I need yoda help! I used to play him on PS4 some time ago. I was reasonably good with him and got plenty of kills. I got this on PC (a couple weeks before it was free on epic 😕) to play with friends. Now I’m terrible with yoda. It feels like he gets parried/ button bashed down easy. So many hits seem to connect no matter how I dodge and I just gave up on him. Did they nerf him or what am I doing wrong/ need to re-assess from playing him so long ago?

I love that you don't give up and that you always give your all in these duels; that Ani/Dooku duel is an example of that. He got you down to just 3HP while he was full, most players would feel like they are delaying the inevitable in that situation and say F it by making bold moves that get them killed, but you actually turned it around in a huge upset.

Hero Showdown from 2020-2022 will always be some of my fondest gaming memories. sitting in late night lobbies just having both chill and intense 1v1s were the best way to spend time. even got some buddies together and did some duels with them. nothing will beat that intensity and fun, and its such a shame how thin the playerbase is because id love nothing more than to go back to that.

I have had alot of times they put me in a 1 v 4 where i survive long enough for the backup to respawn even tho they died when I ran in. But like 4/5 of those I die because I will keep fighting once my team is back. But if you have a han or anything else that can knock you from nasty angles they will shred you🤣 only with vader I tend to survive 1 v 4 constantly, and sometimes even escape with it ending a 1 v 2 because they think 4 ppl will get me down before I choke and saber throw the overly aggresive ppl who should have pulled out at 200 hp xd

Obi's Def rush is one of my favs. You can get the first initial hit and if you make a 180° turn quick enough you can more than likely get a second cheeky one in. Dodge back maybe one more auto.

I play mostly HVV because in my case almost every match they don't, been playing bf2 from launch and still play it till this day but a real 1v1 is hardly happening ... i know how to make them know i want to 1v1 ,but still doesn't happen as much i see matches of you ... is there maybe a possibility you could tell me how you do it or for the fun of it show some footage where things went 1 v 2 ? I put an honest effort into it. Some days I just have bad luck and duels don't happen. In that case I'll play some HvV myself, but I'll usually find at least one decent duel per play session. Just gotta be patient sometimes

Yoda is super slow. They should’ve given him a different move set when he activated presence and made it super fast and accurate like Dookus duelist. Outstanding video and breakdown as usual my dude. Keep it up. Love the attention to detail.

Hey Bazaar. Is it important to know which saber swing animation will come after you dodge left or right, back etc for effectiveness in certain scenarios? I had no idea that the direction of the dodge before swinging effected the animation. For instance I see how you and Napalm use Anakin and the movements seem so much quicker than when I use him. He does this spin attack and seems so slow when I play him. Would this be an instance where the dodge beforehand is effecting his animation?

Yes the different animations have different speeds so some attacks are faster than others. Anakin's forward spinning lunge is very slow, but his right hand dodge attack is a very fast diagonal slash

Pro tip: Use lightsaber defense on Maul in every hero mode! The card actually gives you about an 80% damage reduction when you do your spin attacks, which really can save your skin if you fight someone who is either a spammer or can parry your spins well. Your maul games were really close because you didn’t have this card equipped as you could’ve finished it with more health and been in a better position for most of the fight

Hey Star, yes, you can actually party majority of force abilities. Not the pulls, but the “push” or “forward” force abilities u can. Such as Dooku lightning, kylos freeze, Luke’s push and repulse, Nd there’s more I think. Any ability that you deflect with your saber, can be parried if close enough.

Yoda really is hard to play in hero game modes especially when duelling. i think he’s probably one of the worst picks for duels but it’s not to say he’s bad his block breaker is great and he is very fun when you land attacks and just dance all over the other player. great video man keep it up :)

Good question. Yeah that's rough, someone will have to pick a blaster. For the dark sideit's easier, I'll just go with Palpatine and it works. But for the light side its trickier. Han is fun in 1vs1s, so is Leia. I'm also a Chewie main so I'll pick him but Han and Leia are better in general for 1vs1s

I’ve started to play hero showdown more and instantly from a few games I feel more confident in my hero gameplay , evrytime I lose I think about how I could have changed what I did and honestly if players just respected the 1v1 more I’d definitely be able to try more stuff out

Yoda is my main, my advice to you is to dash into enemies attacks and then use your rush ability. When using your rush in front of the enemy you’re going to get hit 90% of the time of your opponent knows what their doing. And one last thing, don’t forget your push, yes the range is short but it’s very useful to create openings to at least get 1 basic lightsaber attack in and also a rush.

I can't help but compare this level of dueling to pro Mortal Kombat players strategy where you know animation frames, cancels, and combinations. I'm thinking a video that breaks down the moves even more specifically would be awesome. Would probably need a friend to duel on local split-screen to test it though. I'm not sure what's even possible but it would be sweet if possible.

I use Yoda to chip health and only go for Parry’s defensively as he has a slow swing speed. Also don’t attack after every dodge as his lungs is small, so use the dodges to bait parry’s and/or use his dash. Once they’re weak go for hook swings I feel he’s very good at them.

I like a combination of ur attacks as dooku, the close range dodge through them and back to get their back up. But instead of a hit a shock. I always start with that after i activate the damage boost

Here are some tips and interesting fact you might not know : so If grievous ever uses unrelenting advance instead of trying to get behind him you can do a clean hook Swing and it will do damage to grievous so if you turn your camera at the right time and get a hit ur guaranteed and second fact if someone gets behind instead of dodging jump turn ur camera around and hit them so it’s the jump attack without the run and you can get 4 hits on frenzy With Yoda you need to play him defensively whenever your enemy swings there lightsaber block and do the dash attack and get a parry and the double hit and use the push to back of and get help this is very useful for people like dooku or maul
