Meh. Aside from a few exceptions, I had a difficult time empathizing with the Cylons. Or maybe it was those damn goop baths. How could anybody be comfortable in all that slime?
@Scott.Sandifer5 жыл бұрын
@@DarkNova50 Well, that's certainly your interpretation. But the show _clearly_ wants you to feel sympathy for them. During this big win, the music is melancholic, not triumphant, and there's no "woo-hooing." Plus the nuke scene is immediately preceded by a raider getting shot through the 'face,' splattering blood and sparks, and tumbling alone, lost forever in the cold emptiness of space. It's an eerily quiet death instead of it erupting in a huge, boner-inducing fireball. The children of man just lost their immortality, or perhaps their souls. It's a devastating blow, not merely a tactical achievement. The show is complex, is all i'm saying.

His strong conscience is one of the reasons Helo was one of my favorite characters in the show.
@honzasenbauer6123 жыл бұрын
Helo is probably the only one in the fleet with a really sober and right moral compas by our standars. He had so much hate coming his way for the whole time after desctruction of the colonies, with staying on Caprica, being tricked by Athena, to fall in love with her and be heart broken after he found out, to the point where StarBuck came and gave him hope, only for them to get into trouble again. And when he finally came back to the fleet, Roslin tried to kill Athena and possibly space him aswell. Then he was hated, because he was in love with a Cylon that turned sides and if it wasn't for New Caprica, Athena would have never gotten into Colonial Fleet. But he also lost Hera because of Roslin being dodgy and after all that. He was put to the hangar deck to sort out refugees which nobody could have done any better, and he did it with empathy, understanding and objectivity. All of his life he was honorable and did the right thing, because he had too, while many of us would take the easy path
@IWasaTeenageTeenWolf3 жыл бұрын
The thing that irked me so much with Helo was that freaking Borg argument from Star Trek applied towards Cylons (the virus in BSG vs. The one used to kill an entire Borg cube in Star Trek: TNG.) It didn't fit at all in the context of BSG since Borg were all victims themselves and held hostage by a Collective while Cylons willingly agreed and encouraged mass genocide of anyone they deemed inferior (i.e. purely organic life.)

Like a what-if the Cylons never tried going to the corrupted CPN route, and instead took on the Colonials head to head like during the first Cylon war. That's the RTS I want to play. Fleets of Valkyrie types, Pegasus types, and suped up Galactica types like shown in Blood and Chrome just going head to head with Basestars made for war instead of these slender ones that were just made to hold many nukes and missiles. Maybe one day, a programmer out there will give us what we deserve, or maybe I can do with enough time and money to figure out how to make the game myself.

Battlestar Galactica Online was a great game. Sadly it got shut down
@Ajax10634 жыл бұрын
@@fifaisscripted I tried it but I wasn't impressed. At first I liked it and was grinding away, until I realized three things: first the build is extremely extremely slow. It literally will take you weeks just to get another ship or skin playing by yourself. Secondly, the lack lacked enough missions. There are only so much resource collection and search and destroy missions you can play before you get really really bored. Third, the community suffered from being too "clique". Everyone had their groups and beating up on the noobs consistently became too much of a thing. So much so that the game became infamous for it and deterred new players from joining. I remember reading multiple websites warning new players of these issues and I had my doubts at first but everything they mentioned was true. Eventually, I just quit and never looked back. No game lasts for long if it's player base does not consistently grow.

Everyone's always talking about how cool Galactica is for keeping guns as primary arms but we can agree it's also awesome they've kept nuclear weapons as these ultra powerful devices? I know for example that the ones used against Colonial cities were 50 megatons so all nukes are probably atleast one or two dozen megatons while we only have a few single digit megaton weapons left but still.
@Mobius_1183 жыл бұрын
I think what most of sci-fi forgets is that a nuclear weapon doesn't just create a larger explosion than normal, it's a weapon that creates a small sun to cause damage. Also, the irony isn't lost that the same nukes that destroyed the Colonies were used to against the Cylons "Home" as well.
@mitchellmelkin40783 жыл бұрын
Randomly Entertaining, I suppose my question is, if they're 50 megatons, why weren't the cities more thoroughly annihilated, instead of the scenes we saw of many structures still standing? In fact they point out that cylons dying in the colonies were being resurrected because they had resurrection ship(s) in the system, while there was one chasing the fleet. They also had one in New Caprica (or near enough to it without exposing it to danger) The Hub was basically the main server. Without it the other resurrection ships couldn’t work.

What's the point of destroying the resurrection hub the Cylons would just build another. What good does it do to make the enemy mortal when your only remaining warship is falling apart and in no condition to fight a war and god knows how many base stars there are.
@UnicornGamingRX033 жыл бұрын
The Cylons need the final five because the 13th tribe on the destroyed Earth had the Resurrection technology, in 'Daybreak Part II' Saul offered Resurrection technology to John Cavil in return to stop perusing the humans.

@@UnicornGamingRX03 yeah the Galactica is no shape to fight so why risk it on this mission when I do not really see the benefit. They still have dozens or hundreds of basestars and the Galactica cannot fight off all of them let alone destroy them. If I were Adama I would not do this unless there was some sort of agreement that their forces will not chase us and that they use their fleet to protect Galatica so the fleet can leave and never return. The only reason I would jump Galatica to fight the Cylons is if I had a biogenic weapon that's transmissible when Cylon prisoners are killed. Doing that would get rid of the problem not just slightly weaken them and that would be worth it, because the virus could and maybe destroy them. Then the fleet can repopulate the 12 colonies. If it doesn't it should give Galatica enough time to fully flee Cylon space.
@Swiftbow3 жыл бұрын
@@voluntarism335 This made many Cylons afraid to continue the pursuit, because now they could actually die. Up until this point, every Cylon that was killed by Galactica simply respawned in a new body. And I don't know what you mean about "fully flee Cylon space." They were long outside of human or Cylon controlled space. The Cylons were pursuing them across the Galaxy with the intent to exterminate the human race. And yes... they had too many basestars to fight. The only chance the humans had was to throw a wrench in the whole operation. Transforming an immortal enemy into mortals is a pretty big blow to deal.

When they cut the cable and it goes whipping back towards the viper is such an error. LOL that would not happen in space. the cable would just continue to be in the same sort of position really, there is no g force or air to produce a whiplash. Cool scene though lol

Not to be I kill joy or anything. How did they not know how resurrection worked? It was required by their entire civilization and would have needed maintenance.

The Resurrection Hub was built by the survivors Old Earth (the final Five Cylons), but they never gave the new Cylons the plans for it. Then the Cavils betrayed them and wiped their memories of being Cylons, making the Resurrection Hub the ONLY Resurrection Hub.

@@Bek359 An advanced civilization, based on one major piece of technology goes to war with another civilization and they don’t take time to document or backwards engineer a single part of it? I know it completely destroys the storyline but think about it. I enjoyed the series but it’s fictional. There are going to be inconsistencies in the story and for it to work we would have to ignore or accept it. It would be like going to war with rifles and tanks without one person knowing how they work.

The Final Five is the most stupid arc of the final seasons, other than the stupid Kara magic song, but that had began with Lee and Kara exhausting and tiresome melodrama, and worst of all we don't even get a resolution of that, Kara just disappear from thin air, like all was meaningless.

@@TheKeyser94 One moment she was there, the next, she disappeared. Yeah that happened to me in real life too. Out of nowhere like Lee looking again and she's gone. There was resolution, it was full circle. Kara lets him go and says a prayer for him when she thinks he's dead in the miniseries. Lee had to let her go, like she told him to. She promised he would love earth, and he did. It gave us that catharsis, standing on earth together. She fulfilled her destiny. They achieved their goal, they made it to earth, but there is still sadness and death. Somehow it's ok though, that's the main message. What endless melodrama? What do you want? What kind of resolution would you want to see?

@@usul573 Maybe you are new in this Fandom, because most Battlestar Galactica including myself hate the last two season of it, and that was bullshit, all our emotional investment in this characters was for nothing, hell, even in the original Battlestar Galactica Starbuck and Apollo had better arcs, even that Starbuck also dies there as well, but it wasn't filled with stupid melodrama and nonsensical plot arcs like the Final Five.

@@TheKeyser94 What do you mean most? 2.4 million people watched the ending, so a few haters online doesn't mean a thing. The show has had haters since day 1. Mostly Dirk Benedict fanboys who are old and insecure in their masculinity. I loved it personally. I never felt that our emotional investment in the characters was for nothing. I found it satisfying. Season 4 of BSG has universal acclaim from critics and users. I never saw any stupid melodrama. The final five plot was done well.
