Actually I use it for tank combat I usually hang out with another tank to support him with a cannon and by then the tanks dead plus the players focus on the tank so I protect the tank so I don’t get focused on

It's honestly the same thing with every battlefield game, pilots always bitch and moan about how OP the AA is. As someone who has done well using both air vehicles and AA, I can honestly say the AA is in a pretty good spot. Regular players need to have a way to take out pilots who are going 40-0, and if the AA gets nerfed any more, than anybody could easily pilot a plane and fuck up any given server. It's whatever though, pilots will bitch and moan about anything until they can get their uncontested 100-0 game.

AA in bf4 is very OP. I'm very good AA player and can pretty much keep enemy aircraft stuck in their base in maps like golmud just camping near my own base. The only thing that can take me out is a highly skilled attack jet pilot. The 30mm in AA is very powerful compared to 20mm

That's what's pretty annoying about his rant: he complains about aa ruining the fun of pilots when in turn good pilots annoy the whole enemy team and are frustrating to eliminate. Sure the AA truck might infuriate them but who cares? Also it's semi balanced since it can easily be destroyed by anti tank weaponry and most players use the AT rocket gun so it's not like it's overpowered

I think rather than nerfing the AA more, which will also affect stationary AAs, they should make it so that they have to be within the playable area of the map. I've been in games where someone will spawn in an AA truck and just camp in their spawn, and you can't take them out on foot since it's out of the play zone.

Its Just an Apple It dosn't work that way, you can only avoid them if the guy in the AA totally sucks and if there is just one or two of them. The mobile AA can also get to new positions to shoot you no matter what. The better you are as a pilot the more dedicated and better players will focus you down so if you suck and can't get enough kills, the enemies will mostly ignore you

I know this video is old but, how I see it, stationary AA should’ve been the only AA we got. A lot of people might disagree but from my perspective, there is no counter play to fighting AA in this game. You have other planes fighting you, you have infantry fighting you, and there is AA. Planes in this game seem really slow unless you’re a fighter plane. On conquest, it’s very hard to establish a line in which you know that AA will start firing at you from the enemies base. In conquest maps, like the big desert map, you have two or three (if not more) AAs that can be either in your favor or against you. That cuts the map in so many slices of areas you can’t go near and then you have planes, vehicles and infantry all wanting a piece of you. That’s pretty intense and there’s no way to stop all that if they decide to attack you and you have no wingman. There should always be a safe zone for you to go if you’re being beamed by all three of those factions of military. In favor of AA, I think there should always be a base AA and it should respawn on a cool down if the enemy fighter planes take it out. Maybe if there was counter play to all these things, people would be so upset. It makes sense to me though. That’s a lot to handle with little reward in return if you’re trying to learn how to pilot or an experienced pilot even. I feel like people can see this point of view way more than they can see the less than 1%. Not to say their opinion doesn’t matter. It’s just that even they would have to concede that these 3 different issues with no counter play besides movement is a bit of a problem for new pilots.

I remember with the basic arty truck on this same map, I got stuck with the back of the truck in the air, and it was so easy to get shots on planes. Before I was destroyed by AT nade and rocket gun spam, I already destroyed 9 planes.

What also matter is that without the help of infantry lock on missiles, infantries in BF1 are very unlikely to take out airplane by themselves anymore. Without a rather OP anti-air gun, the only way to counter the airplane is by using another airplane. Because of the skill gap of the airplane piolet, the one side that has a better piolet will absolutely own the other side. I believe the only way for dice to truly balance the anti-air gun is to give the infantries some weapons to effectively take out airplanes by themselves.

First off there needs to be a better balance beteen operations and conquest to avoid confusion in the discussion. I think OP needs slightly more stationary AA while CQ needs less. Infantry can deal a lot of damage to planes if they only do it, which is rare though.

I haven't seen this truck. Is it a higher level vehicle? The only gun truck I have access to fires standard artillery shells (the kind that only explode if they actually hit something) and the barrel will only traverse upwards to about 45° from the horizontal.

Yeah... I've done quite a bit of piloting and the air balance isn't where it needs to be, especially regarding AA. I wouldn't have as much of a problem with AA if it actually had to hit you, but with the proxy fuses it's ridiculously easy to use. I'm not quite sure why this was necessary given the fact that planes take damage from everything, concentrated small arms fire can bring down a plane pretty quickly, or at least keep it from repairing. Fixing AA won't fix air on its own though, I feel like tail guns need to be looked at.

It might not take much skill to take out a plane when it's flying right above you (and happens to not bomb you), but it actually does take some skill to track and hit planes when they're much farther away. Even in this video, you seemed to have some trouble tracking planes flying in relatively straight lines at moderately long range (like at 5:35). I've never used the AA truck, just the stationary guns. The AA guns are completely unprotected and a lot are placed in awful positions (like right next to or in between buildings, or in a big open space where you can be shot from almost anywhere on the map). They have fairly limited range, and most players are unable to even hit more distant planes that are just barely in range. The best AA guns to use are the ones closer to where the planes are, and the planes are almost always flying over contested objectives, which means anyone sitting on an AA gun close to where planes are flying will be quickly demolished by infantry or a glance from any tank. *Edit:* Plus, the AA guns themselves can be easily destroyed. Considering all of this, I don't think it's so awful that there is one all-around effective counter from the ground against planes with the AA truck.

Arent AA perma-removed? If not, that should be the balance feature. I've gone through a lot in my head on how it should be nerfed, like reducing range and such, but I think perma-remove would be good enough. This means that you can blow up your enemies AA and not have to worry about it, but also potentially blowing up your own AA so that they can't sneak behind and use it on your planes.

I'd say to give the AA less shots to work with making it skill based and also not a massive weapon of destruction on the blimp. AA does fair damage especially considering WWI planes armour. I'd say make a health threshold for planes to be disabled on parts. Like at 75% tail can be damaged and at 50% wings. With these changes it would give pilots a little boost and allow AA players to still be able to take out planes but it would be only slightly more difficult.

I despise anti-air. It makes it incredibly difficult to learn to fly in a proper manner. I've probably logged 30 hours into flying alone and haven't gotten far mainly because I don't know how to properly deal with AA. Air to Air combat skills are fine, and I'm subpar at dealing with ground targets, but it's really difficult when 2 or 3 flags are armed with AA, and theirs typically an AA Truck every 3 or 4 rounds. It really takes away from the fun of flying for me. BTW, I love using the tank buster output for the attack plane. that's often times my best method for dealing with ground targets. Not bombs

I was getting killed by this thing yesterday. I kept bombing him but nothing happened. I ended up buying the mortar truck. Its completely different but i've been having fun using it. I use a pc and an xbox one controller to learn to fly,but the controller works great using the mortar truck for aiming. But I use mouse for shooting weapons as a soldier. You should have stated that the game mode you are playing is a likely culprit to your flying woes. On Conquest, ground troops would take out an AA truck quite quickly.

I got this game in 2018 but watched some vids to learn how to play. Thanks to this vid, I use the AA truck everytime, all match on Monte Crappa. Trying to capture bases with nothing but planes and snipers aiming for me pissed me off. I get a lot of vehicle (planes) kills hiding the truck in between bases on the low side of the map and moving a lot. I fucking hate pilots that go 75-1 so this AA truck is sweet revenge haha.

I am a primarily pilot I play as ap plane almost every match I have spent many hours mastering the fighter plane I get best pilot in every game I play to the point where enemy pilots leave the game in frustration because most planes I kill happen when they just spawn and I hit them with a full set of rockets but I can always outmaneuver another fighter if they get behind me instead of doing a barrel roll like an idiot I look at the map and go where they can't see me I confuse them until they give up then I get behind them and kill them the point is I have spent a very long time getting the skills I have and AA guns undermine that all and although now I've learned how to doge AA fire and destroy the turret the trucks have to much health for me to kill with rockets so I have to wait for my team to kill it which is very annoying

Keep posting stuff like this. I hope in the next patch they nerf the AA, the devs need to realize how incredibly powerful these things are. I've been a dedicated Fighter pilot since the game came out, and I still struggle against the AAs. I avoid Monte Grappa, Fao Fortress, and Empires Edge like the plague. Stationary AAs are everywhere, and when you get an enemy in the AA truck, it's a guarantee no fly zone

I'm usually in a plane myself (usually a bomber or attack plane, though I do fly the fighter from time to time, which not many people seem to realize one of the fighters can one shot the bomber and whoever's in it if positioned directly over the cockpit), and I always end up needing a couple of my friends to be there taking out the AA guns on the maps you mentioned so that I'm not just instantly shot down when I spawn with whichever plane I happen to be going for (which has happened too many times to count)

I can spend an entire game on the AA gun and get 7 kills max. They should get rid of the explosive rounds on AA & keep everything else the same... so make it direct hit rounds with slightly faster velocity & fire rate... that way it would take actual aiming to take down an aircraft... not just shooting within the area. It's too easy to shoot planes... especially if you're sneaky and don't shoot until the plane gets closer... easy kill since there is no time to get away from it...

Ye ye imma planemain, monte grappa has a little bit waaaaaay more AA-s than any other maps. To counter this you'll need to flank the AA behind a mountain, but once you killed an AA gunner there will be 2 other shooting at you. So my opinion is this:They need to remove the 2-2 AA-s at both spawns because there are just ppl camping it the whole game making flying impossible or nerf the range of AA-s because is bs that i spawn and a guys is already shooting me all the way from A, I swear I can't do anything on that map :(

Flying is not in any way noob friendly. It isn't too har to get kills as long as you can fly uncontested but that is the same with every weapon. If noone is shooting back at you, you can make any weapon/ vehicle look noob friendly. The moments an average player uses AA it makes fighters an attack planes more or less useless

I know I'll get flak from some of you for this but, in my opinion, AA's are fine. Without them its damn hard to take out a plane. If we didn't have AA's planes could easily go the whole match without dying. AA's were strong in WWI anyway. Planes had to consistently change their altitude, direction, and speed to counter act the AA's power. 105mm AA's (stationary) could shoot 27,000 feet into the air, and yes those were the timed delay explosive. Without AA's people would definitely be saying planes are OP. Just look at all the pilots comments from multiple youtubers; AA is only thing that kills me, so its too powerful/OP.

Shadiest One. Im with you on this subject. And for people thinking that AA is a 1 trick pony, try actually using it in a map where other tanks will hunt you. Not to mention when assault/scouts gang up on you. There is alot of skill involved in taking down other tanks as a AA-truck plus it takes forever meaning that planes are free to roam meanwhile. The amount of time i have had a light or heavy tank chasing me through Sinai desert because he wants the AA gun dead cant be counted anymore. And fyi AA = ANTI Aircraft. Should give you a hint about the purpose of the vehicle.

There is no way to take out the AA artillery truck with piloting skill, the skillbased planes siply doesn't deal enough damage. You can kill it with the bomber but that nothing to do with skill, you can siply out damage it as long as you know where it is ahead of time and get the right angle. Simpel but boring.

Well people tend to complain more about a problem, rather than trying to solve it. Something that is consider OP, i usually based on people not dealing with it. Since most games today are getting easier and easier, more noob-friendly, i can understand why this seems "OP". Eventho it might be OP, you can always do something about it. Communicate with your team and hopefully someone will keep it down. Most likely the "victims" of this just flame their team, being mad the whole round then ragequit at the end. Shifting the blame from the lack of ambition, and nerfing everything in their path, is not the way to go in my opinion...

Tanks counter infantry and vehicles, Planes counter tanks and infantry, infantry through teamwork or luck can counter tanks and planes. Yes AA is a fuck you to pilots the same as anti tank grenades are to tanks, or flamethrowers to infantry.

Low skilled AA countering high skilled pliots are fine because that is what AAs are for. Look at it this way, would it make sense for an infantry to have an equal chance of winning against a tank? Obviously not because tanks are meant to counter infantry and if it was easy to kill tanks then there would be no point of having tanks. AAs counter airplanes just like how planes are to counter anything on the ground. People may feel that AA turrets are a bit overpowered but that is usually because you team did not do the job of countering them. If your team have the air superiority, your job should be to destroy the AA turrets as you find them. Limpet charges, dynamites and anti-tank grenades can all lock an area out of AA for quite some time and allow your team's planes to have a fee reign in the skies. Conversely, if your team does not have air superiority, your job should be to protect the AA turrets from enemy sabotage. AA trucks may also seem overpowered because they are basically mobile and highly durable AA turrets but by spawning an AA truck you are gimping yourself out of the huge kill and push potential that comes from tanks. So there is a cost for countering air with the truck. If AA was much weaker than it is now, then it is quite possible for airplanes to have no counter besides another airplane and be quite overpowered. This was a conscious step made by battlefield because of the airplane nightmare that was bf2. If you remember playing bf2 then you remember getting bombarded to dust by airplanes and helicopters with no way to counter them. No AA missiles or guns could catch up to the planes before they simply one shot killed you with bombs. In fact, many games in bf2 were won if your team simply had one good pilot. I, for one, do not want to see that nightmare be repeated on battlefield ever again.

I've spent ALOT of time in planes, been a lvl 10 pilot for nearly 3 weeks now. I usually average between 8k and 15k pilot score when able to run the attack plane. That being said if I fucking hate people that use this. I spent too much time becoming good at planes for some random bum to shoot me down in 5 seconds. A simple fix IMO is to cut the range of AA guns in half, that way people will have to time their firing much more.

AA range is several times longer than planes effective range. AA shakes your plane and makes it extremely hard to shoot back. AA disables and kills your plane very fast. AA cooldown is way too short. AA projectile velocity is good. AA fires too many shells before it has to cool down. If you honestly belive that the AA gun isnt OP then you should try being effective in a plane when an AA gun is watching you, i bet you will bail the fuck out of it because its a lost cause right from the start. Nerf that garbage!!

If it was up to me if i made this game i would have said fuck aa guns! If you want me out of the sky get in a plane and take me out. We as pilots have to use strategy to take out aa. Not the same could be said for aa gunners. There is way to many aa guns on the maps some maps have 5 to 6 aa guns. Its way to powerful, shakes your screen alot, does way to much damage, radius is crazy , and it takes no skill. Dice you should atleast have 3 aa guns max on these maps. I could handle the shaking of my screen, damage and radius. Just have to cut down on aa

dan griffiths dude with three aa guns you can do damage to behemoths 6 is to much, plus you act like you cant just pick a anti air truck to help , or field guns, tanks, and your teams planes that do 200 damage to a behmonth if you pick the variation for behemoths. Plus when do you see a behemoth actually change the result in the game atleast in conquest. Once in a blue moon you see the behemoth actually get a win for the team. Most of the time the team with the behemoths lose.

The exact same argument occurs in EVERY game with combined air and ground gameplay. Now, I paused at 30 seconds and I don't have BF1 yet, let me try make some predictions. Your argument in favour of air; skillskillskillskill, community, dedication, practice, balance, fun, skill: argument against AA Skilless, OP, so easy a first timer could do it. Then ground plebs opinion against Air BS deaths from no where, next to no counter play, no cover, pretty much insta kill, if they're any good they can avoid the AA and in favour of AA it's the ONLY way to deal with air without having 15 people looking at the sun the entire game to just scare them off for 20 seconds to repair. sirgaz the problem is balance, the AA breaks the planes flight model when it starts getting hit, so the pilot has no control what so ever while taking damage. the plane simply just doesn't respawn to any key strokes at all to be able to maneuver away from fire. not only that, the amount of AAs scattered throughout each map, plus the artillery truck AA loadout and now add the range to each AA, it simply becomes suicide to even spawn in a plane. the AAs in my opinion should cover the area of its flag capture zone if every flag is going to have a AA gun on it. but rightnow 1 AA gun can cover 2 flag zones meaning AA coverage is overlapping the map multiple different ways, and for planes move across the sky like snails, how do you see no problem with AA guns being ok the way they are?

If AA is so OP why are there so many videos on youtube with plane pilots going over 50 kills in a round? Taking AA truck puts your team in disadvantage because you take a tank slot, so your team has less anti tank weapons. I fly planes and I use AA and if you dont fly directly to or above a AA and if you abuse the lead machanic it is not the easy to hit you... Every time sobedy is crying oer AA take put in the equation only the plane and AA, but AA has to worry about tanks infantry (snipers especially, most AA are positioned so that snipers can take you out from across the map) and planes, as you show in you vids, can take out AA with one run. AA is the only thing that does relaiable dmg to planes, mounted machine guns do 1 dmg per bullet! it takes coopereation a entire team to take plane down with soldier weapons and thats not OP?

Making planes a bigger part of the objective gameplay and more focus on the A2A would make pilots spend less time on only killing infantry. This will nee a new map design though

That's what the fighter plane is for. It can't do much other than shoot other planes, but currently it's kind of useless because everything else does its job better Also that thread is full of lies and misinformation, the OP just made most of it up and showed no evidence. What I don't get that tanks are allowed to be unkillable juggernauts but planes have to be instantly destroyed just by looking at them. I feel there's some bias there.

I saw that thread and it's so stupid that it's funny, tanks were used in BF4 a lot and they were very strong. That thread is just made by someone that sucks at the game and needs tanks to compensate for it, it's the same as in all combined arms games I've played since FFOW in 2009.
