In terms of support, you can run round trying to give people ammo and they just run away, unlike med kits where people are more desperate for health. I think they should have communications for stuff like, "I have ammo for you, pick it the fuck up".

Lol, saying thanks is mandatory in the consoles, not a lot of players go camping or just go for kills without playing the objective are in the consoles Maybe because it's harder to kill and players who buy the console just want to have fun, but Whenever you ask for an ammo pack they just drop it like Christmas (not always though)

I like to play as a dedicated pilot in the transport chopper and stay in it as long as my team keep me repaired. I transport anybody at almost every capture point where I can drop them off. I don't get to the top of the score board but at the end I got a lot of thanks for my piloting. I have to say that it is more rewarding playing like that then playing a lone-wolf with a high k/d ratio.

Here's my idea of what the revive system should be:You revive people like you did in BF3. No charging, very quick, very simple. Then from the moment you revive someone until about a second after, that person is in a state where he dies to any damage he takes. This is so you wouldn't get so easily outnumbered by some medic reviving a bunch of people with 100 health in front of you while you're mid-firefight. Then if the person revived survives for 5 seconds, the medic gets 100 points and your team is given a ticket. I hate charging the paddles not only because of the revive steals, but also because it feels like I'm being punished for being a good teammate. By trying to help out and reviving a teammate with 100 health, I am penalized by taking longer to revive and therefore being more likely to die. I don't think this is a good game design. I don't even care about the points, I'm already max level and points don't really mean anything anyways.

+dick butt Same here, i occasionally play the assault but i don't bother with the revives since it's that slow and annoying to get done. I just run an m26 Mass or an m320 because really i can get more use out of them. Perks that make you charges the defibs faster is nice but not fast enough.

+Ultimate Nibbler Just play with the combat medic field upgrade, derp. Reach lvl 2 and your revives are instant-100's (well, 0.5s, but thats about the time you need to reach the corpse anyway..) . I do use it whenever i'm assault (also because i hate that atrocity named defensive field upgrade) and i never get revives stolen and always revive with 100%.

You and your channel have really grown up. You have gone from posting rather simple tutorial or loadout videos, to analyzing the game in a very sensible way and coming up with reasonable thoughts on and even solutions to problems that have burdened the game/series for a long time. I can only hope that DICE is watching your channel very closely and listens to what you are saying. Please keep the channel the way it is, please keep putting your finger on the wounds of BF, please keep adressing DICE and hopefully, maybe, eventually we will have a Battlefield that is better than the current issue. yes I agree... no more patty cake the blueberry for a 20 spot!! however many times I have been revived or have revived a player that had no choice but a short revive. due to several factors.. the main being simply they were too far away or the combat situation.. required it. nearly the entirety of the revive mechanic from number of points to the way they are earned.. ie...a sliding scale based on how long the revivee lives after the action etc.etc. needs to be very seriously looked into. I do absolutely wish for a better teamwork initiative.

Removing KDR and promoting squad points/team assist points would not only improve teamwork, but I think it would make the game much more enjoyable in general. When I first started playing bf4 I was on xbox 360, and when I played almost 100% team oriented. Then I switched to PC, and every time I opened the game I had these massive KDR and kills per minute numbers shoved into my face on battle log, and I really started worrying about those more than my team. They discouraged me from helping teammates at all, seeing as I enjoyed providing support in ways like providing cover fire, distracting/damaging anti-infantry vehicles, reviving and healing, and none of those really led to kills, but certainly lead to deaths. The whole idea of promoting KDR led me the complete opposite direction from that, because even if I helped my team win every game, I looked like a terrible player with some measly .55 KDR and .3 kills per minute.
@Morphxeus
@Morphxeus 9 жыл бұрын
Dice should implement a system to reviving to where you could drag a friendly teammate to cover and then revive/heal them. With Battlefield's fast paced nature, this should reward players with even more revive points and would benefit the authenticity of military-style combat. Besides, it would greatly reduce the amount of times you would die in open cover by far.

Epic BF moments to me would be something like a few squads of infantry pushing with a small devision of tanks who also happen to have support from a chopper, stuff like that. Say you have a 1v2 tank battle, all of a sudden an friendly helicopter flies over & destroyes one of them & after that you rambo the remaninig enemy tank, or you get fucked by infantry but then all of a sudden a squad starts supporting you & boom, you win.. Thats epic to me, not someone getting 20 kills because it is just a casual shooter, it's not like in CS:GO where a full on ace would be nice or a clutch cus here you just walk around a conor & spray ppl down, after you have reloaded & repeaked the conor they're all alive again due to the revive... Stuff like that doesn't seem epic to me. I love the idea of a tactical BF game! You litterally want to play the objective, play competetive, have a dedicated tank team, dedicated heli team & some dedicated anti tank/air teams, know what I mean?

I'm usually the first (and probably the only comment) to disagree with you, but I have to balance it out when you're right. And yea, I agree with the majority of your video. You bring up good points and some simple steps towards a solution. I hope to see more videos like this. But I also got to be a bit of an asshole, because I believe that the problem with teamwork in Battlefield is worsened by you and your colleagues. I'm talking about the majority of Battlefield youtubers. While the commentary is a different matter it is clear that your footage prioritizes big kill streaks and high-KDs. You wouldn't want to have a video with several minutes of repairing, resupplying, healing and reviving without going on a kill streak. You wouldn't stand at an empty point to capture it. Only exception is when you do Squad Up, but the majority of your videos are solo play. Nearly every Battlefield KZbinr uses the same type of footage. Kills and killstreaks. Your videos have an affect on what the community values. Why doesn't no one throw ammo? Because literally every youtuber plays assault for those better infantry kill streaks while bitching about support. You are capable of going support and giving people ammo but that would mean putting yourself in a less advantageous loadout. Basically (tl;dr), you preach teamwork in your commentary while showing lonewolf in your footage. BF KZbinrs and the BF community as a whole values killstreaks over resupplies and repairs. This problem feeds on itself. Because no matter how hard I try to play as the support of the team, your "How to go 80 and 0 with Assault" will always draw a bigger crowd.

The obsession with K/DR has been a major culprit in diminishing the amount of actual "teamwork" that is accomplished in BF4. Winning the match comes secondary to bonus point scores and seeing your name at the top of the list. I play one objective per round with the intent of capturing and holding it. After taking it I camp (that's right kids; cover your ears for the evil"C" word) on or just off the burn. I use C-4 to set booby traps, and try to place myself in a good ambush position. If I am outnumbered I lay low, wait for them to leave (inevitable en masse), and re-take the objective. If I get killed (note I said if) I simply respawn, attack the same objective, and set myself up in a different hide. I once suggested this tactic to a clan I was playing with. I suggested that each squad of 5 designate one or two "guardians" to hold taken objectives and call for help on comms if they were attacked. No one was the slightest bit interested. They preferred running around mindlessly from point to point as a group... that was how they defined "teamwork". These were adults, mind you. It's why I play alone now. I personally don't give a fuck if I get only one kill and get ranked dead last on my team. If we won, and I took the same objective half a dozen times or more... well, that's good enough for me.

The tactic you mentioned about hiding until enemies have left a capture point in conquest is something I often do. If I roll up on a point it's always a better option to hideout than to engage, wait for them to capture it and leave then take it back. This is really effective but very few people do it.

In Seine Crossong, BF3, it was a cat and mouse game between the enemy tank and the squads. Helping the squad was rewarded with spawn locations, and staying together ensured survival as squad revives were very lucrative. You needed to work together, as you couldn't kill an entire squad by yourself. Remember the speculation you had to do to place your t-ugs for maximum points? Correct placement made a huge difference for the team, and for your score. If a buddy was capturing a flag, it was important to help as the point bounty for a captured flag was huge and took forever for one person. It seemed really important to get a flag behind the enemies, and calculating where they would likely be. I remember hiding inside the flagzone, and listening for enemy footsteps, while having both eyes on the radar. Contrary to BF4, you couldn't sucker-punch anyone in BF3 with pick-up weapons, it took elaborate teamwork and co-specialized kits to laser lock a chopper, and kill it with an anti-tank missile from a tank, and it was so sweet when it worked. Do anyone really care about commanders and squad-upgrades in BF4? Its basically just noise. Remove it. More often than none, there will only be a commander on one of the teams, shitting all over with scanners and cruise missiles. Maybe if we removed all pickup weapons, it would help. Also, the losing team should only get half points, while the winning team should get double. It is worth yelling at your teammates if the difference in points for winning is gigantic. BF4 made all the teamwork passive. Your teammates are basically enemies you can't kill, out to steal your points, and it doesn't matter what they do or if the team wins.

I used to play with a clan and at times there was so many of us in one server we would have multiple squads and two party chats. on ps4. each squad would be assigned to one or two capture points. so even if we had the flag we'd stay there and defend. this game is significantly funner when you run in a group on com's playing together. the only servers we didn't dominate in there was another clan on the other team doing the same thing. which brought a new level of fun in a harder challenge. we even had battles with are clan against another in private servers. sadly the clan fell apart. I still play with some of them but now I use my squad of randoms as spawn points and lone wolf it. there are still those rare moments where you end up on a squad of randoms and with no verbal communication you click and play as a squad

That also brings me back to fuckton of hate towards the new Battlefront. I mean on consoles BF3 only had fucking 12vs12 and it was soooo much better than BF4. Even the amount of guns and gadgets was less but still didn't matter about the gameplay because it was pure sex. So why is Battlefront getting hate because it has less players per match and less content than the previous ones? The gameplay is on par with what BF3 had so wtf is wrong with people?!

I love what you said about the assignments and how ridiculous they can be. I just unlocked the f2000 and the hardest part was the 2 kill assist ribbons in a round and the only way I could do that was to burst fire at an enemy and run away hoping a teammate would kill them. This was pretty frustrating because it required me to intentionally let an enemy live so that my teammates would kill them.

I love getting into a game of Battlefield and my random squad members understand how to play the game properly. We work as a squad by going to the squad leader's commanded flag and provide each other meds, ammo and sometimes reps and return back to flags if they start to get capped back to the enemy again. I genuinely provide the heals, resupplies, revives and reps for the benefit of the person and team. The points for doing these things are so small I don't care about getting the points for it, I would still do these things even if they didn't reward points. I just wish more people knew how to play the game properly and better.

6:05 Hell no. If I perform a 100% revive and my team mate is completely oblivious and runs out into the open and dies then that's not my fault and it would be pretty bad to deny the 100 points for the revive. The only thing they could do is give the reviver a few bonus points if their team mate survived for a couple of seconds or got a kill.

Working on the idea of staying behind to recap an objective... What about giving an increasing number of points for each time you sequentially capture a point or defend it. For example, 100 points for first cap, 200 for the halting an enemy cap at the location (assuming you haven't capped something else), 300 for recapping it (again assuming you haven't capped something else in the mean time), and so on. This would incentivize sticking around and holding a point rather than just moving on.

The tier upgrade system could promote more team play and add more beneficial perks. For example: Flak jackets which provide more health, recons call in small squad UAV that can detect enemy players within a small radius surrounding a selected squad player. Assault players could gain squad action points towards calling in a small mortar strike on a point. Engineers could gain a better repair tool or better rockets.

Proximity points, points you get when hanging with your squad for an extended period of time to provide support or cover fire, the more your squad sticks together the more points everyone gets, not just by attack an objective but simultaneously assaulting overall tactical effectiveness within the vicinity.

On Xbox/Playstation you see it more. My reason is because consoles (Mostly Xbox from experience) actively sell many communication headsets to talk with one another, we also have party chat and to fully use it, we need a headset. Then when you're not in your party then you're in Game chat and when you do small call outs people ofter respond. And also, when you need ammo, don't waste it by shooting them.

+LevelCapGaminIt is actually not just the scoreboards. If you want to unlock new items, this is usually done through ramping up Ks. You simply dont get points for playing objectives that really unlock anything relevant. The system in e.g. battlefront allows you to choose what you want to do with your "earned credit" - and it would be an easy way of weighting / balancing team vs. solo activities through the credits earned. Example: Taking out a regular player =100 points. Taking out a player with a high K/D ratio and little damage taken for an extended period of time = 500 points because he seems a HVT and is probably making your teams life miserable from a remote location. Holding an objective when outnumbered = 300 points instead of 100 for a regular capture. But this only works if you can use your credit for whatever you want and are not incentivized to progress up your unlocks with Ks.

Dice could make it so you get a large match bonus for winning and no match bonus at all if your team loses. More emphasis on W/L ratio would be helpful as well. Getting most equipment based on wins/objective oriented behavior instead of kills is another way to shift the focus.

This was a great video, Level. Gave me some ideas too! For teamwork initiative, say for BF5, how about they dish out points ANY time you are on a point. And those points you get are increased based off of the number of friendly or enemy players that are simultaneously on the point. It would encourage attacking AND defending an objective as you mentioned in the video, no one really stays behind to defend an objective. This would at least encourage it a little more than it already....isnt.

Remove K/D ratio from scoreboard and BL main page, hide it somewhere or delete completely. Replace with general score and score per death ratio. Give a lot more points for taking out a tank, repairing a tank or taking a flag/M-Com, than kills. For Rush mode put a separate M-coms armed / defused stat on end scoreboard for all to see. Remove 20% revives, only full revives. Give more points for stuff like destroyed beacons, spawns on a beacon you set up, motion sensor assists, laser marking vehicles. Not kills. Make the losing team lose half of it's XP points, only winning team members get full XP.

The best "Only In Battlefield" moment I ever had was in this random pub BF3 Conquest game (I think it was Seine), and we were loosing really bad. Like we had half the tickets they had, with all objectives taken. It was mostly because everyone was going alone with whatever class they wanted. I wasn't all too happy, so I decided to go on chat and say I'm gonna go in as Support, with an LMG to suppress the enemy. I asked for an Assault with smoke to hide the enemy sight while I suppress them. One random guy said "Sure I be Assault", and then another guy followed, a different guy said he'll be Recon as spotter, another as aggressive recon. Another Engineer, someone said he'll take tank so he needs a Repair dude (an EOD pro said he'll do it). Soon, I had about 12 people I had no interaction with what so ever work together. It was epic. We cut through enemies like a hot knife cutting through butter. We eventually took all the objectives, and won. And the best part? The only time we communicated was when we were telling each other what role we took. Once decided, nobody had to communicate, but we all knew what each other wanted. Revive, ammo crates, spotting, healing, suppression, repair, etc. Our small group of 12 people literally won over against the whole team. All of us were doing what we did best, and with that alongside teamwork, it was just victorious. At the end, all 12 of us were spamming the chat with "GG", as the screen changed to show our scoreboard, which showed us 12 at the very top. An "Only In Battlefield" moment doesn't need any streaks or Rendezooks or whatever, just the epic creation of strangers working together for an objective, is a pure "Only In Battlefield" moment.

choose your revive's. try to do it when there are no immediate threats, or drop them a medbag if you only revived them to a small bit of health. a good revive can change the flow of combat significantly. and if you are playing as support, drop ammo in a place where your team can use it to their advantage. or if they ask for it, Same with medbag. I've always kinda hated reviving in TDM. Because it gets chaotic, people die in areas where it's not safe to run out with Defibs instead of guns. Also, if those people get revived anyway, they sometimes immediately get shot down again before they can react. I've sometimes been that person who lost a gunfight, a teammate came running at me with Defibs, and whoever killed me killed that teammate and came around and shot me again at 20 health. For this reason, I think Assault class who aren't very smart are a HUGE liability because not only do they go WAY negative (bring defibs to a gunfight) but also their revives turn out completely meaningless.

Something I do that usually seems to help my entire squad is... First I join a full squad that seems to be playing aggressive. Second I find a good position close to the objective and play relatively passively, letting the rest of my aggressive squad members use me as a living spawn point. I enjoy picking people off with a silenced gun, allowing my squad to bum rush the objective. As soon as we get a decent plant, (team on objective) I start playing to keep them off the bomb at all costs. Makes for a fun game imo.

It does annoy me when I see myself constantly sacrificing myself in order to keep my squad members alive to either get the guy I was shooting, or capture the objective. And in the end they are the ones glorified just because they got a couple more kills than I did when I work my butt off to keep them healthy and capturing the objectives.

Here is my suggestion: cut all points from kills, revives, vehicle disables, etc etc by 50% so instead of 100 pints per kill you get 50 and when the battle is over if your team wins you get a 50% increase in your points so your points are the same if the point system was the same as "normally". What about losing team? well their points stay 50% down from "normal". Also when doing "teamplay" actions like giving ammo health or something else you get a 20% point increase to your action in question and if your team wins the battle you will get that 50% back to "normal" .(50% would overwrite the 20% so it would not be 70%) and member of the losing team still get little extra (that 20%) I know if this system is not perfect just something that came to mind.

I don't typically get help from my squad, but have had a few good games with others. This type of game is what's more fun for me. I don't base my determination if it was a good or bad game on my KDR or W-L, but actual game play. Epic battles and back and forth captures between squads are what's fun.

To encourage teamwork, I try to in most games: Protect armor and repair, drop ammo frequently, watch peoples back when they repair, snipe or knife boats back in the water, use the transport heli, put spawn beacons between objectives, support attack boats with a rhib, fuck with aircraft when no one else will, use the mav if we start to lose, cap flags and stay on them until overrun, back cap solo, switch my kit to suit different needs, distract snipers so other can kill them, say thank you if someone saves my ass, repairs, runs with me to a flag or does anything even remotely helpful. Sometimes this gets people in the spirit and it is fucking cool to see my green guys in a cluster or a herd of blueberries running from flag to flag.
