For longtime fans of the BF franchise who have been playing since BF1942 actually launched, HLL is where we feel BF should've been at this point in its evolution. You can argue that Squad is the spiritual successor of BF2 and that its success has led to HLL and Post Scriptum which means, in a way, they are also spiritual successors to BF. I think the main problem is that the newer community members who joined with Hardline or BF1 never played true BF games, they got the EA "kill cod" games that were perversions of BF. At its core, BF was always about the teamwork, and that has been lost in the war with CoD to the point where BF doesn't know what it is anymore. While I understand what you are trying to say, I think it is rather disingenuous and does a disservice to the newer fans of the franchise. Arguing that more players and limited weapons/designated roles are reasons to NOT compare the two games is absurd. You claim to have played BF2, so you know, while we didn't have 100 player servers, we did have 6 man squads and limited weapons to pick from. And yes, while the franchise has become more bloated with choice, it isn't always good. Look at BF1...less than half of the guns in that game ever saw any service or made it past the prototype phase. And let's be realistic here, half the guns in BFV aren't even worth using and a fair amount are ported from BF1. And oh yeah, BF1 didn't have character customization and everyone survived. To be clear, this isn't an attack against you. I just feel that you aren't making an accurate or honest comparison and that your reasons to not compare the failure of the AAA BFV to the success of little indie HLL are petty. Sadly, this is a common theme in all videos from "EA Gamechangers," it always comes back to the "don't say BFV is bad even though it is" type lines. So, TL: DR...you actually can and SHOULD compare these two games. BFV is a dumpster fire and they have the resources of EA. HLL is actually succeeding and they're an indie studio. Comparisons are good, they help you know what is good, what needs work, and what sucks.

I finally found a squad based/"team communication critical" successor to my old fave Ghost Recon Wildlands...I loved doing MILSIM covert stealth missions with four other co-op mates in GRW, setting up sync shots to take down baddies without enemies knowing what hit them. HLL gives me that teamwork bond back and even more, I just hope that it has a long bright future :)

Scoped weapons would only make sense for marksmen but the holographic sights make no sense they give everyone a laser sight with no progression. Battlefield V has no decent map design it's all just a giant art project with "untold stories" as a blanket to make flat maps with no thought put in.

What people don't seem to get is that Battlefield players never wanted what it became. We liked the big maps, we liked the slower movement that we got from the early Battlefield games. We didn't want the game to "appeal to the masses". Then Dice and EA forgot about their loyal fans and only saw dollar signs.

I played all the battlefields, I personally enjoyed the large scale battlefield 1 gametype "Operations". HLL has huge maps much bigger than Operations and a variety of terrain where you rarely feel like you've fought this battle before, except for capturing points of course. Also in HLL how every gun except the sniper is iron sights significantly levels out the playing field and more raw skill, spotting and communication is involved when taking down enemies. After a while battlefield starts feeling repetitive whereas HLL you are always like, "I got one!" when you get a kill and the only way you know is when you see the guys body drop or you throw a nade and half a body flies over the trench and lands next to you. HLL feels much more balanced than battlefield and the maps attention to details has you lying down in the most subtle of spots picking off enemies as they run by, the fear of death is real! Dying in HLL is brutal! There will be many times when you have no idea where you got shot from and its over quick, or you will suddenly blow up and have no reasoning behind what happened which could be frustrating for the casual fps player but I feel more accurately represents the harsh reality of warfare. Playing battlefield now that I've been playing HLL makes battlefield feel like I'm playing COD to put it into perspective. HLL does still need work, however the underlying principle of the game is an awesome foundation to build on and any veteran fps player will surely enjoy the game. Some of the recommendations for HLL that would help it win over battlefield would be destructive environments, more realistic ballistics, half-track and general performance optimizations. Gotta disagree. They are very similar. I don't think BF5 was meant to be geared towards run and gun. They tried to strike a balance and screwed up simply put. Movement is still too fast and what it allows is the run and gun nuts to turn the game into an arena shooter. But think about it. You've got ALL these mechanics like trench building, supply building, sandbag stacking and gun emplacement building. None of that is actually run an gun. The attrition system was meant to promote long standoff battles where people fall back and resupply or heal then come back. The difference to me is that HLL punishes run and gun way more than BF does now. I guess that's because all the run an gun folks seeped in somehow and started swearing BF was always run and gun but that's not how BF3 played at all. You took up positions dug in and held. Squads would hold points instead of running around circle capping. Folks swear Metro was terrible now but that used to be one of the busiest maps because it was actually....a BATTLE. BF just needs to get back to punishing run and gun a little more. Slow the movement system down again. I played HLL then went back to BF and felt like the movement speed was ridiculous.

HLL is a very fun game when you can play with your squad and come up with tactics to encircle or flank the enemy. A microphone is a must and i feel like the player base is very mature compared to other games.

Though you should understand that all that means is you prefer a particular genre of games that Battlefield has never been a part of. Personally I took refuge on "Hell Let Loose" and "Rising Storm 2: Vietnam" (and to a certain extent "Insurgency: Sandstorm") since the Battlefield franchise took a very clear CoD turn... (BF1 being the most beautiful example of this). I find it a pity to not having any intermediate games like Battlefield in its old days (until Battlefield 2). An intermediate game is for me a game with arcade gameplay while being slightly demanding, and, despite having a historical approximation, a desire to maintain consistency while making compromises for the gameplay but always with the objective of remaining credible. Nowadays there are only AAAs with CoD gameplay or niche games that are more oriented towards simulation. Rising Storm 2: Vietnam gives very good sensations while keeping a movement & gun gameplay nervous and it is in my opinion the one that is closer today to my definition of this kind of intermediate games. All the promises that Battlefield put on the carpet since "Battlefield 1942" were more or less abandoned time over time. But fortunately, zealous descendants have taken up the torch and even if they are games with smaller communities they have the merit of existing and to offer a much more satisfying experience than running like a rabbit and shooting red markers in a pathetic frag race...

All BF has to do is remove the damn game mode where you capture points individually like conquest which basically means your team is completely spread out, everyone doing their own thing while you get sniped from behind while running around trying to figure out which point is the best one to capture. This for me makes any War based game not feel like war and more like free for all. Hell let loose gets it right by forcing your entire team to focus on one objective but at the same time giving you the freedom to do what you want, but if you really want win you need to focus on the objective. There are obviously other things but thats one mode that is game breaking for me.

Bfv is for kids unfortunately there is no hell let loose on xbox. I rather prefer its style rather than the annoying bfv run n gun players who dependent on spamming latency players while soaking bullets like waterbombs. While hell let loose u can't randomly shoot or quickscope lest u kill a friendly, no satellite flare spotting, no player farming like a tool. And even a person who is having latency problem can kill u due to bullet damage dealt by the guns. Unlike bfv u can shoot an enemy whose back is facing towards you and they can still do a one 180 and kill you before you can even empty your clip. I don't need to tell u no annoying third party view lone wolf tankers camping on a hill.

HLL is a MUCH more tactical game where you have to rely on your team and squad, but it feels like PUBG when it first released, the movement is very......janky.. It's not a bad game, but in comparison, despite all the current glitches, BFV is a far more polished game and imo much more "fun" to play.. It shows the difference between casual and hardcore shooters at least..

BFV has the best movement mechanics of the franchise, but the rest of the game feels weak and unoriginal. Over the years every BF game has had one or two amazing features that make the game evolve, but for some reason, DICE seems bound by the idea that they need to "kill cod" by becoming CoD. Sadly, BFV seems to think that the only way to truly do this is to piss off the core fanbase who've played the game for years. HLL may be rough, but so are BF2 and BF3 by today's standards. Hopefully, HLL has the same success as SQUAD, because BF players need somewhere to go.

@@SomeOtherCrap you know BF3 wasn't my piece of cake mainly due to the co op unlocks being pretty hard to get (gotta get that SG553 in a modern setting), never bought the game, I missed bf4 for some reason and bf1 was "out of budget" I fell back to 15 bucks steam indie games until I saw BF5, I didn't care about bad commentary and bought it together with bf 1 (I mean 5€ for a full AAA game with all DLC), I like it a lot, almost as much as ArmA modded operations in a unit. I don't feel there is a lack of content or something like that in bf5 compared to BF1 (OK maps would be cool), but there are enough guns.

Completely different games... ones an arcade run and gun shooter and the other is a more stealthy mid range/ sim/shooter (not full on sim but not exactly arcade). So both very different games. I've always said I think Hell let loose has the same atmosphere you used to get in BF1942. slower paced, easy to die if you don't take cover. Where BF is a lot of people running around shooting and blowing everything up jumping, sliding and rotating at speed. If they could inject some of the elements from Hell Let Loose's pacing, style, tactics and atmosphere into BF5 and fixed most of the current issues then BF5 would be heavily played. It would be a monster of a game and up there with my all time favourites.... Sadly at the moment it's collecting dust in my collection and has been there for about 5 months. Never bothered playing it..

BFV is more dynamic, you can do something alone and dont need 4 or more people (tanks, planes), you have good sights and not shitty medieval iron sights, with you can see nothing, you dont have to go 10 minutes to the frontline, the round most end in 20-30 minutes etc. I understand, why people like go 100 miles and nothing happens and after 1 Bodyshot, they died instantly, but there a bunch of people, they like more a tactical shooter with action, with teamplay but also the possibility, to make something great also alone and have also the possibility, to see the enemies with 3X scope and not crawl into the monitor, cause of the shitty iron sights.

@@roach5606 There is a slight degree of authenticity in Battlefield, in terms of how the environment looks, the soundeffects, and certain historically accurate content. But in regards of historical accuracy, it is obviously limited, and this is why there is red dot scopes or women fighters.

I just want a game to capture the soul and feel of the original battlefield 1942 game! It wasn't a twitch shooter like the modern BF games. Yet it was still accessable. What I'd like to see is the mechanics of hell let loose in terms of movement speed and TTK but the openness of the old BF games where you can hope in any vehicle and choose any kit you want! Dice already missed the mark since BF3 according to me and they changed the direction of their games from what they previously were. It's now merely call of duty with tanks and aircrafts.

Basically yes. You have a commander who handles team resources and plans. Infantry squads with squad leaders. Armored squads and recons. The maps are huge, detailed. Lots of communication and teamwork.

you cant compare Hell Let Loose to BF5 first and last you don't have to keep paying EA Games to continue playing their game. On the other hand, you Buy Hell Let Loose Once and you own it FE Period ... BF 5 just sucks, Un-Realistic there's not a Ring of Fire burning around you in WW2, yes there was Fire everywhere but not like BF 5 put it. i went to try and Buy Battlefield 5, and i tried buying the full game and it's asking to pay an additional $4.99 a month WHAT!!! No, Nah, Nah Homie doesn't play that. i said fuk it i won't buy it. Surprised the company has not Brokedown, its cuz all the stupids paying extra and monthly to keek playing, that's so dumb.

Also nothing beats mowing people down on top of Omaha beach as the americans storm the beach. all in all I like the realism of hell let loose. I feel more immersive and feel like I'm there I have never experienced that in either call of duty or battlefield. Although I do like battlefield 4 and will play that from time to time.
