Despite me being a relative newbie to the Battletech universe, this intro still gave me chills when I first saw it on Cohh's stream. It's just so awesome seeing the fall of the Star League in animation.

If you mean the name of the Cameron family -- who were given the title of First Lord of the Star League -- it should be. Ian Cameron was the first Star Lord, and his descendant, Richard Cameron was the Star Lord that Stefan Amaris assassinated to bring about the dissolution of the Star League. This led into the schism that created the Five Great Houses -- Davion, Steiner, Kurita, Liao and Marik -- and would also lend to the eventual departure of the Star League Regular Army to beyond the periphery (and the eventual creation of the Clans).

House Davion is the house that leads the Federated Suns -- the congregation of peoples that follow the house lord, Prince Hanse Davion (and later his heir Victor). They draw their cultural identity from the high ideals of democracy and giving their citizens freedom of expression and religion, and have shown a high proficiency for restoring lostech (Lost Technology) and trying to stem the tide of the more oppressive houses like Liao and Kurita. House Steiner is the house that leads the Lyran Commonwealth -- these are peoples who follow the rule of the Archon Katrina Steiner (and later her heirs through her daughter Melissa, and her grandson Victor). They are considered the wealthiest of the Successor Houses, and draw on a strong Germanic heretige, even if their people come from many diverse origins. Both House Davion and Steiner entered into an alliance together, cemented by the marriage of Prince Hanse Davin to Melissa Steiner; which forged the Federated Commonwealth, with Hanse and Melissa's son, Victor to eventually rule over both houses and combined kingdoms.

Long gone are the days of impressive Battletech game intros.. All three Mechwarrior 2 games, MW3, MechCommander, MW4 - all works of art that capture you with fantastic visuals and throw in the thick of the world of Battletech. This intro presents some good storytelling of the world's historical background, but does not introduce the player to the game. Moreover, it feels like it ditches the player somewhere halfway the story. 2765 was the last date here, and in the game it is 3025 and we are in a certain part of the Inner Sphere. Thus the trailer isn't a good intro, maybe a good 1/4th of it.. if it was continued by the rest of history and then a more cinematic intro to the game events themselves. Waiting for the game though, as a faithful backer.

Considering that the prior MW games were more focused on 'Mech Combat, rather than the STORY behind Battletech, this Intro goes a long, long way in showing just how humanity got from the 2100's to current year 3025. And it touches on a few key plot points -- Mankind's first journey with the Kearny/Fuchita Jump drive, the formation of the Star League under first Star Lord Ian Cameron, the expansion across the known Sphere of the universe, and the rise of Stefan Amaris' coup and assassination of Richard Cameron. I just wish the intro had also shown the formation of the five Successor Houses, and the (then) current leaders; Hanse Davion, Katrina Steiner, Maxamillion Liao, Takashi Kurita and Janos Marik, as well as some of the more notable mercenary units of the time period. I don't mind that we're pretty much starting off as a Mechwarrior to some lesser house, but it would be sweet if in future content, we could be part of a regular House unit or one of the more famous merc-commands -- like the Eridani Light Horse, or Kell Hounds and Wolf's Dragoons -- especially if the game progresses into the 3050's, when the Clans eventually invade the Inner Sphere.

Yes, history is great, but somehow intro just shares the early part of it, and omits the last 300 years! It's like the intro to the modern warfare game showed history from year 0 and stopped in 17 century.
