was the case then Tesla should have been there as well. If they both were given a new task to build a whole new hypercar, brand new to the world....Koenigsegg would come out on top, not by a close shot, but by strides. I know this hurts to hear, but the truth is the truth. Why not give credit to the person that is capable of achieving innovative creations. Why share that spot light with anyone that doesn't deserve it. Plus! Koenigsegg believed in himself and what he was doing so much that in a time where what he was doing wasn't even a thought of. A concept in the mind of only one person that didn't know if anyone wanted it or not, and dedicated his whole life into that idea without any confirmation of success, because it was all new. That's a true pioneer.

What he done is impressive but a hybrid engine isn't a new concept.Your option on innovation is wrong aswell, Rimac makes everything in-house the torque vectoring is unique the fact that Rimac supplies other manufacturers as well as a broad range of products with his equipment is another plus for Rimac.Porche has bought into the company aswell so that shows you there belief and high opion they have of Mate. And if you watch a video with someone going for a test drive in the concept one the sheet acceleration blows there minds.Anyway they are both incredible guys and they are both pushing the boundaries but you can't say this one is better or not as one is developing fully electric technology not just the car and to be honest Rimac is the future.Christian is pushing the boundaries on something that's been around for along time hybrid ATM, so what this isn't unique I bet you'll see Christian going all electric in the future aswell.

problem with middle class cars is upfront investment. same reason why Tesla started with small sport coupe and is now slowly moving towards lower price markets. Mate mentions this when he said he wanted to make some parts at volume manufacturer and they asked for too much money-that is cost of tools needed for mass/low price production.

You really should listen to all the talk. The technologies will find a way into the normal cars and Mate, that is only in business for less than 7 years, is already doing a fuck ton, remember Koenigsegg saying that he took 8 years just to make the car? Mate, has a car, a factory and a R&D center (he became a supplier of parts for the automotive industry, mostly batteries (the Regera uses RIMAC batteries) and for a lot of vehicles, electrical bicycles, for example, the wheelchairs, software, a bunch of shit that will be used by other brands. These guys are essential, the targeting of the 1% should be praised because they are the ones testing and funding, experiments, they are the ones eating all the problems and living with the consequences of having a beta car. We will get the evolution of that technology, just not right now, I don't mind at all to be honest. Tesla has the model 3, not an expensive car at all. Hell, even a second-hand model S isn't that expensive today, you can get it for the price of a brand new Honda or a bottom of the range C class.

Mate Rimac isnt selling he told once in an interview that he had a investor and the investor tried to screw him and his company over by relocating then. He got rid of the investor sold everything he had and is working alone now only answerable to himself.

LOL.. with what money?? dude Tesla owe people money, they haven't turn a profit since they started... Rimac is making money by selling components to car manufactures (they don't really want to make cars but be a big name OEM for other car companies sort of like Bosh or Brembo or Recaro)
