Smart, character-driven dialogue decisions. In the initial moments of being freed, Adama says "thank you son" to Lee and has a moment with Tigh where Tigh calls him "Bill." But the moment Adama turns to the men, to take back his ship, he refers to everyone by their rank, right through the moment he succeeds in taking back the ship. First he says "Lieutenant" to the lieutenant. When Tigh goes to blow that lieutenant away, Adama stops him by saying "Colonel." This continues up to the moment he retakes control (in another video, kzbin.info/www/bejne/eKqqeXp8nsx3a7M). As the room is being secured he orders someone to connect him to "the President." He calls to Roslin, "Madam President! This is the Admiral!" and "I repeat: Galactica secure!" All words of formality, showing the entire crew, through his words as well as his actions that in this moment he is reestablishing order, how things are supposed to be. That man is a lieutenant, this one a colonel. She is the president. I am the admiral. Galactica is secure.

It is a testimony to how well this show was written as well as the pacing. In only four seasons we saw each of the main characters go through transformation and whether it was a good or bad one it was always fascinating. My personal favority is Gaetta. Seeing him be such a loyal junior officer in CIC transforming to a different person (albeit misguided) speaks to the nature of this whole show. A few people left fighting for survival and trying to find a new home.....always on the run....always losing more people in the process and the Cylons constant persecution of the Rag Tag Fleet. Those daily pressures caused many crew members to go crazy with some opting to kill themselves. Bravo BSG writing team,

I was never able to like Gaeta again after that. Every time I rewatch the show and see him, I'm like, "Frak off Gaeta, Jesus".

Look at the world through Gaeta's eyes, everything he did was completely rational. It just all went so wrong. Dee's death kind of broke him, and after that it was just one bad decision after another. His fate really was a tragic one, even more because literally everything he did would've seemed "right" from his own perspective.

She sounds like she means it, too! I'd hate to get on her bad side. 🙂

The Lt. of the firing squad looks 'familiar'; has he appeared in any of the other dozens of Canadian made sci fi movies and series I've been watching over the years?

He was in " Blood and Chrome " playing a different character from the first human/cylon war.
